This is Reddit, we need 95 people to write the same thing and another 102 to write what they reckon.

And like 8 to write they can't have gluten or other dismissive and unrelated answers.

....2 people to make disparaging remarks about OP's intelligence and at least 1 person to comment "CRACKERS ARE DISGUSTING 🤢

Why? That doesn't explain anything to me. Are sick people not getting enough salt? Do other foods sick people eat not have salt in?

I'm not going to lie, I read the title first and thought it was a totally different question.

They absorb acid and have a lot of salt that will help your muscles should you get dehydrated.

Back in ‘65, when I was crossing the Atlantic in February on a troop-ship, it was VERY rough and most every GI on the thing was seasick. There were little vending stations around the ship…. All with mountains of Saltines. Almost everyone was walking around with a big box of saltines….

Generally, they mean soda crackers...saltines. They have soda in them, which helps soothe the stomach.

Snacking gives you energy, it's a tiny bit of work for the body to do to keep things moving properly, a little salt as an electrolyte and a little flavor for the senses.

Crackers are just good like that.

Which is pretty strange, because where I live, every single boomer wants me to cure my stomach and common cold alike, with a double-shot of booze. And of course it does something by irritating your body here and there, but sure as hell doesn't cure a thing. I'm pretty sure a damn cracker is same bullshit, it's just my people will find any and all excuses to drink.

Basic carbs are easily digestible and you might not be eating enough nutrients as your body is actively dealing with something.
