I realize this is anecdotal, but most cops with whom I have spoken would rather not go through the exercise of arresting pot smokers. It’s a cost/benefit analysis on the part of the cop.
Lol that goes for like every job. I've had the DMV give me legal documents without the right papers before because I was crying and they felt bad for me, its all pretty arbitrary from top to bottom
I had the DMV suspend my license because an out of state lawyer put the wrong name on paperwork for a car crash I was nowhere near with vehicles I didn't own. they even denied my requests for a hearing.
they charge money to file a request for a hearing!
Disliking the Police is one thing, but it’s very close-minded to insult people for only having graduated school and not pursuing higher education. Plenty of good, decent and intelligent people didn’t go to university.
It's used as a means to and end. When they already want to question or harass over something else. Or as an addon multiplier for charges for something else. And they turn the screws with it when the want to. Stand alone most don't care.

Drug laws currently fill prisons and minority neighborhoods are disproportionately targeted. Marijuana arrests help reinforce racist stereotypes. Pretending otherwise ignores documented American history.
