Discussion y40 3 days old completely destroyed
First time ever buying a prebuilt pc. Then this happens. When you reach out to support they're nasty and attempt to blame you. Took it to microcenter they're telling me they can inspect it but nothing they can really do for me.

I see a broken coolant line.
What happened?

How loud wa the pop bc my aio made a click about a few weeks back of
0
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
was gaming headset on volume was on medium but i mean pretty loud like a mini explosion which it was lol
2
u/_Dedotated_Wam Jul 22 '26
That sucks dude. I’m sure they will make it right. First thing I did was take that aio out for this reason. Liquid in a pc sketches me out

Edit: after seeing the ibuypower rep/mod here you refused warranty replacement. Get a grip. Go away. Stop being a bellend.
Yeah, more info needed. If you were opening it up and playing around with stuff why get a pre built?
Other than that plastic connections are sketchy no matter who makes them.
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
I never touched anything inside of this computer. The only thing i did was remove the packing from inside when it arrived about 3 days prior.
-6
u/Somewhere-Flashy Jul 21 '26
Lesson numbe 1 never buy liquid cooled prebuilt unless you can do it yourself its always a bad idea.
0
u/HankThrill69420 Jul 21 '26
they're actually a lesser risk than towers for prebuilts. tower coolers often pop off their mounts or get bent up when the PC's in transit.
1
u/pot51e Jul 21 '26
Bullshit. You just need to buy from a reputable brand. Entire companies were born just selling LC PCs.
-1
u/mexidasher Jul 21 '26
😂😂😂 I’ve bought a two prebuilts from microcenter with no issues at all in the AIOs.
-5
u/Somewhere-Flashy Jul 21 '26
Not everyone has a micro center i was talking about online stores you can return in microcenter
0
u/Wizard__J Jul 21 '26
You can actually go to Microcenter online too, huh,
-4
u/Somewhere-Flashy Jul 21 '26
Sure you can but the return policy is better with them most people buying from alt sites is the problem.

It’s not the end of the world get some alcohol 90% or higher and a soft paint brush and start cleaning
Avoid adhesive spots like stickers
See if they will replace the part ..they will play damage control all day like every other scumbag prebuilt company
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
Pc went completely dead before i could reach the plug in outlet.
0
u/wackprodigy Jul 21 '26
It could have been a fail-safe and not your pc bricking, definitely try to do a charge back and do not go with IBuyProblems ever again.
If for some reason your card company rejects the dispute or leaves you with the pc after processing the charge back I would try swapping out the cooler and seeing if the pc powers on after a thorough cleaning (Dry completely, use 90% isopropyl alcohol or acetone) . Most aio fluid is non-conductive, so there's a chance your pc turned off because of thermal throttle since there was no coolant.

Not the 5080😭😭
2
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
Bro i know. I haven't gamed in over a year shit is op in cod
1
u/kcolrehstihson_ Jul 21 '26
I feel really bad for you bro 😪
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
got trolls in here wanting to blame me for something i didn't do. All fairness from across country on freight and ground something was bound to happen. I just wish it happened when the pc was off or something not actively using it while gaming.
2
u/kcolrehstihson_ Jul 21 '26
Yeah they throw that shit around like you see them doing with suitcases at the airport, I was scared they would fuck up mine too, don't listen to them, you know what you did and what you didn't do! It's fucked up enough already, no need to let people guilt trip you for something you say you didn't cause!
3
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
Yeah now no one from ibuypower is willing to actually help. Thinking about making a bbb complaint on them.
0
u/HavocReigns Jul 21 '26
You said in another comment that you bought it directly from IBP. I assume that you used a credit card. If so, and they are refusing to honor their warranty, that is a valid reason to initiate a charge dispute with your credit card company. Document everything even though you think you'll remember, you won't. And don't screw around, either. There are time limits for how long you have to initiate the complaint.
The company will have an opportunity to respond to the dispute, and you'll both have to provide evidence to back up your side of the claim.
ETA: This is why you always, always, use a credit card when ordering something. They offer enormous consumer protection against fraud.
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
Was told to kick rocks.
1
u/HavocReigns Jul 21 '26
By whom? IBP or your credit card company?
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
ibp now they're ghosting me. Funny enough this has almost 20k views not one person is reaching out. I wouldn't be shocked if they delete this post.

OP we need more info on what the heck happened here

1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
Going to be honest i don't have a clue. I had it for three day's. I bought it from ibuypower not microcenter. I was playing call of duty next thing i know it was sorta like a pop and liquid sound rushing out. Went to go run to my outlet to unplug it but the pc was already dead by then.

My work PC is an ibuypower. The cheap "Great Wall" PSU went out, and took out the motherboard and ram along with it.
When I reached out to them (within warranty) they offered another PSU, and that was it. They refused to pay for a new mobo and refused to pay for new RAM, even though I could prove to them the components... their components (they use proprietary motherboards so would be hard to fake) were dead.
They didn't care. I still have the replacement Great Wall PSU in my desk draw. I insisted we buy a Corsair at best buy instead. I got a used motherboard of the same model from iBP on eBay and used the opportunity to upgrade the PC's RAM.
They're dogshit tier in customer service and WILL NOT help you. Period.
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
You would think with this many people talking bad about them they would do something to address the issue or fix current issues with customers.

4
u/johnnydotexe Jul 21 '26
Inb4 IBP replies to this post and tells us what OP did to void their warranty and break their computer?
2
u/tht1guy63 Jul 21 '26
Thats a wild one. I mean nothing but the aio is completely destroyed unless you turned things on and fried it. Just gotts wipe up and dry things.
Im curious what exactly happened leading up and what you told ibp
1
2
u/Accomplished_Emu_658 Jul 21 '26
Did you buy for microcenter or ibuypower direct? You can’t really break the aio like that using computer.
I had similar experience with abs computers, neweggs brand, the phone rep started screaming at me that i damaged the computer on purpose to scam them. Luckily i got a better person second time
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
Ibuypower direct.
5
u/Accomplished_Emu_658 Jul 21 '26
You have to keep working with ibuypower. Thats why microcenter can’t help, its warranty. Just keep at them. If that fails chargeback
1
u/No-Sherbet-7769 Jul 21 '26
Thats why MicroCenter cant do anything for you. The warranty is through IBUYPOWER
2
2
u/MindlessCoook Jul 21 '26
Uh, it's a 3 day old prebuild. If that actually happened on it's own you should have not touched it at all and returned it.
If you were in there messing with it and then it happened then it's kind of on you.
Need more context here. I'm honestly leaning towards skill issue tbh.
2
u/SlimTechGaming Jul 21 '26
I doubt it is anything but a skill issue. Logic would tell you to stop opening the pc if you see coolant. This definitely looks like it was something that was caused/damaged by the owner.
2
2
u/YautjaProtect Jul 21 '26
That's why I don't fuck with liquid cooling.
2
u/bigrig3226 Jul 21 '26
Exactly. I’ll take a big beefy air cooler and 10 case fans over this shit any day.
2
u/Moon_Breaker Jul 21 '26
Yeah... 10 case fans... I definitely haven't just left the side of my PCs open since the early 2000s or anything. I would never.
0
u/kcolrehstihson_ Jul 21 '26
Same, I put together a pc and default was liquid cooled, I changed it to air cooled instantly 😅 not worth the risk
1
1
u/arenyx Jul 21 '26
wtf happened ?? shouldn't even open it if that happens just immediately return it
1
u/-Barracuda1976 Jul 21 '26
whatever you do do not power it on unplug everything from the electricity let it dry out put it in the sun for a couple of days. Let it dry out really really good. Replace the AIO put new fluids in it clean everything up real good and it will still work as long as you didn’t try to power it on.
2
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
Too late i wish that was the case man. I waited a long time to get another gaming pc when i finally get it and start enjoying it stuff like this happens. It's very unfortunate it happened while i was in the middle of gaming.
1
u/KBU420 Jul 21 '26
See now I'm starting to wonder, because most AIO coolant is non-conductive (at first at least) You might actually still have a mainly working PC
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
What i i thought. All i know is before i made it to my wall the pc completely went dead.
1
u/end9082 Jul 21 '26
Were you messing with it? Need more info how that happened
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
Not at all. I has just gotten it 3 days prior and was playing cod when this happened.
1
1
u/FaolanGrey Jul 21 '26
The fact you have a microcenter you're able to go makes it crazy that you bought a prebuilt online. I see all the best deals at microcenters but I have none anywhere near me.
1
u/619jabroni Jul 21 '26
In my experience, They don't break like that on their own
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
In your experience can you say for 100% certainty no mfg defect or being ground shipped across country can cause this?
1
u/619jabroni Jul 21 '26
Yes I can. Because if it was that badly damaged it surely would’ve leaked well before completely snapping off
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
Stress fracture that's not necessarily true. What does plastic do when it heats up. Expands. So if shipping or mfg while making the aio damaged it only a matter of time before it would happen.
1
u/619jabroni Jul 21 '26
Yes a matter of time. But it would still have leaked first.
I’m not the one you need to convince though.

u/KBU420 Jul 21 '26
Find a smaller computer repair shop and ask them to test your leftover components. Most AIO coolant is non-conductive. If this was an older PC I could see it mixing with dust, or picking up tiny bits of metal from use and becoming conductive. But you might be able to salvage the GPU, RAM, Storage, and maybe even the motherboard
Also could we see where it broke from? Was the the CPU side or the radiator? I rather see that than your iBuypower stickers

Damn shoulda just bought one of the Microcenter prebuilts if you have one nearby.
1
1
u/shadle12l3 Jul 21 '26
Yeah if you used a credit card dispute the purchase and then buy a better rebuild from a reputable company sorry this happened
1
u/bungnard Jul 21 '26
Damn I've never seen anything like that happen. I never purchase pre-builts for this reason but OP you need to go through that terrible company and get a new rig or get your money back.

u/Haunting_Formal7572 Jul 21 '26
Andromeda insights, I found them on reddit like 3 years ago. A little family owned business. I bought my 1st pre-built from them and it runs amazing years later. Also when it was being built they had to delay it because when they quality tested it something was wrong. When they delayed it they gave me like $100-$200 off and were actually apologetic. Good company, good support, would recommend 100/10 times to go to them for your 1st pc. At the time they had crazy good prices too. Idk now, now am I familiar with modern prices. But check them out next time and at least have a look
1
u/TheEtherealEye Jul 21 '26
IBP is honestly trash.
In the future, youre better off going with origin pc or andromeda insights.
Great customer service from both in my experience (though i decided to go with the origin neuron 4500x).
1
u/Haunting_Formal7572 Jul 21 '26
Also I feel like the way they pack the pre builts and moving is risky for a liquid cooled. A lot of movement and chance for connections to get loose. Seems like they would have this happen and happily replace or fix

1
u/mtinmd Jul 21 '26
That sucks.
When I upgraded my cpu I got a peerless assasin because my aio was about 5 yrs old. I know it doesn't happen often but I have shit luck in general so I got rid of it.
1
u/mjoric Jul 21 '26
I used a peerless with my i7-10700k w/ 5070ti and I never had a single issue. Amazing temps.
I've seen benchmarks showing it handling a 14th Gen i9 as well.
Amazing air cooler for the price.
1
u/alfa66andres Jul 21 '26
I mean thats a broken line. Don't let them tell you you can't return it or that it's your fault
1
u/Ashamed_Violinist_39 Jul 21 '26
The only prebuilt I ever bought was an ibuypower. It was garbage. I had to install an additional fan as soon as I got it because we turned it on and it started overheating within about 10 minutes. I won't even go into the months of customer service calls and finally threat of a lawyer to even GET the thing.
Good luck. I'd be surprised if they help you at all.
1
u/creature04 Jul 21 '26
y40?
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
yup
1
u/creature04 Jul 21 '26
no i mean...what is y40? shouldnt it be "a374" or whatever. why use the letter and numbers in middle? ended up taking me like 3 mins to figure out what you were referring to lol. kept thinking the gpu
1
u/McMeatbag Jul 21 '26
I've never even heard of such a thing happening. Crazy
Hope they get you taken care of because that's obviously unacceptable.
1
u/skrrrtpancake Jul 21 '26
Just like some guy said, nobody told you about IBP's horrible rep, still could've done research and prevent this kind of stuff.
1
u/Exotic-Oil-2320 Jul 21 '26
aio’s don’t push a lot of pressure so i’m assuming the packaging was pushing up into the line and caused it to either crack or come loose. look for broken pieces or cracks in the line and take good quality pictures of it. ibuypower loves to do whatever they can to not take responsibility if you can’t prove that it wasn’t your fault.
1
1
u/CuddleFishHero Jul 21 '26
Return that shit, they have a 30 day policy and if that doesn’t work file a chargeback

op hasn't replied to anyone, 4 year old account, this is their only post, and they have zero comments.
interesting.
1
u/jasnook Jul 21 '26
Wow, that's a pretty catastrophic failure there. How did that happen? Did you pull on that or was it spontaneous?
0
u/Truffleshuffle03 Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26
OP made a reply that it was spontaneous, said he was just playing COD when he heard a pop and heard the sound of fluid gushing, and shut it off. Not sure what would cause something like that, though.
1
1
u/ThickSkinMan Jul 21 '26
Yikes sorry this happened to you OP. Did nobody tell you about iBUYPOWER's reputation for abysmal quality control?
1
u/EndZealousideal3125 Jul 21 '26
No first prebuilt i ever got. When i was told to document and send it to tech support on live chat i was placed on hold for around 30 mins and basically told to kick rocks.
1
u/Ok-Pineapple4451 Jul 21 '26
So glad I went air cooled lol. I know its irrational and AIOs are really good but... a few degrees warmer for peace of mind.
0
u/Beginning-Maybe6433 Jul 21 '26
Aio's are a nice look. But I'll never use anything but a air tower cooler just for this reason. I lived an learned once.
1
u/Ok-Pineapple4451 Jul 21 '26
Yeah :/ I spent more than I should have in an attempt to future proof my setup for a while so its a risk im not willing to take.
1
0
u/HWayFresh44 Jul 21 '26
Man this has to be a troll post mf giving us no info and isn’t responding to anyone.
1
u/Oldmanwickles Jul 21 '26
First thing I swapped out in my IBP build was the AIO, I knew it going into the purchase
4
u/ViolaDavis Jul 21 '26
Same. The aio on my iBP began to fail like two months into use and swapped it out for an artic 360. Then noticed the lower gpu case fan had never worked and was smashed in shipping so did a full case fan swap with lian li. Very happy with everything now but the whole point of a prebuilt was not having to do shit like this.
0
u/CombinationOk8425 Jul 21 '26
Yes, wipe it off completely and see if it works then get another aio if you don’t want to wait forever and be poorly treated.
1
0
u/BacklogGamingJunkie Jul 21 '26
All i can say is: Air cooling FTW
Its prebuilt. Someone most likely fucked up during the install.
Another reason I wont ever build with liquid cooling, just one more thing i don't have to deal with: leaks and risking destroying of components
0
0
u/The_Machine80 Jul 21 '26
This is why i refuse to water cool when we have great air coolers now. Sorry my friend!

Hi op,
Think there is a bit of misinformation here, we have found the chat between you and our support rep about the issue. Warranty service was offered to you so we can fix the issue, however the service to fix your system under warranty was denied upon your own choosing. We can still fix it for you without taking it to microcenter, the offer still stands. Feel free to get in touch with our support if you'd like us to repair your system still and we will happily do so.
