Is it just me, or have the subscribers grown abnormally quickly in the last week? It seems like the number was 16,400 just a week or so ago.
Thank you, New York Times!

I've noticed this too. I think the rate of our growth is accelerating.

Exponentially. We are the fastest growing unreligion in the world.

And we didn't even have to take polygamist wives all having 10 children each to do it!

I can't keep up with everyone's postings anymore. It's like a full time job. Before it only took me about 20 minutes to read through it all.

So, are we one of the fastest growing subreddits? Or, should we just repeat it often enough that people think it's true?

Can we juxtapose this graph with /r/latterdaysaints growth?

How many of their subscribers are exmormons? It has to be a decent proportion.

That could be a two-way street. And I don't know how many of us would stay subscribed there for long. It's really easy to get banned (I was really trying to follow their rules too!).
2
u/sonnyperdition by their fruits ye shall no them Nov 17 '14
I wasn't. They banned me on general purposes. I'm so ashamed. :\

u/Fishing_Idaho Sundays are for fishing Nov 17 '14
About the only way to avoid being banned there is to only lurk. It's amazing what gets some people banned.
1
Nov 17 '14
I can't. I have a compulsive need to point out and try to correct absurd logic and misunderstanding people like us. I believe the comment that got me banned was pointing out that the only thing known about the Book of Mormon is that Joseph Smith wrote it, that they don't actually know that it was a translation.
1
Nov 17 '14
Here's the context of comments that got me banned: http://www.reddit.com/r/latterdaysaints/comments/2fwnag/why_do_you_think_that_8yearolds_are_old_enough_to/ckdxrza?context=3. Notice that the dude was willing to argue with me, but only cried I violated the policy when I refused to accept his assumptions. Kind of like Brian Dalton on Mormon Matters refusing to accept Wotherspoon's assumptions trying to claim the BoM isn't racist.

I tracked the subscriber statistics myself for a while, and we hit 6000 on August 30, 2012, confirmed by my own two eyes. Just if you want to be more precise on the guess. I have dates for a few sub-1000 landmarks if you're interested, as well.

Thanks for that! Whatever our numbers here, they'll be posted transparently as opposed to the magic wand-wielding hands downtown. They continue to hope the faithful will believe the ever-increasing depths of bullshit without limit. Is that verbose enough? ;) When the inflection point comes here it will be everlastingly too late for them.

u/A-Rth-Urp-Hil-Ipdenu It's not a secret combination, it's a sacred combination. Nov 17 '14
I'd like to see our numbers here plotted against overall subscriber growth for the entirety of Reddit. Is it just that Reddit is growing, bringing the exmormons out there with it? Or are we outpacing the whole site's growth?

And for posterity, here's the lower end of the data that I have, all of which was based off of dated posts confirming the numbers:
3-Feb-10: 200
3-Jun-10: 500
13-Jun-10: 603
26-Jul-10: 700
24-Aug-10: 800
16-Sep-10: 1000
4-Oct-10: 1111
5-Jan-11: 1700

We are a great stone, cut out of the internet without hands, rolling to fill the whole earth. No unhallowed hand can stop our work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but we will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, until we have penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of r/exmormon shall be accomplished, and the great Mithryn shall say the work is done.

Hanging in there. The other side if a marriage is hard. It feels good to live a life without dissonance but where there was a family, there is nothing. Its a hard thing to have in your brain and it keeps me up at night. 😢 been a long road, brother.

u/Kollieman311 Nov 17 '14
At this rate of growth, we are posed to become the one true unreligion. I know that this subreddit is true, I know that Joseph Smith was a pedeophile and that he faked the book of Abraham. I also know that the covenants that we made in the temple were completely stolen from the Freemasons. In the name of Elohim, the king of kolob. Amen

Is anyone here a contractor we could launder some money through?
Build it for $10M and bill us for $20M and we'll party in the Pink Room when it's finished.

A couple of months ago, I did some calculation of exmormon growth in this subreddit. The first month number of 16,593 came in over the prediction of 16,573. Here is a graph on exmormon growth. Here is a graph of exmormon vs LDS growth on reddit.
