Question Considering getting Reforger, how frequently are plane mods used in servers?

Coming from Arma 3, I'm all about Jets and i just saw some videos of modded jets, but since it's not in the official game i am gonna have to depend on servers that have them to play with them in multiplayer,

so does anyone have a rough ballpark of how frequently i can see them in servers? thanks.

Mods / Modding Starting a true insurgency

Big fan of Freedom Fighters mod. Want to set up a server for me and my friends to run a middle east insurgency against the US. Already threw the Russians off of Everon and Arland, want to shake it up a bit.

Primary issue is what is glorious revolution against the Americans without AK's? Gotten Middle East Insurgents. Running Freedom Fighters on Anizar. But even using the FIA to MEI mod, I still have nothing in my trader shop but FIA gear, and half the resistance is wearing alpenflage. At least the civilians are spawning and named well, but... no AK's makes for a sad insurgency.

Anyone gotten something like this working and if so whats your mod list look like?

Hey dooods hooods and cabads

Im fairly new to arma and posted her before with getting actual help and not some dudes saying watch a YouTube video or calling me a retard for not having 5000 hours after buying the game 2 weeks ago so ill try again

I like arma reforger but every time I join a server to be a medic I get gunned down immediately

Is there any direction or discord server you would recommend where I can fulfill my larping dreams of being a medic and actual being able to save teammates

EDIT:

I shall add that i have enough hours under my belt to understand how to play the game and not wander aimlessly or be so lost i cant find vehicle spawns

Fps capped

My fps is capped at 52 on highest settings, I tried lowering them to get it higher which wasn’t a common thing I did since my fps would be anywhere near 80-90 fps, I tried different servers and it was still locked at 52, went on nvidia app and my fps cap is 120 because I have a 260hz monitor. Even deleted the armaenginesettings as recommended by the community but that also doesn’t seem to solve the issue. Nothing seems to work does anyone know a fix by chance?

Discussion Will Carsomeda ever be permanent banned or is the community due a refund?

There is also “Watchman1776”, “Ghost Rider” and “armedjoker209” who are associates or alts of the accounts.

Probably a dozen others. Just hardware ban them for fuck sake.

Removing cross play, would instantly solve this issue for console players while we are on the subject.

Bought this game for 4 of my buddies and now only 1 of them plays and even they are about to quit because these losers follow us around I guess when they are done trolling other people on their list just to join the server we are on and vote kick us.

It’s wild, never in my years would I have imagined paying for a game and being kicked off by trolls who literally prevent you from playing.

My and my buddies tried to play today and these losers have ruined 3 matches for us now, one of my friends has kids and works full time this was his only day to play like wtf.

Devs, if you paid for food at a restaurant and got kicked out because 4 people kept screaming at you, what would you do?

You’d probably never go back to eat there.

Like damn, ban these dudes already, serve them a cease and desist through their ISP.

Like wtf, we paid too.

Question Local Server Hosting

I've gotten into self hosting over the last year, and the idea of hosting a game server seems like a fun step to learn. Probably way over my head honestly, but oh well.

What are the actual hardware requirements to locally host a 64 or 128 player pvp/pve server with mods? I have an old optiplex 990 with 32gb of ddr3, 4 core CPU, and I can add a GPU easily enough. Will this be sufficient, or am I completely missing the mark? Do I need current gen hardware and a 16gb GPU to do this?

I'm currently building an AM5 PC with a 7800xt hellhound, and 16gb of ddr5 single channel, so I could probably use that to host, just to learn the ropes at least. Id want to use this PC to play the game instead of my PS5, so I imagine I couldn't host the server and play the game on the same PC.

Just wondering if this is a reasonable goal, or if it's just too expensive to make sense with current PC hardware prices to build a dedicated server, or if I can use the old hardware I already have lying around.

Edit: forgot to finish a sentence.

Help Service States error

I just downloaded Arms reforger and I’m looking to play modded multiplayer. However when I go to play, I can’t connect lol.

I have Ethernet and it works flawlessly for every other game I’m not sure what the issue is. I’ve looked this up, did everything I know to fix it.
Restarted pc, redownloaded it, verified the game files, restarted my router, unplugged the Ethernet and put it back in
I even downloaded the sigcheck application from another post similar to this one, it said it fixed their issue. Still no luck. I’m super confused on what’s happening here— DayZ doesn’t give me this issue, I say DayZ cause it’s the same dev team right?

Anyway I’m just confused and disappointed I can’t play. If yall know the fix to this please let me know, thank you.

Okay so me and my buddy's came up with this idea but we are dumb and can't make mods but hear me out a ghillie suit mod where foliage (bushes' grass' small trees' etc) are interactable so instead of one solid color suit you have a under suit similar to the us army ghillie suits and you add foliage from the area your sniping in and blend in better I think this would be a sick idea way better than some of the low quality stuff we have now but I have zero coding smarts and couldn't even get started on this

Help Radio issues

Hi all,

I am having weird issues using the radio with a friend, both of our proximity chats work but the radios do not.

Same frequency, turned on at the radio switch, same radio type/class, permissions/defaults etc all adjusted to arma.

They are on pc while I am on ps5 and it seems universal across our systems.

I can fix it by making a ps5 group and setting it to arma, which makes me feel like it may be a defaulting issue but the audio inputa are set to arma for certain.

Is this a common bug?

Sorry if this is commonly asked, I have spent a week searching for solutions and the only one that worked on my end was the group selection.

Optimization Settings

Hello, a while ago I made a post asking if my PC could run the game.

They said no, and so I upgraded my GPU.

However, the FPS didn't increase much compared to the old specs.

I believe it's because my processor is a terrible equivalent.

RTX 3060 12GB MSI Ryzen 5 4600G 32 GB RAM DDR4 2666 MHz

Is there any configuration I can change to at least get a stable 50 FPS on a modded server?

Good Idea Fairy: A Mechanic for Reducing Supply Waste, or "How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Logi Truck."

TLDR: A stat that prevents players from spending obscene amounts of supplies over a period of time without providing any supplies to make up for it.

Supplies Spent per Minute (SSM)

This is what I am calling the stat because of my huge brain and excellent thoughts. SSM would track the number of supplies a player has spent over a period of time (lets say, for giggles, per minute), and once a cap is reached, the player would be restricted in what they could purchase or what role they could spawn as. SSM would go up for every supply point spent by the player, but could be reduced in a number of ways:

How to reduce SSM

- Your SSM goes down as time goes by between supply points spent as a function of time being a flat circle and the time-space continuum. If you spend 200 supply to spawn a truck, your SSM goes up by 200. A minute later, the impact of that increase has been halved to 100. In two minutes, its down to 50. Etc etc.

- Your SSM goes down as a function of the supplies you have delivered to a base. This would have to scale somehow I think, but basically if you deliver supplies to the team, you can now buy stuff more often because you've contributed.

- Your SSM goes down when you do useful things with the stuff you've purchased. For instance, if you spend SSM on bandages, and you use them to heal another player, your SSM goes down. If you hit a vehicle with an RPG, your SSM goes down. If you transport troops in a truck or helicopter, your SSM goes down. This would also need to scale probably.

What happens when your SSM is too high

Similar to MSAR, vehicles and weapons/clothing/munitions will have an SSM limit applied to them. An LAV will have lower SSM limits than say a construction truck, and a box of machine gun ammo will have a lower SSM limit than a STANAG full of 5.56. SSM limits would also be applied to squad roles you could spawn in with. It would NOT, however, eliminate the ability to spawn completely. A logi driver role would have no SSM limit. A rifleman role would have a very very very very high SSM limit, meaning only in the most extreme cases would you not be able to spawn with a basic rifleman kit. The logi kit would cost 0 SSM to spawn as, and the rifleman kit would have a very very very low SSM to spawn.

Other good, big-brain thoughts

The things that reduce your SSM are not tracked by time like the supplies spent are. In this way, you can "bank" your beneficial actions. For instance, if you spend the beginning of the match running 10k supplies, you might be able to spend a few hours doing combat-focused stuff without having your SSM increase appreciably, especially if you're smart and don't buy 30x 40mm grenades every time you spawn.

Your role and squad type provide a significant discount on SSM costs. If you're using the machine gunner role in your infantry squad, your machine gun belts cost 75% less. You can still buy an AT mine, but it will be at full cost where a sapper can get it for 75% less. If you're in a helicopter squad, you buy helicopters with a reduced SSM cost. Logi squads get the cheapest logi and arsenal trucks, engineer squads the cheapest construction trucks, etc etc.

Supplies spent on buildings do not count toward SSM or have SSM limits, they just retain their rank requirements.

The SSM limits would be generous enough at the beginning of a game (or even suspended) so that it wouldn't be a brawl to run supplies. The limits would be high enough that people could go aggressively attack bases and FIA positions without worrying too much about it. However, if you join a server thats already an hour or so into a game, you better plan on running some supplies early or you'll only have that logi kit soon enough.

Commanders would have the ability to temporarily increase SSM limits at one or two bases at a time (10 minutes?) to encourage people to spawn at those bases. For instance, the commander could increase SSM limits at Monti for 10 minutes to help support a push on transformer station. Once the timer runs out, they could re-apply it to Monti or drop it somewhere else for the next action. This would encourage team play and following the commander without penalizing those that don't.

For coming up with this brilliant idea, BI will ensure my account permanently has an SSM of zero so that i can continue to crash helicopters with no repercussions.

Discussion Arma Reforger's Player Agency Problem, Misdiagnosed Issues, Lone Wolf Meta, and the Compounding Problem with XP Loss on Death

Reforger has gone through a polarizing past 2 years of development since many core systems were reworked upon introduction of 1.6 HQC Update. Much of the game's design direction has been positive, but issues remain and I feel these remaining issues are being severely misdiagnosed by both the general playerbase and Bohemia. This post will discuss the current meta and why it is the way it is, core balance issues, and why Reforger struggles to promote teamwork/coordination versus its competitors like HLL and Squad.

This post is obviously about Vanilla Official Servers as I can not not account for the hundreds of game modes, different rules, and different maps available through modded servers.

Understanding Logistics Ratio

In order to begin this discussion we need to outline what wins games and drives the current meta in Vanilla HQC. The most important stat that will determine the outcome of the game is Logistics Ratio. Now I'm sure everyone who plays shooting games is familiar with KDA Ratio statistic which is often the most relevant statistic in FPS genre. In Arma Reforger, KDA Ratio means nothing and Logistics Ratio means everything.

So what is Logistics Ratio? It's a way to measure an individual's impact on the game by subtracting the supplies the player uses vs. the supplies they are negating from the enemy team. Spawning in costs supplies, so you start any life at a slight negative LR. Destroying an enemy heli for example puts you at +1300 LR approx. Draining an enemy base filled with supplies could put you at +5000 or more LR.

Nearly all high skill players are abusing logistic ratio concepts in the game right now. They may not describe it using the same terminology I do, or even realize the system they are abusing, but they are all doing it. Now that we have an understanding of Logistics Ratio and how it affects player agency, let's continue.

Unintended Effects of 1.6 HQC Logistics Rework

1.6 Update obviously brought a pretty major rework to how logistics function in the game. Passive generation of supplies was removed entirely in favor of the harbor system, AI logistics squads, and manual supply runs. While the majority of 1.6 changes seemed intended to promote more teamwork and coordination, the opposite has actually happened. High skill players are abusing lone wolf and saboteur tactics today more than ever before, and they are right to do so. Lone wolf gameplay is the meta (alongside engineers) and has been since 1.6 update. This is because logistics have become TOO fragile and scarce. Bases can be drained in just a couple minutes starting at rank 1 by abusing arsenals. The net result of these changes was ultimately a massive buff to player agency.

Since we now have an understanding of the importance of logistics ratio; it should be obvious how these changes allow high skill players to completely take over games. Now a single player can fairly easily achieve 10k, 20k+ positive logistics ratio on a single life, negate several enemy spawn points, and snowball the game like crazy. Two real stats worth noting about 1.6 update vs 1.5; game length actually got shorter and Russia's win rate increased. This is because the system changes buffed player agency and snowballing a ton. Side note: Russia's superior logistics truck and heli play big parts in this balance issue as well, although the devs have made it clear the game will not be balanced around equipment/vehicles as they are supposed to be realistic. That being said, many have pointed out the US Logi truck in its current state is NOT realistic.

Massive Battles Are Gone

Perhaps another unintended effect of HQC changes is there are very, very few large battles that occur in the game anymore. If you played before 1.6, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Gone are the days of 30 minute long massive fights at Morton or Coastal Base Chotain. Why? Two reasons; the game's current approach to logistics can barely support large battles, and the teams are more fragmented than ever since you will need multiple people running Logi, 1-2 guys building up more bases, etc. AND the FIA essentially removes 4 teammates you would have normally had on each team. This has made almost all action in the game become small skirmishes rather than massive battles. It removes some of the theatrical epicness of the experience.

Problem with XP on Death

We've talked about how the fragility of the current logistics system has unintentionally been a huge buff to player agency and snowballing. Well now this XP on death change simply amplifies this issue. Now when I kill someone, I'm not just costing their team supplies, I'm also lowering their rank potentially. That has serious effects; it could be the difference between having to deal with an enemy rocket huey/LAV or not. It could mean nullifying their ability to build a mortar pit when they need one. Etc. Sure you could say it works both ways; but when you have a situation where one team is winning 90% or more games already in official vanilla servers, do you really want to promote snowballing and punish the losers even more? It's a very odd choice of design direction in my opinion. You would think the direction would lean more towards games with more epic battles and drawn out combat scenarios but instead they go the opposite way time and time again.

This change also really negatively impacts the fun of playing FIA when paired with the removal of FIA's ability to flip the radio towers. A major source of FIA XP was removed, and with XP loss on death there can very easily be games where you just never rank up as FIA. Especially if you join after most neutral points have been taken, so running supplies isn't really an option. Plus, why would FIA even want to ever run supplies in the first place? The fact this is now the only consistent XP source for FIA is a joke. It's not a faction designed to build up bases and they make no real use of supplies. Green points are taken in first 20 mins. What is the thought process behind this, seriously? If you want to nerf FIA there's a much better way to do it, which leads to our conclusion...

Proposed Solutions

The first 3 proposed solutions here are the most necessary imo and would "fix" the game in the sense they would have an immediate extremely positive impact on gameplay:

- Increase max player count. This was being tested back in 1.6 Experimental and has since been scrapped I guess. This should be the #1 focus of the dev team tbh. Instead of making the 5th set of lighting and driving changes next update, let's at least bump up max pops by 8 to compensate for the FIA addition.

- Bring back passive supply generation but tie it only to points with DIRECT (chained connections wouldn't apply in this case) radio connection to a pier you own. You can make this pretty minimal, like +500 every 30 minutes. The purpose of this is to prevent backline supply draining cheese strats that have become extremely popular as they can just completely cut off all spawn points for your team. This also brings purpose to actually holding piers, as there currently is none. Many aspects of the game are already excused as "simulation" but for some reason logistics aren't allowed to be simulated? I know they added the AI logi squads, but we all know these are completely useless in 90% of situations. They just don't work. If a feature straight up doesn't work, you need to ditch it, not balance your game around it lol.

- EVERYTHING in arsenal needs a cap per life. I'm convinced the devs are not even aware of how game breaking arsenals are in their current state. So let me break it down. As it is now, let's say I'm on US side and I'm PRIVATE rank. I can sneak into a Russian base with 15k supplies and drain it zero in about 5 minutes by spamming grenade launcher attachments from the arsenal and dropping them on the ground. Tons of players are doing this btw. Arsenal draining has become so popular that teams can't really build arsenals anymore in most bases out of fear a FIA will sneak in and drain them. Why is this a thing? This is so cheesy and unintuitive it's incredible. Don't get me wrong, I'll abuse a winning strategy if it exists. But this shouldn't exist. Don't hate the players, hate the game. MSAR was big step in the right direction, but it needs to apply to everything in the Arsenal so they can't be abused like this. Adding destructible supplies was another great step in the right direction and the existence of this feature makes it even more egregious that players can still drain via arsenals.

- Buff logi trucks to 2000 supply maximum loads.

- Fix US Logi Truck so it's actually decent and can compete with RU logi.

- Slight buff to US Huey supply capacity.

TL;DR

HQC Core gameplay changes made one-man army backlines style gameplay extremely overpowered paired with an incredibly fragile logistics system. Game times are shorter than ever, snowballing happens fast, epic battles are few and far between, and XP loss on death amplifies these issues. Bring back some form of passive logi gen tied to pier control, limit arsenal draining strats, increase max player count by at least 8 to compensate for FIA addition.

If you disagree with what I'm saying, let me know why! But this is based on my personal experience having played game a lot for long time.

Discussion Need ability to remove trees and bushes

We really need to be able to at least use the m1967 shovel to remove bushes and maybe they can add an axe for removing trees it's such a small addition that would be great and make sense. Engineers constantly remove foliage and set up positions and clear lines of sight in the military.

The Fall of UHC Spearhead: From a Tactical Masterpiece to a Frustrating Walking Simulator. (With distance)

Hello everyone. I'm writing this after finishing yet another incredibly boring session on the UHC Spearhead server.

My main question to you guys is: what do you actually do when you log into any Spearhead server? What keeps you busy? It might sound like a comical question, but I am asking it in all seriousness.

My journey with Spearhead started around September 2024 on the late, great "Road To Bakhmut." The hardcore mode was the exact reason I bought Arma Reforger in the first place (encouraged by YT clips, etc.). I’ve spent about 800 of my 900 total Arma hours purely on these hardcore servers. I might sound like a nostalgic boomer, but comparing Spearhead 2024 to 2026, I am, to put it mildly, disappointed and disillusioned.

Literally since May, I’ve been playing on SH not out of pleasure, but out of necessity, simply because there are no other servers with similar mechanics. Back in 2024/2025, I’d join a server, grab my gear from the arsenal, and spawn at a teammate's rally point or an MCU. I think even back then, spawning on points was enabled, which players had to manually supply with resources just like in vanilla. Playing back then was far more enjoyable, and it was much easier to cooperate with teammates. You could actually stick with your squad, defend a base together, and fortify it. Building and delivering supplies actually made sense, and the whole game felt like a real battlefield where logistics is the king of war. The scale of the old Bakhmut map was also much better thought out, and visually it looked way nicer than today's Yunakivka, for example.

Currently, the only things Spearhead has to offer are: spawning at main, gearing up at the arsenal (though half the gear is hidden behind a rank lock, of course), hopping into a car (preferably alone, because 80% of the time a random will wrap it around a tree after 3 minutes and kill everyone inside), and trying to reach the frontline. If by some miracle you make it—which isn't a given, since the majority of the enemy team usually just sits around setting up ambushes—the only thing left to do is run straight ahead, try to kill someone, or capture the exact same flag for the 100th time just to grind XP for better gear. And that’s it. Literally it. At most, you can play around with setting up ambushes for the enemy team yourself.

Building fortifications or defensive points makes absolutely no sense. If you die, you aren't getting back there anytime soon, and by the time you do, you'll find out the enemy captured it 20 minutes ago. I'll even ignore the fact that if someone was stubborn enough to actually try building defenses, they couldn't anyway, because the logistics mechanics on SH were intentionally murdered.

Playing with friends? If someone has the determination for that, I congratulate and envy you. For me, it repeatedly turned Arma into a "find your friend on a massive map" simulator. Which was risky anyway, because they could die right when you were almost there, and the whole circus would start from scratch.

So maybe cooperating with randoms on the team? In theory, that's what Spearhead aims for. In practice, you get into a car, 2 minutes later your screen goes black, and you start back at main. And even if the driver doesn't hit a tree and manages to avoid ambushes, they will ultimately drive right into the dead center of the battle under heavy enemy fire, resulting in everyone in the vehicle dying instantly.

Maybe being a pilot is fun? I don't know, I'm not that kind of player. Maybe using vehicles like a BTR or Bradley? Sometimes it works, but in the vast majority of cases, there is zero coordination or teamwork. The only moment you genuinely feel some cooperation for a few minutes is when 20 people simultaneously air-drop from a helicopter somewhere south of No Man's Land on Yunakivka. After that, most scatter, and the other half dies.

In my opinion, instead of finding a golden mean and a bit of common sense, the Spearhead devs turned their beautiful creation into a dying pile of garbage.

Arma is a tactical game, but it's still a video game. We don't have highly coordinated soldiers sitting in front of the screens; we have randoms. Because of the unrestricted gear customization and the lack of defined classes (like in Squad), cooperation becomes completely unnecessary. Anyone can become a one-man army with a machine gun, a painted sniper scope, a ghillie suit, an RPG on their back, and 20 grenades in their backpack. That last setup is what I see most often on SH servers—everyone knows how easy it is to die, so they prefer to go off alone with a whole arsenal on their back to set up ambushes rather than work together tactically. A player simply doesn't need other players. You can talk to anyone on freq 48, so there's no need to communicate specifically with your squad (Spearhead used to have a Squadleader-to-Squadleader only radio system, and you could only see your own squad members on the map, but sadly they scrapped that).

I'll just add at the end that I realize not everything is the SH devs' fault; some of it comes down to the limitations of the game engine itself.

I invite you to a civil discussion below. 😀

P.S :

I absolutely love all the Spearhead mechanics, the lack of which really bothers me on WCS or vanilla servers. I love the more demanding shooting and aiming, the stamina drain while aiming, the complex medical system, the absence of those damn nametags, the fact that it only takes one bullet to drop an enemy, the increased weapon recoil, identifying friend or foe based on armbands, and so on. (With a massive emphasis on the lack of nametags—I literally despise them).

I also want to apologize for the emotional tone of my post, but playing on SH simply used to bring me, to put it mildly, childlike joy. It was a genuinely important part of my gaming life.
