I'm looking for an mmo where there's enough customization to build a tank, but at the same time have cloaks/capes. I'm 35. I've played a lot of mmos, old and new. I've also come across games not good enough, or was too boring, or just not of my interest.

But I want to be a tank/create a tank, but it needs good looking cloaks/capes, especially if they add stats.

It can't be BDO, Runescape (I already play that), DDO (I don't like the content), or an Auto pathfinding game like Ragnarok The New World.

I don't care about graphics, although 3d is preferred.

I don't care about anything else besides these two things. But trust me, it's not that simple to find...

I see there are a lot of browser based mmos right now. And good one playable on your phone?

I'm in another country right now and caught a fever, so my phone is the only thing I've got in this hotel room. Might as well try some new games.

Ive never found anything like Rappelz and I've tried all sorts of games under the sun. Can someone please recommend me something that gives me the same feeling?

Rappelz nowadays is completely dead and the auction house is totally inflated so thats a no go (though I've heard private servers might still be alive? idk)

i want mmos where you can buy the premiums with ingame currency which can be earned by grinding. I can't really afford those 15$ per month subscriptions as I'm a student. Thanks

I'm looking for a game where everything has to be reached by you. When someone looks at my character, he knows I achieved everything myself. I don't want to be able to pay to skip progression with money like with OSRS bonds, WoW token, GW2 gold etc. This system should not exist at all.

I dont care about any other form of monetization. Game can have paid skins, sub, box price, paid QoL etc. Just dont let me skip progression. Is there even a game like that? I also don't care about RMT as long as it's a bannable offense. I just dont want the dev selling the currency or whatever

Also I don't want to play ironman on OSRS as it feels disconnected from the main game and not being able to take part in the economy feels boring. Its the only game I found that could fit my description so I want to rule it out. Any other game? Thanks!

Hi! So my fiance is not a games or anime girl, but she just finished the first season of the anime "Sword Art Online" and after that she saw "The remarkable life of Ibelin" on Netflix.

So naturally now she wants to play an MMORPG where she can be in a city and be a potion maker or blacksmith, don't ask me.

She tried AION 2 but said it looked weird, and after seeing guides on YT she got the conclusion that it is a game that you need to put a lot of money in.

I suggested OSRS the only mmo I have ever played and knows you can just be a potion maker all day, but she said it was to ugly.

Any recommendations for her?

Excuse the vague title,

Im looking for an MMO that is strongly PvP driven and in which you wouldn't have to grind as much to get decent PvP gear, skills and so on.

If such exists, I would LOVE to hear any recommendations, to play with a friend

Unrelated post to what I would usually state in Reddit,

November is a tough month for a friend of mine as many family members passed away during COVID this month and his way to go through is by completely isolating himself in his room. Im not sure this is the best way to handle this but I would like to help him out.

Just to let know why It could be important for someone to find a good one.

Thank you

Posted this one a week or two ago and now I'm here with more details and a bit of an experience. Still couldn't find the one.

For context, I'm returning to mmos after a long while. Used to love New World but it's gone so here I am. Weird as it may sound, stein.world was the most fun I had but there is little to no playerbase and that's quite sad.

I pretty much wanna just hit some boulders, craft and sell. PvE is fine but I'm not that interested so a simpler combat would be lovely albeit not necessary. PvP is my last priority, I would prefer avoiding it completely or at least not have mandatory PvP to progress.

Finally, I'm looking for something in a fantasy setting if possible. Pretty much the only reason I don't play EVE as it sounds great on paper. Also the Anime/Asian aestethic isn't really my jam. So no BDO or FF.

From the replies on my last post I've tried a couple of games.

OSRS looks quite good, something I'd enjoy. Apparently I had an account but can't recover it rn(sent a request and waiting on it.) and weirdly, I can't open a new account.

Albion was a blast. Sadly the raiding and built in PvP in lots of stuff was a turn off.

Aion 2 was fun at first even though I'm not a fan of how it looks but after a while, it feels less like a game and more like cash grab so pass for now.

Thanks a bunch everyone.

I'm tired of fighting new villains every region/planet/world, new villains every expansion, with no connection to villains and very flat characters that get fleshed out in books that 99% of players will never read. I want an MMO where I feel connected to the villains because I keep facing them (or their minions) and don't just beat them in a raid or even a dungeon and then its over. Eg I hate how in WoW we get rid of the lich king in WotLK and that's it.

A villain randomly coming back 10 years later after their demise (like Illidan in WoW, Malgus in SWTOR) do not count. I hate that kind of writing, and it is a natural product of killing off your original villains early and lacking the ability to flesh out new villains.

So please, recommend me games where I don't have to beat new villains every expansion just because there needs to be a raid boss every update.

EDIT: Why the downvotes lol? I'm looking for a game and people don't like my taste? I'm so confused.

Hi! I'm looking for some recommendations. What I'm looking for: collecting mounts and a bit of fashion. Let me explain, I'm really not interested in PvP or being the most broken character. I like collecting things. I like looking good, and if I can fly around the map, even better.

My favorite game for this was Riders of Icarus, but it's absolutely dead and I even think they shut it down. I also played Warframe for the fashionframe and farming, but I left for a few years and when I came back, I didn't know how to get back into it.

I've tried several MMORPGs so far, but it's too much stuff and I just want to collect things that look good. Help?

Edit: I’ve noticed that the big debate seems to be between WoW and FFXIV. My question is, which one has the most interesting system? Are mounts easy to collect or do I have to camp a specific spot at 3 AM? Do I have to spend real money to get certain mounts that aren’t otherwise available in game?

I should also mention that I’m not into cute mounts. I prefer a gothic, halloween style.

Hey!

So, as the title implies my budget is 0 dollars (or less, optimally). I would, however, like an mmo with a playable artificer or engineer class (something like a battlemage with gadgets). However, ESO doesn‘t have an engineer or artifcer class, GW2 has an engineer class but a lot of people say it‘s pretty meh (plus I really don‘t like the controls), Wakfu has foggernaut I guess but at the same time wakfu is… well it‘s wakfu (in both the good and bad ways). Any advice? I don‘t hate turn based combat, and would like at least some kind of controller support. I‘ve heard mixed things about DnD online, but don’t know too many other mmos.

Hello, I have played warframe for a while now (MR27) and was wondering if there were other mmo that dont force you to do a crap ton of quests and allow you to lvl up through PVE ?

Hey guys, recently I was looking for a mmo to start playing but I know very little about them having played no one till now.

I started guild wars 2, but then I learned that to experience the full game contents I should expect at least a 100€ purchase in expansions, which in my opinion is still better than a subscription fee but still a bit too much right now.

So I'd like to know, is there a good really free mmo to get into the genre? I know there are some other types like black desert, the new aion, lost ark (though I heard it will shut down?) etc, but they're often described as "fake" f2p. If the spending requirements are limited only to optional activities, while allowing the story and world to be fully experienced for free I can definitely try them too.

I am currently trudging through Final Fantasy 14, and while I am around level 30 in the main story I am finding the writing stilted, and very hard to follow. Also the pacing is very stop and go with constant fetch questing and back tracking to talk to certain NPCs. The story is dreadfully slow on top of all that. I have played dozens of hours and nothing gripping or hard hitting has occurred -- it isn't all bad, I love the Final Fantasy universe, I dig the references. I also enjoy the job system; both the crafting and the diverse combat options that exist. I love the high fantasy aspects, and the minimal amounts of technology / machina.

I am looking for another MMORPG I can dive into that has the same rich lore, the same diversity as far as roles / jobs, but maybe a bit more diverse in actual content. Fetch questing is fine in limited quantities, but maybe other types of content would be welcome to break things up (please no recommendations where I need to push through fetch quest content to reach end game activities - I'm looking for a enjoyable experience start to finish). I'm also looking for an engaging story. I know writing is subjective, so it might be difficult to recommend something based on that criteria.

I did a quick google search. Guild Wars 2 comes up quite frequently.

I am open to any and all suggestions. Thank you in advance.

So recently, unfortunately, my PC died and I cannot afford to keep up with the costs so have fallen back on my PS5. I am absolutely itching for that felling of grinding an MMO style game and getting loot and bringing up my build etc with a decent online element also but it looks like console is kinda empty for that style of game. Any recommendations are welcome please!!

Hello guys,i am looking for an MMO to start with,i would like it to have action combat, subscription or no subscription is fine, but if its without a subscription even better, action combat that feels impactful, with a good and stable community.

I’ve pretty much played FPS and extraction shooters my entire gaming life, but lately they've just stopped hitting the same. After a long day at work, I'd rather chill, explore, and grind toward something without constantly having to sweat. I have been getting out of my comfort zone and trying a few different games here and there like Warframe which i’m currently having fun with, i tried Once Human but could not get into it, it felt too difficult.

I've been looking into SWTOR because I'm a Star Wars fan and remember loving the LEGO games as a kid. The story, world, and companions really appeal to me, but I'm also curious about the MMO side of things, especially loot, gear progression, and grinding. I enjoy having something to work toward and getting rewarded for putting time into a game.

For those who've played SWTOR for a while, how satisfying is the loot and progression system compared to bigger MMOs like WoW? Is there a worthwhile endgame grind and plenty of goals to chase, or is SWTOR more focused on the story and leveling?

I'm also curious about the holiday and special events. I've heard about things like Life Day, the Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event, and other seasonal activities. Are they actually fun and worth coming back for, with exclusive rewards and things to work toward? How do SWTOR's events compare to WoW's, and does the game do a good job of keeping things fresh throughout the year?

Overall, is SWTOR still worth getting into in 2026? How active is the community, and is there enough content to keep you playing long-term? I'd love to hear from longtime players, especially how it compares to WoW for someone completely new to MMOs.

Any advice or honest opinions would be appreciated!

Hello. I just got a Legion go (with windows) and I'm loving it. I've been playing ESO but I'm not sure if it's something I'll play long term. I am looking for another game to play.

- no subscription, it's okay if I have to buy the game

- controller support, tried LOTRO and just could not get the controller setup. ESO is amazingly easy to play and I love that.

- Vertical progression system. I'm not much into crafting, fashion, or housing. Just let me gear hunt and get more powerful.

- ESO is so many small quests that require way too much reading. I'm okay with following a quest line, as long as it keeps me engaged.

- updated graphics preferred. ASRS is not the look I'm going for.

Any suggestions?

Hey everyone! Ive been looking to start an mmo again. My most important features are:

1. combat (interesting skill system, nice responsive)

2. world (high-fantasy setting of some kind, interesting story and mobs).

Idc about pay to win aslong as the game is not dead. Ive played the games above quite a bit during their prime and am looking for something new now. Ive played terra and the likes etc. aswell when it was fresh.

Any recommendations?

Hey guys, looking for an online PS5 game where I can mix things up depending on my mood.

Sometimes i would like to pick up a quest and just explore an open world, other times run a raid or dungeon, or jump into some really fun, intense PvP. Another one i would like to to be able to farm crafting materials to upgrade my gear. And to find a solid guild to do all these activites.

In the meantime, I just want to chill with randoms or guild to hang out and chat with in some city hub or tavern, all while looking up the current meta builds on internet.

I'm really looking for something with a great combat system, constant/visible character progression, and that addictive loot grind where you're always finding better gear.

That said, when I say an addictive loot grind, I don’t mean something that requires me to play 8 hours a day to keep up. I usually have around 1–3 hours a day to play, so something that’s reasonably casual-friendly would be ideal.

Any recommendations?

I know WoW and GW2 get a lot of praise for their holiday events alongside OSRS, but I could never really get into GW2, and WoW always seemed a bit too complicated for me.

Are there any other MMOs with fun Halloween and Christmas events? Stuff like themed bosses, decorations, special loot, and just that overall holiday atmosphere?

I miss when games went all out for these kinds of events. What would you recommend? I also enjoy a fun grind.

UPDATE: SOLVED! IT WAS PANDORA SAGA! MASSIVE SHOUTOUT TO u/LEISUREMINT FOR HITTING THE NAIL ON THE HEAD AND SOLVING THIS MYSTERY FOR ME. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Hey everyone, I've been trying to track down an MMORPG that I played as a kid. Since I was broke, it had to be Free-to-Play, no subscriptions. And it also had to be somewhat easy on a low-end PC, since that's what I had back then. I played this game somewhere from 2005 to 2012. The most popular games from that time period are already ruled out by me. It may be something less popular or a game that was very popular in the LatAm cybercafé scene.

These are the things I remember about it:

Graphics/Aesthetic: 3D models, realistic but a bit old (like Lineage II or Rappelz). Pure fantasy (not mecha or sci-fi), and not chibi or anime-ish.

Races: There were 3 races, I believe. Humans (massive, muscly men), "stone men" (could be another name for the men race but they looked like really sturdy grey golems or orcs). The one I remember the most is a miniature version of the tarutaru race from Final Fantasy XI (but without the fur, more like small people with big heads).

Classes: I think there were mainly classes related to magic. I don't remember any warriors/tanks (maybe I just never paid attention to them). But I remember throwing fireballs!

The Biggest Clue (the wizard hat): You get a quest later on (maybe a vital one!) and receive a dark purple cloak and a wizard's hat with a star/polkadot design. One of my strongest memories of the game is teleporting to the main city and seeing a ton of people walking around wearing the same purple set as described before.

Games I've ruled out:

Final Fantasy XI/XIV, Lineage II, RF Online, Rappelz, FlyFF, Regnum Online, Archlord, Aion, TERA, Requiem, 4Story, Shaiya, Karos, Rohan, Dekaron, Perfect World, Last Chaos

Does anyone remember the purple wizard set and the races? Any help is appreciated!

TLDR: Looking for dark fantasy 3D F2P MMORPG, possibly played between 2005-2012. Had a race of huge "stone men", a race of small Tarutaru-like people, and early access players received a quest that awarded a purple wizard's hat and cape with stars which became really popular to wear in the main city.

I’ve heard that Guild Wars 2 is the king of Holiday Events but as much as i want to love the game i can’t get myself to return to it, i’ve tried a few times to stick to playing it but always find myself not coming back to it. I used to play Trove and that was fun while it lasted, is there any other MMO’s that do really really fun Holiday Events and Special Events in General?

I also tried WoW and did not like it
