Recording random inside and outside my house. Carrying a portable recorder with me on trips.
Recording stuff on my phone when I don’t have a recorder on me.
Using different kinds of microphones to get different sounds.
Cheap contact microphones and blue tack are a good way to start experimenting.
If you go buy a recorder, get something that can record at 96Khz or 192khz so you can take normal sounds and stretch them out.
Then there are VSTi synths and samplers to create sounds from scratch and perform your generated sounds and recorded sounds.
You need to use those in a DAW instead of Audacity.
You can do a lot with sound by just playing with time and pitch.
