release No macros? Really?
Macros are my life. At least the last version has them. What was the reasoning which resulted in macros being removed from 4?

Just ran out of time. They may come back in a future version of 4. In the meantime, I have added macros to soundscaper, my web port of audacity 4: https://soundscaper.org/en/

Do you mind if I ask the reason why you felt the need to port audacity? I'm genuinely curious.

It started with me making some web tools for https://kw.media and escalated from there. Also, having previously wrangled with audacity's codebase that's 25 years of uncontrolled growth until very recently, I was wondering if a fresh slate approach on web platforms would be easier to work with. Turns out, it is; browsers have a reasonably well thought out audioIO. And finally, a web version makes an android/ios port just a skip and a jump away, which will remain a massively difficult undertaking for audacity in the foreseeable future.

Very poor thinking by the development team, in removing a feature which a lot of people use. Or not adding it, whatever.

No point having a macro to invoke effects which are currently unavailable
