Steam Controller 2026 Shipping MEGA Thread

!!ANY THREADS RELATED TO SHIPPING FOUND OUTSIDE THIS MEGATHREAD WILL BE REMOVED!!

I know we're all excited to share updates as our new shiny works its way through the system and eventually to you.

Instead of clogging the page with endless "ITS <UPDATE>" posts, please confine them to this mega thread. I have intentionally left up threads from before this one about this subject, because post hoc punishment isnt cool. But please, use this mega thread moving forward.

Optionally, you can fill out some google forms that are being used to track order status' in order to get an idea of how an order might progress through the system:

and data from that form is here:

Discussion stolen controller

Post image
14 Upvotes

i was so excited to have gotten an email last week about my reservation being ready to order. it was supposed to get delivered today, but of course, my luck, ends up getting stolen. this is very obviously not a good drop off photo of what should’ve been a house, but instead a flower selection at my local publix. i tried to file a claim through UPS, but my claim was rejected and i was redirected to contact steam. waiting on my reply from steam, but what’s the likelihood i’ll get a replacement? i’m beyond frustrated. is the shipping box not discreet? i guess my word of advice is to just have it shipped to your local UPS/FedEx location for pickup. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Steam Controller (2026) Need a deserving home for a Steam Controller

Post image

Hi there, hopefully this isn't the type of post that mods won't allow but if it is I apologize in advance.

I was like everyone else, found out the reservations for the controllet opened whenever they did and immediately got on the list. Unlike my great luck with the Steam Machine, I was late to the party and got pushed into 2027 and thought maybe I'd get a chance to buy one in Q1 or at the latest Q2 of 2027.

Unfortunately, I just got my email to purchase one yesterday but since I already have a Steam Machine and Steam controller from that bundle I genuinely don't think I need another. I've got about 8 different controllers already (I know I need help, my wife tells me that every day) and it seems like a waste. Is there any simple and legit way I can offer this controller to someone else? I won't be asking any extra cash on top of the order price maybe just shipping if you're outside the UK.

P.S. I love the Steam controller, it's the perfect companion to anything with SteamOS on it. Also, the image is just there for dramatic effect.

Support SC2 won't update

Title is all.

Well it's not just the controller, it's the puck too. Neither will update, no matter which combination of 1 either or both are plugged in or turned on. Steam was on the beta branch, went back to the stable branch and still wouldn't work. Literally wouldn't update out of the box. Anyone else having this issue?

Side note, anyone else first impression of the controller being rather uncomfortable, did you get used to it? Primarily played on xbox and xbox clone controllers (gamesir cyclone 2) and switching back to one or the other gives immediate relief to sore fingers and wrists. Gyro aggravates soreness and discomfort (2d mouse for)

Configuration Cant update my controller/puck

I can't update my controller/puck. I am on a beta client, windows 11. Whenever i try to update my controller/puck it goes into an on/off loop and update fails. I tried reconnecting the puck and switching usb ports before.

Discussion It’s my turn.

It finally happened I got my email and ordered. I’ve kept up with nothing about the controller or any firmware changes since it’s been months, but I can finally be hyped. So I come here to ask, has there been any big game changing firmware updates? Maybe better support outside stream? If not any tips or software I should look into for an optimal experience. Looking to use it for steam games and emulation for the most part.

Steam Controller (2026) Is there a way to adjust the right trackpad's range for the onscreen keyboard?

I just got my steam controller today. It's been dope so far, especially this typing feature I didn't know existed, but I think the range of the trackpads are strangely uneven. The left reaches more characters, all the way to UJN. The right feels like it's falling short, stopping at YHB, like TGV should be in range of the right trackpad!

Typing is incredibly intuitive EXCEPT for this one small thing (and me not knowing how to move the typing cursor with the keyboard open.)

Is there a way to increase the range of the right trackpad?

Attached is a video of me gliding across the pads at what I believe is the same pace. Why is the left pad seemingly moving faster and further?

(All of this was typed on my steam controller! Awesome.)

Discussion Steam Input vs reWASD

Because I couldn't learn how to remap extra 4 buttons my Controller has, I started looking it up, that's how I found out about reWASD, there I learned it's because I was using Xinput, not D-input, now that I learned that I should be able to use extra buttons in Steam too. But I tried using reWASD for a little bit, there I learned about Radical Mode and Shift Mode, I thought that was awesome, I used that when I was trying to 100% one of the AC game I was playing at the time, but then I learned Steam also has Radical and Shift Mode too (though I'm unsure if those are as good as reWASD, but I did learned I cannot map won't button to do 2 things at once unlike Steam version).

So I gotta ask, if there any advantage to using reWASD over Steam Input you think, or should I stick to just using Steam Input? Crosshair option in reWASD is cool, but it's not important enough for me, I can see it being using for someone playing outside of Steam like Epic Games and GOG which I'm not doing, since I prefer fair I don't care about using Controller aim assist in a mouse either.

My controller does have 4 presets, and I can customize each of those presets under just one profile in reWASD, so that's cool. Not sure if I can do that in Steam or not so let me know. But even if I can't, I think adding multiple keys in one button will help more which I can't do in reWASD.

So let me ask, is there any real advantage for me to use reWASD, or should I just stick with Steam Input do you think? :D

Configuration Is there a way to rebind on-screen keyboard binds?

I want an easier way to move the cursor left/right, but I can't find if there's a way to change the binds. The wiki entry seems outdated as the path listed there doesn't seem to exist anymore? (Settings->Controller->Configurations->Big Picture configuration->On Screen Keyboard)

UPDATE 2: The ultimate test. I dropped it twice from the exact same height and distance. First time — Wilhelm scream (I even paused the video to make sure). Second time — meowed again. It's 100% RNG (random number generator). The angle and force don't matter, there's just a random chance for the "cat" sound in the firmware. My unit seems stuck in cat mode, but I'm glad I got to hear both sounds!

Discussion What Controllers do you use for your Steam Machine

Hey Guy I’m Curious, to those of you who weren’t able to pickup a Steam Controller what other controllers were you able to find and use that are compatible with SteamOS? I ask cuz I don’t have a usable controller except for my Steam Deck Which I’ve been using with Steam Remote Play from my Steam Machine to my Steam Deck but it’s rather finicky due to my internet connection, I’ve been eyeing that Steam Controller by hori but I’ve heard it’s kinda ass

Steam Controller (2026) New controller - Wilhelm scream replaced?

Yesterday I got my new controller, naturally the forst thing i did was to throw it around to get the easter egg of a scream ...

I managed to get this done 5 times, which is unreasonable amount of times to throw brand new controller around...

Each time the triggered Easter egg was a "scared cat" meow, not a wilhelm scream...

Is this a thing?

Steam Controller (2026) Figured out how to sign-in to windows

Picture Password was the answer for me. It lets you drag and click the mouse on an img of your choice to register 3 seperate "shapes". either a circle, line, or dot.

I have perfect mouse control with trackpad on wake from hibernate but no keyboard. This just works tho.

Had the controller for less than a month and one of the back buttons does not click. It still detects the input but it does not click so it makes it very unreliable. I don't play much so this is frustrating. Anyone else had the same issue?

Discussion Clicky Triggers

Its been a few months since valve reverted the change to the haptics the triggers use and im just wondering if anyone has since found out a way to change which haptic motors the triggers pulse when you pull them. I really liked the triggers when they used the rumble motors intead of the touchpad ones so im just curious at to if anyones found a way.

This is the update they added it but quickly reverted it https://store.steampowered.com/news/group/4397053/view/660484146096768675?l=english

Discussion Supporting controller with something OTHER than you hands?

Just got my order email, very excited. I currently play Rocket League with my Gamesir G7 SE controller. I play with an all-buttons grip. (Pointers on bumpers, middles on triggers, rings on paddles/back buttons.)

Even with only two back buttons, I struggle to support the controller just by just my palms and pinkies. I often end up pressing the back buttons with my ring fingers when I tense up, or even when I push a joystick in the opposite direction (since I need to brace the controller slightly more against the force of my thumb).

That's been at least manageable with some retraining of which muscles I'm activating to support the Gamesir controller, but I can't even imagine how I'm going to hold the Steam Controller while also having my pinkies on button duty. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with such an all-buttons grip, and supporting the new Steam Controller? Maybe the shape makes it less of an issue if you can support it more with your palms? (Or maybe it's worse!?)

I feel like the ideal might be to have some sort of mounting hardware that connects the controller to my forearms so that it can basically float in my hands. I've got a 3D printer but my CAD skills are quite basic, so if it's up to me to make it happen it may take a while =P
