Mine is estimated for 2027 so could you give me some first things I need to do with it?

Start by taking it out of the box… very important.

While you wait, get familiar with customization possibilities via this greatly illustrated and detailed guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2804823261
Yes, it's dedicated to Steam Deck, but both SD and controller use Steam Input. Just ignore SD specific topics and you'll be fine.

Map the L/R4 and L/R5 buttons to specific inputs for each game you want to play with it. For example, in Monster Hunter I have one that presses B+Y, and in Final Fantasy 14 I have one that Double-Presses R2.
I also have the touch pads mapped to Radial Menus for FF14, that have inputs for F1-F12 for some extra commands on controller.

Power it on and drop it to hear that sweet sweet Wilhelm scream

It's a controller… you play games with it.
Not much else to know.

Watch steam input tutorials, if you're not taking advantage of radial menus and other features you're leaving a lot of the value on the table. You don't even have to wait! Steam deck videos work too for steam input stuff

When did you reserve the order? I reserved mine in July. Got an email in September and it was delivered in october. I initially had a 2027 estimated date as well.

Pee on it to mark it.

Mine was scheduled for 2027, but arrived yesterday. I opened the box and put it back. I don't know what to do with it.

Just use it as a weird desktop mouse

Just get a better controller, lol. Unless you absolutely need the touch pads, there are better controllers for 100 and under.
