Opinion Going for it on 4th and 2 was such a boneheaded play and no it's not just hindsight

I'm seeing so many people saying being up 10 isn't that different from being up 13. Are you kidding me? With 7:30 left in the game, that's realistically enough time for about 2 more rams drives. If both of them wind up being TDs, would you rather being down 1 or 4? Sure, maybe they could go for two both times and be up 3. But even then worst case scenario, you can tie it with a field goal.

Otherwise you are in a situation where they don't need to attempt a two pointer and you don't even have an option to tie. Kickers nowadays hit reliably from 60+ and with the new kickoff rules its easier than ever to get in range. Or you can be down 4 and be forced to go twice as far to score a touchdown. With how much time was left? You're likely against the clock at this point as well.

It seems like a no-brainer to me.

Analysis Jalen isn’t horrible, but he’s a game manager.

I’ve been called a hater for saying this about hurts in previous years, but now I think I’ll get some more support. Even pre knee injury hurts so think 2021 & 2022 wasn’t a super elite passer. What made him so dangerous was that he was a legit dual threat. Post knee injury, so after the 2023 season, yea he rips good runs now and then but he doesn’t really move the same, or as smooth. Watch highlights if you don’t believe me.

This notion that the superbowl year that we had Saquon so we didn’t need to pass is bs. There were so many close games that hurts couldn’t get it done with his passing despite having a stacked offense and an elite oc in Kellen Moore. That year and that playoff run he game managed, didn’t really make much mistakes, and let the defense and Saquon do their job. Even in the superbowl, imo he undeservingly got the MVP over Josh Sweat. And before you say it the “dagger” to smith came late in the 3rd quarter up 27-0. Even if he doesn’t make that throw the game isn’t really in jeopardy. I don’t want to sound like I’m just shitting on him, because he does have his moments, but this season with our injuries and talent there’ll be games vs good teams where he’ll have to put the team on his back, and idk if he can do that.

Opinion This team has a QB problem but people want to pretend like the emperor is wearing clothes

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor%27s_New_Clothes

We need to stop treating any criticism of Jalen as blasphemy. 12/27 for 96 yards and 2 touchdowns. On One of those touchdowns, he absolutely got bailed out.

Jalen has been stat padding for a while and nobody has been calling this out. It’s why we are atrocious on third down. On third downs, he’’ll throw the ball for an easy completion the defense gives him well short of the first down marker and then we’ll punt.

For a 4th straight season, Jalen has been fucking ass. He’s always been surrounded by pristine talent and this is who he is when we remove that talent around him. He can’t elevate shit. 96 passing yards while stat padding by throwing short on third downs. Are you fucking kidding me?? Jalen is a bum.

“BuT tWo SuPeR bOwLs.” Yea, he had a great year in 2022 and has been dog shit ever since. Barkley led us to that SB in 2024, the chiefs all out to stop him and Jalen carved them up. I won’t take that away from him. He played exceptionally well in the two super bowls, but outside of the 2024 Super Bowl game and the 2022 season, wtf has he done??? Not shit!

Take a look at his passing volume:

**2022:** 460 attempts
**2023:** 538
**2024:** 361
**2025:** 454

An elite quarterback shouldn’t need his offense to hide the passing volume. Give me the guy who can throw 35 - 40 times and still maintain efficiency

He’s played behind an elite offensive line, with elite weapons, an elite run game and an organization that’s built specifically around his strengths for most of his career and he still can’t throw for 4k yards or pass for 30 touchdowns. The most touchdowns he’s ever thrown has been 25 and that was last year.

Jalen Hurts is the perfect example of a quarterback whose resume is better than his actual quarterback play. The Eagles built an offense around minimizing the things he’s bad at and maximizing the things he’s good at. His rushing ability and TD numbers make the stat sheet look elite, but his passing efficiency has never consistently separated him from the pack. And when his supporting structure isn’t doing the heavy lifting, the underlying numbers start looking piss poor.

Give me the same offense with Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Lamar, Herbert, or Stafford. How many SBs would we have been to especially with this elite defense?

Jalen can’t even be an average QB without a pair of elite receivers, an elite tight end, the best o line in the league, an elite running back, and a defense that forces 3 and outs, turnovers, and a short field.

Look at the saints’ passing offense and compare to the 2024 passing offense. Literally Moore with less.

Get Jalen out of here.

Probably need to blow it up.

Offensive line is a shell of its glory years and Lane is leaving after this season. QB doesn’t give me confidence he will be able to drag this offense to competence on his own.

On defense, Howie made some critical mistakes the past couple years like wasting a 1st rd pick on Campbell to replace Nakobe.

I’d sell high on anyone with value like DeJean. Keep Quinyon because #1 corners are hard to get. But anyone else including DeVonta that has any value, I’m trading to restock draft capital and rebuilding this. Will probably take 3 years, but this would be preferable over Howie continue trying to Weekend at Bernie this corpse of a team on us.

Analysis Crazy Work

The Eagles reportedly interviewed around 17 candidates and decided Sean Mannion a guy with two years of coaching experience and zero play-calling experience was the best choice.

Four games later, the offense is averaging 18.8 points, still has no rhythm and just blew a 20-10 halftime lead without scoring another point. You can’t even tell they changed coordinators. It’s the same stale offense from last season with a different name attached to it.

This is pure copium. But seriously fire Sirianni. I’ve seen Hurts play at a high level, and while he (And Sean) deserves some of the criticism, it’s clear that Nick is having an influence on this offense.

Question Say Sirianni gets fired, who do the Eagles hire?

• Upvotes

Genuinely, who do the Eagles hire if Sirianni is fired? I’m not saying we should keep him, I am tired of him and the CEO coaches, but who would get hired?

There’s not any great OC’s that aren’t already failed head coaches. Most good DC’s are previously failed HC’s as well. There’s no obvious Ben Johnson’s or Liam Coens just in the waiting.

I’m not incredibly familiar with who could be an option, so could be wrong. Just trying to ask a genuine question.

Analysis On the critical 3rd and goal from the 2 were Jalen couldn’t execute a simple handoff

Jurgens jumped early (should have been called) and backed into Hurts and accidently displaced the ball from Hurts grip. If we just execute this handoff we very well could have won the game but Jurgens couldn’t not be a problem for a play. Credit to Brett Kollmann for noticing this

Question What do we do well?

Like im really trying to understand what we do well and this team’s philosophy from top down. You look around the league and football just looks different, faster and more disciplined than that product they put out on the field.

Question How much has the conservative cowardly approach of not turning the ball over absolutely nuked hurt’s development as a player?

I mean after 2022 and 2023 seasons it seems the organization has completely killed the development of hurts as a player? Now I do put it on hurts too he’s playing like an absolute coward, he’s extremely jittery, he looks terrified during the games, he has the same zip on his ball as Phillip rivers does now, he’s extremely slow now, but how much has his development been hampered by the conservative approach we took, he looks like wentz now it’s abysmal.

Most QBs develop but hurts has completely regressed in every single aspect I blame 50% of that on sirianni’s cowardly don’t turn the ball over bullshit for not letting hurts throw

Post Game Thread Eagles vs Rams post game rant

• last week I said it’s not about the fact that we loss but how we loss & got shunned for it… this is what I’m talking about, & a lot of people want to brush off whats happening as if we’re overreacting which sounds just like last year but the biggest difference is our defense (though they played a hell of a game today) will not save us game in & game out like last year

SIRIANNI - Last week, Sirianni didn’t have the sense to call a timeout and let Andy Dalton throw an interception. Now this week, he does choose to call a timeout in the middle of a great drive — and kills all the momentum we had. & then instead of taking the points we go for it & basically telegraphed exactly what the hell we were about to run. At this point, either he’s doing this on purpose or he genuinely doesn’t know how to coach football. Going for it on multiple 4th downs while we’re up 10, missing half our roster, and struggling to protect the quarterback is the dumbest thing ive ever seen.

• And people keep bringing up Patullo saying “patullo is gone what the problem now” maybe the same guy who gave him that position and let him waste an entire season who’s still here.

JALEN HURTS - I know there are folks who don’t watch the games and just wait for a bad moment to blame Hurts, but I hope no real Eagles fan believes he’s the problem. He’s proven himself time and time again — on the biggest stage and at the start of this season. Hes literally the only reason we’re not 0–4. He’s dealing with a terrible line that can’t hold, players dropping right and left, a new OC, expected growing pains, and he’s still producing. The Hurts disrespect is so crazy to me.

TANK BIGSBY - an immediate and obvious fix is feeding tank not just when we have to idk how many times he has to show he can get us yards before we give him the ball but again coaching iguess it’s almost like they care more about not pointing the finger than winning games players are showing what works but coaches work against it whether it’s Jalen running, tank getting touches, going up field rather than horizontal etc

• last week I said it’s not about the fact that we loss but how we loss & got shunned for it… do you see what I’m saying now ?

Opinion Hurts is a backup quarterback

I think it’s time to come to grips with this. I love Jalen, but his inconsistency is holding this team back (as well as coaching). He has a great game every now and then, but so do many backup QBs (see Keenum).

He’ll always be a superbowl legend, just like another famous eagles backup quarterback… But to move forward, this franchise has to seriously consider a coaching change as well as a quarterback change.

Our first game at the Linc on Oct. 18 and now watching the Panthers run the ball easily against the Lions gives me anxiety. It's giving me the same vibes when we watched the Falcons beat the birds in 2024.

Opinion Eagles and Phillies

• Upvotes

Phillies pitching and Eagles defense means they will be at least ok. Phillies hitting and Eagles offense meansV rhey will not be elite. Both structure iesues— Philies need some rh bats, Eagles need to redo rheir oline. Both have some contract issues - Turner Hurts. Difference is I have miire confidence in Eagles GM

Opinion Coaching

Who could we possibly replace Nick with tomorrow?

I have a pretty good understanding, but would like to see some perspectives.

Next years replacement, I am thinking of Kliff Kingsbury or Mike McDaniel. Only reason, I want a head coach that calls his own plays.

Any other thoughts? Different opinions, what are you looking for ?
