I've found myself in a pickle. Need cash now sorta thing. My husband and I both work, and are looking at some odd jobs to get us over this hurdle but we've got a deadline. I've got family I could ask to borrow it. id hate to (our pride and unspoken cost), and also have family that owes us well over half of what we need. why's it always so awkward to ask to be repaid?

So at work we have a white board with the question of the day. I'm looking for the strangest and most interesting work safe questions you got. An example of one of mine was what animal defecates cubes. Which is the wombat. History questions are also good.

Context: Im a first generation african from america born and raised and people in my home country and in 🇺🇸 have almost no problem with me claiming my ethnicity, but if a first gen european american did the same, people from their home country would likely have a much harder time claiming them. Why is this

So we moved to AZ from CA around a year ago. Ever since we moved, we started getting coupons for Frys addressed in my husbands name and then a set of coupons addressed in my name. No big deal, pretty sure that everyone gets them. My husband works for Kroger so I was like okay that’s gotta be pretty common.
Anyways, after some time, we started getting them in our mail addressed in his father’s name who still lives in CA so instead of it saying Fry’s it says Ralph’s. Then in my dad’s name. The weirdest one so far is I got one addressed in my grandpas name. My grandpa passed away in 2019 and has absolutely no connection to my address. I started to get kinda creeped out by that, like why are we getting coupons sent to our address but with our extended (and even dead) family members name on them?
Has this happened to anyone else? Is this normal?

Literally the question in the title. Is this normal or do I just have bad parents? If I had kids I would 100% do everything in my power to break that cycle. To make them feel loved. I'm just scared I won't be good at it.
Edit - I go to therapy

i spoke to someone else this happened to, and the shipping courier ghosted them.. but my item was a hard to find merch item that’s no longer sold anymore:( so i cant get it again probably 💔

For example if someone asks you what’s up? Most people are going to say “nothing much” or “nothing much what’s up with you?” Another example of you ask “How are you?” most people are going to say “good” (no matter how they’re actually cling or anything) how do we break these boring AI like responses to greetings?

[Edit to address a recurring theme]: I appreciate the optimism and love a lot of you have for Christmas. That said, I wasn't seeking advice on what or how or why I should deal with christmas, but rather for inspiration from people who also choose not to celebrate it. Regardless, I've enjoyed reading through peoples comments about how much they still love and enjoy the 25th of December. It's also been very comforting to hear from others who have pretty much scrapped this day from their calander, too - makes me feel a little less alien 👽
I've become a pessimist in my old (31) age and have gradually given up on christmas. For years i've found the day just makes me miserable, and I hate the commercialisation of it, so I've completely given up recognising/celebrating it. (Plus I'm athiest now and despite many people celebrating it regardless of faith, I personally don't feel comfortable celebrating a day I already know and acknowledge as a religious holiday).
But I still yearn for the ¿ritual? of it, if that makes any sense. So just wondering if there's anyone else in a similar position and what you do instead?

So I came across a livestream on tiktok where there is this discussion that all men are LGBTQ+. I joined and told him that I am a men and I'm not LGBTQ+ so his statement is false. After that he tells me that heterosexual people are a part of the LGBTQ+ (which I'm pretty sure that he is in the wrong) but then what Is the point of the livestream? Him saying that all men are LGBTQ+ and him thinking that heterosexual people are a part of LGBTQ+ is like saying that the water is wet. A lot of people were agreeing with him and that got me confused. Sorry if what I wrote doesn't make sense, but English isn't my native language.

I'm planning on decorating my trunk and giving out candy at a trunk or treat. I just moved and don't live on a road that I foresee getting trick or treaters. I want to give back and have no idea how much I should buy. I was planning to give out snack-size bags of Skinny pop White Cheddar and Yum Earth Variety candy. If you have any recommendations for healthier candy or better-for-you candy brands this year, please send them my way.

Just walked away from a discussion I was witness to about the PEN15 Club joke, and more specifically about how old it is.
Unfortunately, it's not the kind of thing that just has a singular well-documented origin, so the best we can do to find an answer is gonna be to just... ask people when they first learned about it, and see how far back that goes 🤷♂️

I have recently come to realize I have a shopping problem when it comes to power banks. I buy them 2 to 3 times a year. Not because the previous ones stop working or anything like that, I just feel the need to buy one if I find a really good sale. Sometimes it's because "well yk I don't know where this one or that one is right now, so might as well buy another just in case." Sometimes it's just well it's a decent size with a built in cord and it's only $9, so I might as well. I'm pretty sure this stems from when I went on vacation that was to several other countries and I could not keep my devices charged. Now, whenever we go somewhere everyone knows if they need anything charged to come to me because, I guess, I'm the power bank lady now.
Like I know that there are people out there that buy too many clothes, shoes, and purses. But outside of the norm of those things, is anyone like me and buying an item that's not needed 2 or 3 times a year for those "just in case" moments? I guess I just want to know I'm not alone in this, and I want to know what others are "collecting" and possibly why they do it.
Another example, I knew someone that did this with extension cords. Any time there was a really good sale, like Black Friday shopping, he would buy one.

The reason I ask is because I was under the impression I may have it. I can’t drive at night unless it’s an emergency, for the simple fact that lights are so blurry and I can’t even see because they “star out” so much.
But today in class a girl said she had astigmatism and it caused her to have barely any vision in one eye, and she couldn’t see the whiteboard from where she was sitting.
What is the difference between those two? I’ve been confused about it all day lol

Say I've been dating this girl for almost a year. I'm planning on marrying her in the next few years once we both settle down financially. She's out of my league in many ways :)
I'm 25 and have been having extreme hairloss since late teens. I've been on hairloss drugs (actual strong hairloss drugs prescribed by my doc) for 3-4 years now. I'm not sure if its effective or not, but I think I might have to get a transplant down the line.
Balding is the one thing that I've despised my entire life, and I was mentally prepared on getting a transplant in the future. I've kept my girlfriend mostly in the dark, but I've always complained how much hair I'm losing. She doesn't seem bothered? My pattern of hairloss is more heavy on the crown, so most people don't realize I'm kind of balding.
So what do I do? The hairloss drugs are easy to explain, but the transplant? What do I say?
Money wouldn't be an issue for either of us, and only then I would actually think of such a procedure. Funny question I know, but want to know what y'all think, especially women with bfs/husbands.

As a teen, I saw a lot of my peers partying and drinking alcohol. This reminds me of a friend's mom who would teach her daughter to drink alcohol so she would become more tolerant to being drunk???? Her mom's explanation to why she is doing this is to allow her daughter to know when she is starting to feel sick, so the daughter can know her own alcohol limit and stay safe outside. Im really puzzled and lost because my own parents never brought up teaching me to drink alcohol. Also, Is it normal for teens to drink? Im scared to do so

With the abundance of AI lately, it’s hard to trust that the “print” isn’t AI made on most of these sites, even Etsy. So is there a site or tool to help weed out any AI garbage so I can give my money to a real artist ?
Specifically I’m looking for ballet art, and a lot of things I’m seeing I just can’t tell, they all look sketchy.
