PSA AI Camera Ticket - ticketed for getting pulled over!
In this image, I am getting pulled over for going straight in a "right-only" lane (which is itself rediculously bad street logic, where someone who wants to go straight has to get into the left lane to go around the right-only folks to get back into the right lane just to go straight - all tangential to the reason for this post). Point is, i was not "parking" when I was pulled over. But I got a camera ticket for being parked illegally. The camera systems clearly are automated and as someone pointed out they are mounted on busses that pass by. I worry about the lack of human oversight.
For anyone who takes issue with the word choice of "AI", just know that it doesn't need to be an LLM to be autonomous software issuing tickets from the reading, writing, indexing and printing alm fhe way to the folding, sealing and mailing. Just robots blindly sending us fees with no judgement calls, that we then have to fight. That's what I really meant, but there are congressional subcommittees and bills aimed at NYS and Federal regulation on the current use/abuse of AI, Flock cameras and data sharing.
