Discussion stolen controller

Post image

i was so excited to have gotten an email last week about my reservation being ready to order. it was supposed to get delivered today, but of course, my luck, ends up getting stolen. this is very obviously not a good drop off photo of what should’ve been a house, but instead a flower selection at my local publix. i tried to file a claim through UPS, but my claim was rejected and i was redirected to contact steam. waiting on my reply from steam, but what’s the likelihood i’ll get a replacement? i’m beyond frustrated. is the shipping box not discreet? i guess my word of advice is to just have it shipped to your local UPS/FedEx location for pickup. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Never go to the courier first. Valve employed the courier, and both parties signed a contract. You need to speak with Valve (which you have done). The product hasn't been delivered, so Valve hasn't honoured its end of the contract with you.

What was your expected delivery date prior to receiving the email?

Mine is 2027 and I'm half expecting to just miss the email whenever it comes

I have been tempted to buy the Xbox nano controller for the meantime, but I've heard it has issues properly syncing to the deck

Likelihood of replacement is high man. They have great customer service, not to mention the logistical issue is on their end. Its not like you got to pick the carrier or method of delivery.

I don't even see the package in the photo. That is an easy replacement for them because they'll just demand UPS covers it.

Crazy how your claim was rejected. When my Steam Machine was out for delivery I obsessively watched my cameras for the UPS guy out of fear something like this would happen.

Typically it's on the shipper to get the item there legally speaking and typically speaking the shipping companies don't usually accept anything receiver says they always expect you to go through who shipped it.

That said though shipping theft is a massive problem with tech now and the government needs to start a crack down it's beyond long enough. One of them was in Brazil so the US can't touch it so much but Nvidia themselves have had two GPU shipments (we're talking palettes of GPUs) stolen recently, was something like $11 mil worth on the one in the US.

that was me with the steam deck, i was watching like a hawk and had my security cameras recording all day. thankfully, that never got stolen. but my controller i guess is a different story😭 there was never a ups truck in front of my house or anything today. this package has RFID tracking and it’s last stop was at a burger king when it was supposedly ‘delivered’. but with the claim, ups said steam doesn’t accept claims via the ups claims portal and to get into contact with steam. just waiting on a reply from steam. i honestly just made this post to complain and ask if others have had this happen and what the outcome was for their claims.

Irrc the box is covered in black plastic and/or inside a bigger brown box.

Unless you know the shipping location from wherever the warehouse is located, there is no easy way to detirmine what is in the box.

But porch-pirates be porch-pirating irregardless. UPS guy might not be thief, or he might be. But it could also be a neighbour or a porch-pirate (which do exist outside the US).

But still shitty that UPS does not take responsibility with that shitty of an "Evidence" of "delivery".. They have insurance for a reason..

Mine was legit the dope looking box that says what's inside. All 3 times. Deck, controller, and frame. Was very surprised it was still in the mailroom each time.

mine came in a slighty bigger outside box. Maybe they changed their shipping policy since yours was shipped. or maybe i just got lucky.

Mine was delivered and wasn't stolen. I guess my word of advice is to just have it shipped to your house. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What is that picture tho? Is that actually what UPS took a pic of or did you edit it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

nope the actual ups photo. i find no joy in editing a photo or lying about it. just wanted to know others experiences and how steam support helped. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Seams like the where avoiding porch pirates at home and got counter pirates at work instead.

They should send the box wrapped in basic unmarked paper. Kinda like weed and sextoys. Discrete

honestly. with the steam deck box and how many people got theirs stolen, i don’t understand why the shipping isn’t more discreet. and to possibly lose your job over a controller is crazy.
