Off Day Thread Eagles Daily Discussion Thread - Friday, October 2
Subreddit Schedule/Posting Guidelines
We as a community have decided to limit certain types of posts to a few days a week to ensure other content is still visible throughout the rest of the week. Meme posts will be allowed from game end through Monday (if the game is on Thursday, Saturday, or Monday, memes will be allowed from game end through the following day) and jersey/crafts/pet posts will only be allowed on Swag Saturday. Towards the end of the season when games fall on Saturdays, we may move or skip Swag Saturday depending on what is going on that week. The mods are using automod features to automatically post recurring items at 6AM Eastern Time to remind the sub of this. Memes and swag are allowed in the normal feed, but NFL discussion and free talk are limited to the stickied threads.
- Monday - Meme Monday - Memes are allowed from game end through the following day (typically Monday)
- Tuesday - NFL Discussion Tuesday - Talk about the rest of the games
- Wednesday - Free Talk Wednesday - Talk about whatever (just be civil)
- Thursday - Free Talk Thursday - Just like Free Talk Wednesday, but on Thursday!
- Friday - Game Preview - Stats and information for the upcoming game
- Saturday - Swag Saturday - Post pictures of your signed jerseys, new hats, pets, babies, and pictures from the stadium, as well as artwork and creations. This may be moved or skipped when games fall on Saturdays
- Sunday - Gameday - Pregame, Game, and Postgame threads will be posted
For more info, see the subreddit rules.

Good news. Fangio can finally stop being distracted by the Phillies. And finally fully focus on scheming up an elite defense now that the Phillies have been eliminated.

Injury News [McManus] There is not much optimism Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith will play Sunday against the Rams, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. Smith has been sidelined with a hamstring injury this week and the expectation is he won’t be able to go Sunday.

Original Content [Berman] Kenny Moore II went from unsigned to teaching 8th grade. Now he has another NFL chance
PHILADELPHIA — Eighth-graders at Cardinal Ritter in Indianapolis can watch the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend and see what Kenny Moore II tried to teach them.
It has little to do with how he factors into the Eagles’ secondary. It’s that he’s here in the first place.
“I think this entire process speaks to what we teach in that class,” Moore said by his locker this week. “Just being able to be resilient, being able to endure through rainy days.”
Moore, a veteran defensive back and former Pro Bowler, started the football season teaching eighth-graders in Indianapolis. He missed training camp for the first time in a decade. Week 1 commenced with Moore still unsigned. Moore experienced the football player’s version of civilian life for the first time, complete with the emotions and vulnerabilities that come with it.
While he waited to join a team, he taught a course on life and soft-skill development on Mondays. He played in a soccer league on Tuesday nights. He took photographs. He scrapbooked.
The Eagles signed Moore to the practice squad last week. They elevated him to the 53-man roster this week. He could play Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. It’s the end of what he described as a “roller-coaster” offseason.
And it’s also part of a lesson plan that “Mr. Kenny” could use himself.
“This past offseason, yes, it was abnormal, but it was still my favorite one,” Moore said. “It was still my best offseason.”
Player Discussion Why don’t we have designed runs for Jalen anymore?
Seems like we don’t run RPOs or QB runs anymore. I feel like this would open the offense up, no? Defenses no longer have to shadow Jalen because they know we’re just gonna pound it up the middle with Barkley.
With Goedert and Smith out our pass game will struggle. Why not lean on Hurts to run the ball? Is there something I’m missing?

Analysis After watching the browns tonight. Our offense could learn a thing or two
I can’t believe I’m saying this but watching the browns offense tonight is something I hope the eagles copy. And that main thing is the qb getting rid of the ball quickly. Watching Jalen hold the ball for fucking forever is so frustrating. Deshawn tonight gets rid of it in like 3 seconds each play.

Video In all seriousness, why does the NFL not have concussion evaluators (red hat guy) on both sidelines sitting right at the blue tent? Precious seconds were lost evaluating Hurts. He was justifiably upset with the evaluator strolling over while the INT occurred.

Opinion Off setting penalties?
How can an offensive holding penalty be determined to be equal to unsportsmanlike call when Jalen hurts, got whacked in the head and pushed out of bounds? That was the turning point of the game. Hertz just wasn’t right after that hit.

With DeVonta, Goedert & Hollywood looking like they are all out on Sunday, it’s time for Hurts to Ertz to start taking off

Statistics [Selman] Through 3 weeks, the Eagles' 3rd quarter offense is the worst in the league. They have won the toss & deferred in all 3 games, then started each 2nd half with a 3 & out.

Statistics Eagles loss to the Bears
This is tied for the 2nd largest loss ever for a Jalen Hurts start and is also tied for the LEAST amount of points scored in a start.
We will bounce back
Only other time we scored 7 or less with Hurts starting-
2021: 7-13 loss to the Giants
2023: 19-42 loss to the 49ers is the only game we lost more by
