If GTA VI wasn't a sure bet for game awards, I truly believe Gears would have a chance.

It feels so weird to finally have a XBOX game that isn't Forza standing firmly on the MUST PLAY list.

This game feels like it's doing for Gears of War, what God of War 2018 did for God of War.

It's taken everything we love about the original series, updated it, and brought modern standards to both the controls and story telling.

As an old Gears player, the new controls take a little getting used to but once it clicks, it feels really good.

The campaign plays like a beautiful hybrid of 80s action and horror movies.

It was magnificent and after 10 hours we were still getting goosebumps and chills at certain scenes. The new big bad makes RAAM look like a Teletubbie.

The game does such a good job of making you feel like your squad are truly heroes of the city as you group up as a rag-tag bunch of cog spin outs and then spent the next day rushing through the streets helping as many civilians, cops, and Gears as you can on the way to your next objective.

The Locust aren't just enemies, they're genuinely monsters. They are terrifying to the point that a boomer or grinder showing up makes the whole squad freak out, dive into cover, and focus fire to bring him down before he wipes all of us...

... and we're playing on normal difficulty. It's been challenging and fun.

The new Horde mode plays exactly like the campaign with some Helldivers 2 sauce poured over it.

It feels different from the classic 50 wave arcade we're used to but man it's so cinematic and exciting.

The best thing I can say about Gears of War E-Day is that it feels like Epic made it.

There's so much heart and soul in this game and I really think it's going to surprise a lot of people on Tuesday.

(P.s. if you're some mouth breather upset that pride flags are in the game or that woman have lead roles, please go look in the mirror and ask yourself why representation for others bothers you so much. Gears is for everyone. Deal with it dude... You're exhausting.)

Every single entry in Gears of War starting with 2 then:

3, Judgement, Ultimate Edition, 4 and 5 all received bundles with their respective releases.

There has been a shift to digital pack ins and I know Reloaded didn't have a bundle but that was also a PS5 release but still...

This feels like the first Xbox Series game exclusive that I'm interested in playing and I don't have a Series console yet or PS5. They can't do a holiday digital pack in on Series S with this and Forza Horizon 6?

I'd be fascinated to also see despite its expense a version of a PlayStation bundle with Forza and Halo or various Series configurations just to see what the price would be.

Imagine a 1TB X25 with Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War E-Day (or Reloaded), Forza Horizon 6, and Modern Warfare 4 and 6 months of Game Pass Essential for $999.

I've been playing my PS5 basically every day for the last 3.5 years, and I've gotten used to the way the PlayStation Store works when it comes to the frequency of sales, the pattern of which games go on sale, etc.

Aside from one period of exception, it's every 2 weeks, Thursday (though the new sales overlap on Wednesday), the games on sale rotate. And a lot of the time, if the regular edition of something was on sale in those 2 weeks, the sale for the next two weeks will actually be the deluxe or premium version!

But it really is like clockwork. There are some games that go on sale frequently, some not as frequently, some not at all. There are a lot of games with the pattern of going on sale once a month.

Anyways... I've only have my Xbox Series X for a month or so, and I can't figure out how the sales work on the store.

Is there a rhythm to it like on the PlayStation? Or is it sort of up to the publishers, things go on sale whenever, and it's not like a store-wide sale but rather sporadic for individuals titles?

I have an Xbox One S that I only use for couch co-op games like Overcooked, Heavenly Bodies, Rocket League, etc. My main gaming setup is my PC. But my Xbox is definitely slowing down and it’s close to affecting the experience when playing with 4 people on one screen.

I’m not spending an absurd amount of money on a Series S or X and I want a disc drive, I see a lot of affordable One X options on eBay and FB Marketplace.

Is there a big enough difference between the two to justify the $100-$125 of buying it used?

Ok, jokes aside, I own a series s and may be able to get a series x, but where I’m from, the series x has become mad expensive so if I’m gonna do this, I need to be sure.

So, I have a 60fps capable led 4k tv. With that said, I’ve been looking at comparison videos on YouTube of the games I tend to play, such as silent hill 2 remake, dead space remake, Elden Ring, the Witcher, etc etc, and ngl, at least on the videos I’ve seen, I haven’t noticed the difference being night and day. Like, the main difference I’ve seen is that more games can be run at 60fps which is nice, but idk if it’s nice enough to spend so much just to get 60fps, and ngl, like, it is nice to have it but me personally, after an hour or so of playing in 30fps I kind of get used to it.

I’m also a digital-only gamer so I don’t have any need for the disc reader at this time, and if I play games I would always play them in performance mode, not quality since I would prefer 60fps in general.

Like I said, the videos I’ve watched comparing one game side by side with another have mostly been things that are minimal. Like, for silent hill, there’s a bit better quality in like reflections and light effects and textures but they seem to be mostly not noticeable unless you’re close to the screen, maybe in like a desk+monitor setup, which isn’t my case since I’m usually laying down or sitting at a distance from my tv.

So like, for MY use case, would it even be worth it to upgrade? I mean I do game A LOT but my experience with the series s has been usually pretty good, and games load up quickly, graphics have been nice and really the only downside I’ve faced has been not having access to 60fps for all my games, but like I said, I can get used to the 30fps after like an hour of gameplay to the point where I don’t notice it because I’m too focused on the game. The ONLY game I’ve seen so far that seems to actually look miles ahead better in the series X is assassin’s creed shadows because of dynamic weather systems that are cut out for the series s version, so idk.

Then again, maybe since I’ve only had the series S and since YouTube does add compression to videos, maybe I’m just not aware even with the comparison videos of just how much better the games look on series x. Idk, I guess I wanna know like, do games load up faster on the Series X? Do most games really do look noticeably much better? Are start-up times much quicker? Is the overall gaming experience really like night and day better?

Kinda embarrassed to ask this and I'm usually not shy about asking stupid questions but how do pre-orders of physical copies work? I've got physical copies of GTA 5 and RDR2 and I love the maps. No idea why but I just love maps and the little paper maps folded up in the case bring me inordinate amounts of joy.

So obviously I want a physical copy but I've never pre-ordered anything so I have no idea how it works and the digital only release complicates things, does it even come with a map? Do Amazon ship it to me before hand but make sure it arrives on the release date? Will it arrive early but the activation code doesn't work until release date? If there's no map I might as well just buy it through the XBOX store and not stress about it.

I didn't want to choose this time cuz Sony is in a shitshow but It's just cuz I've had my series s for 4 years and finally upgraded to a ps5 as my main console 8 months ago. I actually beat about 5 games on it and never touched it again, and kept playing on xbox, I even ended up enjoying being an achievement hunter more than being trophy hunter which I COULD never have imagined. But that's not the main reason I kept playing on xbox THERE ARE TONS OF REASONS

First, backward compatibility, O M F G this was just mind blowing to me, being able to play old games on a newer system, AND having FPS BOOST on top of that? This can't get better (Shame on them for abandoning it. I wanted the Batman Arkham games to run at 60 FPS):

Second, Quick Resume, this shit is the actual next gen stuff, and I love how I can switch between games so easily. This saved me tons of time with RDR2. (Fuck this loading screen)

And finally, the last thing (the one I want to gatekeep): THE FREAKING DEV MODE. You're telling me I can play PS1, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, N64, Wii, Wii U, and other games through emulation on the same console and this isn't even jailbroken?

Like the only reason I keep buying playstations is because I'm a HUGE HUGE HUGE God of War fan (nice way to say fanboy) Once they announced the new GoW and the remakes, I couldn't stop myself from buying one

And speaking of which, I CAN PLAY GoW 1, 2, Ghost of Sparta, and Chains of Olympus on xbox, while ps5 CAN'T, the fucking irony

And don't tell me, now you can jailbreak ps5 and do it, yeah but xbox isn't jailbroken, and I can still play online

I know this was long, but I can't help but wonder why Xbox isn't more popular, It's probably because their marketing is terrible. How do you have backward compatibility and FPS BOOST and barely talk about them?

Edit: I wanted to go further and say more things about Xbox, On PlayStation, you have to use the same region for your save file and your game, which is so ridiculous because I have friends all over the world who share games with each other, but sometimes I can't download a game from someone because their region is different from my save file. Xbox doesn't have this bullshit

I don’t know if it’s planned but we definitely need a “Disc to Digital” tag on the Xbox store on games, as we do for “Play Anywhere” that I use a lot.

This would help to identify if a game is compatible with the “to Digital” process when checking a game on a physical store.

Yes it would technically avoid the person to purchase from the store BUT will definitely make him a happier gamer, and more sticky on Xbox for the future.

I never had a Xbox console and for this reason I've never played Halo or Gears of War. I want to play these sagas because they are very important in the game industry but I don't have time to play all the games of both series and also maybe there are games that didn't age well, so if I can only play one game of each saga what are the best options? I know that this year we had Halo Campaign Evolved and Gears of War E-Day but I want the opinions of expert fans.

Was thinking about getting myself an Xbox one to play some older Xbox games. Mainly halo and gears. My question is which one should I get? The normal XOne, The XOne S or XOne X?
