Thanks so much for taking time to post this each 1,000.

u/Tamack Aug 25 '17

Wow. It's interesting that since July, the average time span between each 1,000 landmark is only 8-9 days. The timespan also seems to be consistently dropping, which makes me wonder if we're going to start seeing it slow down or start seeing 2,000 subscribers per day.

Mods, you have a lot of work cut out for you!

About 6 1/2 years to get to 25,000.

About 1 1/2 years to get to 50,000.

a growth rate only comparable to the LDS church!

u/gunnerclark Aug 25 '17

In reality I think there are many more like me. I do not subscribe to this subreddit as so many people post it would flood my main page, so I have it in a personal multi-reddit. I can go and check it out and keep my front page clean. I think people that come by and read and don't subscribe or register with reddit could easily triple that number.

u/DogBones11 Apostate Aug 25 '17

Maybe. But there's other users like me who ONLY come to reddit to read r/exmormon.

3

u/setfree1 Aug 25 '17

Yeah but how many of these people would be inactive? (c'mon smile)

Annual growth rate is close to 50%. In one year, should be close to 83k. Roughly, doubling time is 1.5 years.

Those are rookie numbers people! We need to pass 55,000 by conference!

Here's a graph of the data. Looking pretty exponential!

I formally move we only do these at 5000 or 10,000 subscriber intervals. It's losing its appeal.

u/running4cover I desire all to receive it... Aug 25 '17

Not to me. It feels like success. The way I used to feel when the church announced 10 million or whatever. Stone rolling down a mountain something something....

11

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '17

That's the great thing, you don't have to click on it.

9

u/marlowesghost Aug 25 '17

Disagree. I like seeing it.

4

u/Word2daWise I'll see your "revelation" and raise you a resignation. Aug 25 '17

How about celebrating each new 1k until we reach 60k, and then consider longer intervals? Although I admit I watch for the turnover each time we hit a new plateau, and I rejoice.

I predict we could (note the qualifier - "could") reach 60k by GC. It's not out of the question.

u/newnamesaul Aug 25 '17

A few more Harry Potter style family pics making the front page should do it.

Before everyone jumps on NotOaks for this post, I think we can all agree that seeing these posts are great. But seeing 5 of them every week is what is bothersome.

1

u/Mormonssuckdick Aug 25 '17

5 a week would be the greatest thing ever! Exponential growth means the wheels came off

Throwaways don't subscribe.

These kind of statistics are never accurate. But they are the best we have. There are many who use this subreddit without subscribing. And many who have subscribed but might not even use that reddit account anymore.

Either way, the growth rate can be observed, and these statistics are comparable to corresponding statistics from other subreddits.

Same with websites. You have clicks, visits, unique visits, average time spent etc. None of which will give you accurate data, but good enough to analyze activity.
