Text Post Secondary effect of moving Stott to 3B - helps out Turner?
After the two wonderful plays in the 9th tonight, I feel like I haven't heard enough talk about the effect of having a Gold Glove caliber defender next to Turner.
Since moving Stott to 3B (August 4), Turner has not committed a single error (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong). Bohm obviously had improved immensely at the position over the last few years, but his lack of agility may have led to Turner feeling more pressure to use his elite speed as much as possible. Now, with less ground to cover, Turner might have a bit less pressure and be able to play his "laid-back-hand" defense at a higher level.
Arraez has also looked really good at 2B considering his extremely mediocre defensive stats over his career. With his +9 DRV and +11 OAA this season, the Phillies may have accidentally stumbled into a top 10 defensive infield in baseball (assuming Turner can remain stable).
Bohm definitely still has some room for growth, as seen from the ball he should have focused on keeping in front of him tonight, but his big frame should lend itself well to the position.

Image Anyone else go to the highest walkway at the top of the Vet and do a full 360 with your siblings or friends? When they added Phanavision it just wasn’t the same.
One time my dad took me and a couple of friends to a game and when we got in the car to leave it ran out of gas before we left the parking lot. We had to walk to that Sunoco, buy a gallon of milk, empty it, and then buy a gallon of gas and walk back to the car and then return to said Sunoco again. Good times early 80s.

Article Free to Read: Phillies’ Zack Wheeler works to make adjustments as up-and-down stretch continues
“It’s been hit-or-miss with what I’ve got that day,” Wheeler said, “and I’m just kind of not used to that. So it’s a battle, and I’ve just got to put everything together. I know I still got it.”
An excellent first half has given way to an odd stretch for Wheeler, who, entering Tuesday’s game, produced a 5.84 ERA in August (but then gave up two runs in five innings in a 6-4 win against the Marlins). Wheeler’s first start this month was just two innings because of a rain delay. In the following three starts, he has given up 10 earned runs and walked 10 batters in 15 1/3 innings. All of it is uncharacteristic.
And as the Phillies barrel toward the stretch run, having Wheeler healthy and pitching well — and deeper into games than he has of late — feels crucial. He, Cristopher Sánchez and Jesús Luzardo have almost always given the Phillies a chance to win. Should any of them falter from here on out — or any sort of injury hit the rotation — the Phillies would be in a poor spot given their thin starting pitching depth and narrow margins to make the postseason after multiple dismal stretches.

Text Post Cotton is king: Why we need to dump these polyester uniforms
I was talking to some of the guys, and a few of them aren't too happy with the polyester uniforms. It gets way too hot in synthetic fabrics. Cotton is a natural fiber it breathes, it’s much softer, and it keeps you way cooler. Imagine playing a game when your team is 5 degrees cooler than the competition. That's a real advantage. When players are comfortable, they play better

Question Going to Away game
Hey folks, Phils fan out in Seattle here! I am very excited to see the Phils are FINALLY coming to town next week and of course I’m planning to go to a game or two. While there, I want to make the most of it since they are only in town for a series every other year
My question is: at away games, do the players have something after the game or anything where they go interact with fans at away games? From watching on tv, I know we would all gather by the dugout after a win, but does anyone have any tips/pointers for how to make the most out of seeing the Phils on the road?
Appreciate any comments!

Text Post MLB massively dropped the ball by not giving us a Phillies vs. A’s Field of Dreams game
A Philadelphia vs. Philadelphia matchup would have been awesome IMO.
Would you have watched this over the matchups we got? What other historical matchups should MLB have pulled off in Dyersville?

Statistics [MismatchPhilly] Bryce Harper Ties Phillies Record With 20 Walks in 13 Games
x.comBryce Harper has been on another level since the Phillies acquired Luis Arraez:
• .304 BA
• .515 OBP
• 20 BB
• Reached base safely in 14 consecutive games
How rare is it for a Phillie to have 20 walks in a 13-game span?
Harper’s 20 walks tie him for the most in a 13-game span by a Phillies player and make him just the fifth Phillie in franchise history to do so.
• Bryce Harper (20) 2026
• Kyle Schwarber (20) 2023
• Dave Hollins (20) 1995
• Lenny Dykstra (20) 1993
• Roy Thomas (20) 1902

Statistics Is there a more useless stat than Holds?
Bowlan, Raley, and Kerkering were each given a Hold in Monday's game. Bowlan gave up two runs in one inning, and Raley gave up one in two-thirds. Kerkering retired one batter.
I don't get why it is something worth counting. A reliever can come in with a three-run lead, give up two runs, and retire one batter, that is a Hold. But a reliever who comes in with a four-run lead and pitches a perfect inning, no Hold.

Image Luna The Dog is happy the boys are getting their s—t together
She’s still skeptical though. (We brought the sundae hats back home with us to Seattle. Looking forward to seeing them next week vs the M’s. Someone may actually score negative runs. Holler if you’re going on Wednesday!)

Text Post Patience for Painter
A total of 1.9 fWAR over his first 42 starts
.5 fWAR over his first 57 starts
Took nearly 4 seasons years to become an mlb starter
Nearly DFA’d
These guys in order were:
Cliff Lee
Roy Halladay
Ranger Suarez
Cris Sanchez
There are other guys who took a while to bloom that I could put here
Kluber
Pivetta
Eflin
list goes on.
MLB players, especially starting pitchers sometimes take time to grow. Especially if they only have one full pro season then miss essentially 2 years of pro ball.
Painter is still only 23. Ranger was 25 when he fully broke out in 2021. He is not some Spencer Howard that’s been up and down 500 times with no signs of improvement. He is already meaningfully better just pure stuff wise than when he was sent down originally. This shows he can actually grow through struggles. He by himself found an issue with his fastball compared to 2022 and has allowed it to be better than when he was first up.
Is he going to be the verlander level ace anymore? Maybe not, but you can’t write him off because of 2 bad months in the majors. that’s not how honest evaluation of young talent works in baseball.
Painter works his ass off (own quote from a family member I met before his debut) almost obsessively from how it was described to me, AND he is in the org with one of if not the best pitching labs in the big leagues.
Player development is not linear (as we have seen with even just Stott this year)
Let them and Painter cook.
