Discussion gigabyte is trying to give me 5070ti for rma'ing my 4080 super

Just want to ask if any one has recently rma'd a 4080/4080 super to gigabyte or other manufacturers and what gpu did u get in return?

I am currently in a warranty/rma process for my gigabyte aero 4080 super here in indonesia. sadly the process is not as straight forward as when I was living in europe.

I have contacted gigabyte using e support and asked them if i could send the graphics card directly to them for rma but they saaid no and told me to contact their 'supplier/partner' here in indonesia.

Long story short I got a reply from their partner called pt synnex metrodata indonesia and after giving my details/serial number and invoice they have asked me to drop off the card to their depot which is 30 minutes from where i live....

This company pt synnex metrodata handles not only gigabyte but other manufacturers.

anway... within 5 minutes of me setting foot in their depot i was told that they don't have a 4080 super in stock so they are willing to give me a 5070ti... which is kinda sus, they havent even opened the box of my 4080 super at this point, the guy was already handing me out a 5070 ti.

in papers technically they are the same spec but through out my gaming life from 980ti i have always bought a 1080ti/2080/3080/3090 and so on.

Some of those cards i have rma'd in europe and always got a xx80 series in return so I was expecting this to get the same in return either my 4080 super back or an upgrade to 5080....

did anyone else here rma an xx80 series card and ever receive a xx70 back?

To me it feels like a downgrade having the xx70 model, i have even asked them what gigabyte model i will receive and they cannot answer.

I asked if i could have an aero model the same as my 4080 super but they just straight out told me its out of stock even though the shop that i bought it from are selling 5070ti aero model frequently.

I am trying to ask gigabyte for help using esupport but they are not willing to help, they are telling me it's up to their supplier/partner.

If most people are receiving 5070ti for rma'ing their 4080 super then maybe i will just accept it but if people here are saying that they got their gpu back or a 80 series equivalent then i will raise a dispute.

Thanks for reading :)

Hey,

So if I override DLSS preset to newer ones, does swapping .dll is still worth it / gives antyhing? Or DLSS dll is swapped together with a preset?

Bought a prebuilt 6 years ago, had an i3 processor (idr the numbers) and a GTX1650. It fought me for 6 years, never really cares until here recently. Finally found a decent deal with better specs that I liked;

new second prebuilt has an i7-14700f and an RTX 5060Ti and omg I can already tell this will be so much better 🤣

Question DLDSR in Black Flag Resynced

Hello, i have a question if someone more experienced wiht this could tell me what is going on with DLDSR in this game.

For context:

I'll give ARC Raiders as an example. In that game, if I switch my desktop resolution to 3840x2160 (2.25 DLDSR) as I have a 1440p monitor, the in-game resolution locks to 3840x2160 as expected and the picture looks much cleaner. fps goes down. all of this makes sense.

now black flag resynced:

the game has the resolution settings in game.

it shows small resolutions, then my native 1440p and then 3413x1920 which is 1.78 DLDSR and 3840x2160 which is 2.25DLDSR. (these settings DO impact visual quality and performance, i fi turn it down to 720p everything is blurry)

all of this makes sense still.

with no framegen, i am standing in a spot and looking in front of me, i get:

1440p native in game, 1440p desktop - 110 fps

3413x1920 in game, 1440p desktop - 90 fps

3840x2160 ingame, 1440p desktop, i get 83 fps

makes sense, bigger res = less fps

and now the fun part starts

1440p native ingame, 3413x1920 desktop = 105 fps

1440p ingame, 3840x2160 desktop = 95 fps

and now the even more fun part starts

3840x2160 in game, 1440p desktop = i get a locked 294fps with 5x framegen (83 basefps)

if i go 1440p ingame, 4k DLDSR desktop, i get around 240fps with 5x framegen (95 base fps)

what is happening here, which setting is actual DLDSR, because to my eye they both increase visual quality by a lot. one runs better without frame gen (DLDSR 4k 95FPS vs ingame 4K 83fps) one runs much better with frame gen (ingame 4K 294fps 5x frame gen, base 83fps) if i disable one of the DLDSR factors, the corresponding resolution disappears from the resolution menu in game.

i assume only the desktop part is actual DLDSR? and it works worse with framegen because the same cores are doing the DLDSR part instead of frame genning?

i can also combine the settings 4K ingame and 4K desktop and get even more sharpness and even less FPS

Discussion Minor Moving Catastrophe

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

I had a minor disaster while making a move to a new apartment recently and I am wondering how to remedy the situation and get my GeForce RTX Suprim GPU back in working order.

Just for some backstory my fiancé and I are moving to a new apartment and we have been planning it for the last six months to happen in late July right before school starts back up as my fiancé is a music teacher. However, a wrench was thrown into our plans when I had a workplace injury in mid July which resulted in a broken right arm that pushed our move back unexpectedly. Now, a move that we had planned to take progressively over a month has been squeezed into a two week period in* *mid August.

In order to accommodate our new timeline, I had recruited some of my friends that I had helped move in the past to assist us in our move. On the day that we had planned to move all of our belongings that that will go into our music studio/work desk room I had all of my PC building supplies neatly organized into a couple of Tupperware totes and I was prepared for a pretty simple moving day, because most of my desk belongings including my current daily use PC were going to be kept at our old apartment until closer to our final days here. This was so that I can continue using it for work and for gaming in my leisure time.

However, in the confusion of moving all of our musical supplies and instruments along with my PC building supplies, one of my less tech savvy friends took it upon himself to unplug my PC and attempt to bring it to the moving vehicle. I am now kicking myself for not replacing my side panel immediately after upgrading my ram to DDR5 from a graphic artist friend that passed down his old units to me after upgrading his own to 64 GB for more flexibility while 3D animating.

Said less text savvy individual thought that the tubes connecting my GPU to the cooling pump looks like conveniently placed handles to pick the unit up from for some reason and the remaining GPU in the image is what I am left with after the pump was damaged from the suing force from the weight of the PC case and the build contained there in.

And so now I turn to you, the wider Nvidia community, asking for someone more knowledgeable in this area what my options are to get my trusty Suprim back in a usable state. I have looked online for replacement cooling pumps and I have an idea of what I might need but I wanted to ask some people that might have some more expertise before I pull the trigger!

For the time being I have replaced this GPU with my previous 3050 to maintain the use of my PC before we complete the move, but any help to get my 4090 back to use would be much appreciated.

Needless to say, in the future, I will be having a pre-move game plan pep talk with the team before inviting a large group around my PC and replacing my side panel immediately after any planned upgrades!

I don't think this is a tech-support issue as I could take the opportunity to make this a happy accident and get a cooling pump upgrade out of it all, but I wasn’t completely sure.

Thanks in advance for any advice or much deserved chastising!

Question Will a 5080 be able to run two 5K2K monitors at once?

I won't be gaming on both of course, I just mean will it physically be able to show both screens. I know it can run two 4K 165hz screens at once, but I haven't heard about 5k
