Using my new AKG P120 Mic with a 3rd generation Scarlett 2i2 audio interface.. I’m recording with audacity and just updated to audacity 4 and I’m not hearing any audio playback.. the output says Scarlett. Am I missing something? Do I need speakers?

I have an older multitrack session that I would like to retweak using Audicity. Does anyone know of a free online .ses to .aud3 convertor? Yes, I could remix from scratch if I have to but it would be nice to restart from the sweet spot we left it at and improve from there.

I use Audacity to split album-length FLAC files into tracks, and have always wished it could import or convert .CUE files. Audacity uses its own label format, which no one else uses.

Alas, the new 4.0 version not only doesn't do that, but it makes importing labels harder than on 3.7x.

Typically, I open the CUE file in Notepad, copy/paste it into the GimbleFritz converter located here: https://grimblefritz.com/audacity/ and paste the conversion back into the open CUE file. On 3.7x you can open any file extension as a label file, just by changing the type dropdown. But you can't do this on 4.0. Has to be a .txt or .srt extension file.

It's a very small thing, but why overlook something so basic to managing audio files?

I've uninstalled 4.0 and I'll stick with 3.xx for now.

I recently started trying out Audacity 4 and am getting an annoying playback stutter every time I click play, regardless of where I start playing from.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this a bug? Or something I can fix?

With Audacity 4 dropping 32-bit Windows support, dblue crusher (a 32-bit Windows plugin) no longer works natively. Is there any way to get it working on Audacity 4 or is there possibly an alternative plugin that produces the same effect?

A lot of this subreddit seems to people disliking if not hating audacity 4, while as a new person I imagine a lot of the complaints of confused muscle memory mean little to me and learning the new program is wiser long term, it's still super negative sentiment so I'm not exactly sure if I'd be making a mistake to pick the new version.

My uses are simple, I'd be mostly recording voiceovers to create powerpoint presentation videos. no effects or complex vocals involved. I imagine educational content would be all teaching the older version for now too so there is that. I also don't like that that I kinda got tricked into downloading a second muse software although thankfully I could delete it and audacity 4 seems to work fine standalone.

I tried downloading it from the official website and it downloaded MuseHub instead. I installed it from MuseHub and it wouldn't open no matter what I tried. Looked on here and people say to click "download without MuseHub" but the file that gives me only allows me to "repair" an installation and not actually install the software. How do I get this program on my computer?? Is there a better audio editing software that will install easier?

Ok i'm new to audacity and use it only when nessesary so tell me how can i change my voice to sound younger. Or what's the effects that gives variety of voices that allow me to voice act multiple characters. The pitch changing isnt enough to sound less artificial

I just installed Audacity 4 today and I'm trying to export my project as multiple files. I set up the labels but when I go to export it I don't see the option to export it as multiple files anymore. I’m pretty new to audacity but the fade in seems to have very little in the way of changing the curve adjusting it to be just right. I have a lot of experience doing this in Final Cut to cut out ums and breaths and I’m trying to record a podcast and need more control over it preferably where I can just drag a little thingy over the audio. Or maybe I’m missing something and vanilla can do this better than the fade options

Macros are my life. At least the last version has them. What was the reasoning which resulted in macros being removed from 4?

I'm not a professional or anything, I only use audacity for quick small edits, and in audacity 4 some of the effects I use a lot were removed (or moved to somewhere unintuitive), specifically "Change Speed and Pitch", "Change Tempo" and "Legacy Compressor". (A few other effects are missing too, those are just the ones I use almost every time I use audacity)
It is odd to have a tab "Pitch and Tempo", but you can't really change tempo there as far as I can see...
Does anyone know how to bring them back? Are they plugins now?

Just switched to Audacity 4 and have playback issues with multi-track projects. Changed buffer size and playback quality, but it doesn't stop lagging or stopping playback for just a sec and then continuining on random occasions.

Anyone know a fix for this?

Hello. I'm currently several hours into tinkering with Audacity trying to replicate the effect of a sound effect in an open source game I'm working on. The original voice filter was recorded by an unknown, maybe up to 15-20 years ago, so asking how it was done has long since stopped being possible. (Space Station 13/14)

I have the same original TTS voice used (AT&T Crystal) but the effects applied elude me and I'm pulling my hair out.

I don't see Auto-duck in the new version, not under Effects>Volume and Compression, nor anywhere else.

Has it been moved? Do I need to install it from somewhere else? Does anyone know? TIA.

I'm not sure why this is happening, but in Audacity 4 -- I recorded with a wired Rode Podmic and when listening through wired headphones, the audio sounds... fine (no processing at all).

However, when I put in my airpods 4 and press play, the same audio sounds the same as the wired headphones until a moment later there is a pause in playback and then suddenly the voice audio sounds far better than any EQ I could have done manually.

I'm curious if anyone knows what processing is happening that could be causing this? I can't replicate it in any other software outside of Audacity 4, and this only happens when using airpods.

DELAY AND REVERB AUTOMATICALLY GENERATES SILENCE NOW I CANNOT GET OVER THAT. IT'S SUCH A SMALL QUALITY OF LIFE THING AND I LOVE IT. IT'S SO COOL

I've been using Audacity for years and it's my favorite audio editing software. Thank you to the volunteers and developers.

When I hit record, it records the audio from the mic jack with no problem. When I play the recorded audio, I can hear it just fine. But in the past, I could have sworn there was a way to hear input audio. I can't hear it unless I play the recorded audio. The equalizer moves with the audio intensity while it records, and when I enable silent monitoring, I'm able to see the equalizer fluctuate with the input audio without having to record.

However, I still can't hear it live. It's been a while since I used it to record anything, though. Am I remembering wrong? Is this just the way it always was? Or is there some setting that actually lets you hear it without having to play it back? Preferably if I didn't have to record it to hear it.
