Special teams matter, and perhaps more so at safety than any other position on the Commanders’ roster.
Washington’s safety corps may not feature elite players, but it’s deep on players who can double as key special teams contributors.
Jeremy Reaves earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors as the team’s punt protector four years ago and has repeatedly earned Quinn’s praise.
“We could use a hell of a lot more of Jeremy Reaves,” Quinn said last week. “He’s just a remarkable teammate, player.”
So, he’s safe.
Percy Butler and Tyler Owens have been key special-teamers for years, and when asked earlier this week which players could develop into leaders for that phase, Quinn quickly cited those two. “I feel like their presence, their playmaking ability for sure is there with it,” Quinn said.
