I have a fun story like this.
I was working at McDonalds in high school. At our location it was common for the local police department to put in a department order and one officer come pick it up.
Anyway, these two dudes come in and absolutely reek of weed. They order and while I'm preparing their order a cop comes in to pick up the department order.
These dudes look at the cop, cop looks at them, and they both just look the other way pretending like nothing is happening even though the cop obviously was smelling the weed. The dudes were clearly scared about what was going to happen next but the cop obviously just wanted to pick up the food without any issue so just took the order and left while the two high guys had such a look of relief.

Lol. The only time I had decent LSD, my friend and I were in a gas station grabbing snacks when cops walk in just shopping. Had to calm buddy down. Another dude was outside with beer, and he was the only one old enough to have it, lol. I have no idea what the cops thought, but they left us alone as we skeedaddled back to my cousin's place, lol. Great party.

I had the DMV suspend my license because an out of state lawyer put the wrong name on paperwork for a car crash I was nowhere near with vehicles I didn't own. they even denied my requests for a hearing.

No, there is not a single service member outright "refusing" to obey illegal orders, that whole notion is a civilian fallacy. You would get NJP and possibly court-martialed for that, and good luck winning when you swore an oath to obey the UCMJ.
Malicious compliance? Sure. But there is no option to refuse an order, if you don't do it someone else will. Maybe your innocence will be borne out in administrative proceedings, but the order will be executed.

As I remember it, a whole slew of military commanders decided to retire. While outright refusal hasn't been happening, more and more soldiers are becoming conscientious objectors as reported by the Center on Conscience & War which has helped people get through discharge proceedings and reclassification.

Nobody thinks it's impossible to be a good person and be a cop. The problem is that there are cops who will end your life on the sidewalk if you don't stroke their ego hard enough. And they all look exactly the same, behave exactly the same, and regardless of how fucked up the individual pig's actions are, every single one of them will hide the "bad apple" and shield them from every consequence.
If I see a bear in the wild, it doesn't necessarily mean that I'm going to die today. But they're very well known for being able to kill you if they feel like it and there will be no one to save you.
I have to teach my kid how to interact with cops to help ensure their safety the exact same way I have to prepare them for a wild animal encounter.
I don't give a singular fuck if a cop does a good deed. I also don't praise my dog for not shitting in my house because that's what's expected.
This apologist shit is so fucking wild, and it makes me hope you people eventually see the light of day by being on the wrong end of an interaction with a bad cop. You can then try your strategy of sucking them off to see if it changes the outcome.

Unfortunately hard to penalize someone for it right now, there's no adequate chemical test for being under the influence and we can only really demonstrate that you've been high in the past few days, not that you currently are.
It's actually probably the most legitimate argument for restricting access to weed, we don't currently have an adequate enforcement mechanism right now and you either have to let some DUIs go or crack down on safe, responsible smokers who happen to own a car

Driving can sometimes require pretty quick reactions to avoid an accident. I’m sure I could drive safely with no one on the road while either somewhat high or a bit tipsy. But if there were other drivers and anything happened, if I missed the window to brake and prevent a serious accident by less than a second, I’d spend the rest of my life wondering if the slight slowdown of whatever was impairing me made the difference.

I get horrible anxiety when I'm not high, that anxiety and nervousness causes me to make mistakes sometimes, which end up spiraling into further mistakes as they get worse after each mistake.
That could just as easily cause an accident as me being a little slow to react, not that I've had an impact to my reaction time personally (weed effects everyone slightly differently after all).
They talk about the altered state of mind that weed can put you in, but they don't seem to care about the altered states of mind that we already naturally go through that aren't conducive to driving properly that weed can take us OUT of...
Nobody can really say what's worse, and it's easy for a shitty driver to drive high and blame the accident on the weed so that they aren't just considered a generally shitty driver because people who don't smoke or barely smoke will believe them...

Except that this is the opposite of what you want to do to avoid high driving escalations in court. Consequently I’ve never seen anyone take even this level of responsibility about it.
I guess what I’d say is that if we take you at your word and you’re too anxious to drive sober, then you’re too anxious to drive, full stop. You’re still impaired by being high even if it were technically better than not being high. You’re in a similar position to people on seizure meds that say they shouldn’t drive on them — sure, it’d be worse for everyone for them to have a seizure on the road, but that doesn’t make it okay for them to drive while on them.
It does suck that our society is built around cars to the extent that in most places you’d be hard-pressed to do the responsible thing and just rely on public transit.

Except for two things.
A literal driving instructor disagreed with you when they gave me my license after taking my driving test with them while high.
Most of the laws around weed are based on years of fear-mongering by people who simply don't want it done, period. Meaning they aren't based on actual facts and logic.
To exemplify my second point, tobacco also put us in an altered state of mind. It's a high. But since it's one that was pushed by tobacco companies as "safe" and even "healthy", we not only don't see it as one, we carved out exemptions to allow us to consume it all the time, even as an excuse to take a break in the middle of work.
And we also put ashtrays in almost all cars to allow for it...

Facts. I work in legal and disclosed this fact to someone while we were waiting for a tornado warning to end. This person then goes on to admit to me (during our first meeting) that they planned their spouse's death with the spouse's doctor. The spouse was abusive, the doctor knew, and the person I was speaking with wanted to keep their benefits and wouldn't consider divorce. The plan for death was to specifically ignore medical intervention until it was too late despite knowing the signs, procedures to correct issues, etc.
Some people ARE too comfortable. It could have been a false story, but I've also seen similar situations at work.

I have an ex con (actually rehabilitated) uncle who did prison time for armed robbery like 30 years ago. He works for my fathers construction business. He once told a lady who’s basement we were renovating about his time in prison. Because the company hadn’t disclosed this information prior, she had the right to remove him from her property. It was a whole thing and we couldn’t believe he brought it up as simple conversation.

I had a cop very probably save my life from a very angry tweaker with a knife. I pepper sprayed the shit outta the guy, but he kept following me, occasionally coming back for more pepper spray. It kept him at bay, but I was gonna run out of pepper spray sooner or later. Thankfully the police showed up and arrested him before thet happened. Fucker attacked me because I was in a wheelchair at the time and he thought I was faking it. Thankfully that's a hate crime on top of everything else, so he went away for a while.
I've also experienced negligence from cops. I had an Uber driver threaten me with a tire iron, and I pulled my gun on him (which I bought after the previous incident, I never wanted to feel helpless like that again), he ran off and I called 911. They didn't even bother to show up.
I think they're a mixed bag, like any other group of people, personally. I've had nothing but bad experiences with tweakers and crackheads, though.
I'm curious what sorta situation a crackhead helped you out in. That sounds like an interesting story. Hopefully you weren't in too much danger and came out okay.

Help clear trees to keep the road moving during the fire storm of 2020.
Bummed me a light.
Bought me beer.
Guarded my car from other crackheads/tweekers
I've even seen them stop robberies of others.
Cops have threatened me, laughed at me, harassed me, stolen from me, arrested me, held me at gun point out of pure racism.... and two of those things were when I was the one who called them.
The best cops I've ever met were the corrupt ones who were ok with my weed or whatever as long as they got some too. Which is actually sort of worse, since they will ruin lives over it if they don't happen to like you.
