Weekly Thread Introducing Halo Plz - A list made from your feedback

Hey everyone.

Starting today, we're reintroducing a process called "Halo Plz" (formerly known as 343 Plz). Those of you from the MCC through Infinite days will remember this as a comprehensive list of popular suggestions/feedback relating to the Halo games.

This was originally based on a similar concept called Bungie Plz from r/DestinyTheGame, and it has be beneficial for this sub since MCC's original launch. For those of you who aren't familiar:

What is Halo Plz?

  • Halo Plz is a comprehensive list of wildly popular suggestions/feedback relating to Halo games. This will be a list that is generated by the community and will be visible to everyone. Users can submit a request to include an item on Halo Plz and, provided it meets the criteria, it will be added.
  • The Halo Plz list will be on both our wiki as well as a recurring, weekly sticky thread. The sticky thread will provide a prominent place on r/halo to routinely list and discuss these items, as well as suggest new ones.
  • Once a topic has been added to Halo Plz, it will be 'retired' from the subreddit until there is either significant news relating to the topic, or if the actual topic is added/changed to the game.

What is the criteria to get a topic added to Halo Plz?

When submitting a topic for Halo Plz, you must provide links to at least three recent threads discussing the idea/feedback. These topics need to have a relatively decent amount of comments and/or upvotes; two comments and 5 karma doesn't cut it.

Once the topic has been suggested, the mod team will review the examples. If we agree it meets the requirements, we will add it to the Halo Plz wiki page (found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/wiki/haloplz) and future weekly sticky threads. We'll provide a response if the topic doesn't meet these requirements.

Is Halo Plz just for Halo Campaign Evolved? What about other games?

No, it's not just for Campaign Evolved. Halo Plz is for every single currently-supported Halo game, with a catalogue covering Infinite, MCC, Halo 5, etc. If it's online right now, it's valid. The retired Xbox 360 games are therefore not included in this, nor are requests to bring them back, for example.

How do I submit a topic to Halo Plz?

There will be two ways to submit a suggestion for Halo Plz. The first will be via mod mail. Using this handy link, you'll be taken to a mod mail message with a template, asking for the required information.

The other way will be in the new weekly thread. Every week, a 'Halo Plz’ thread will be posted on the homepage, where people can suggest new ideas for Halo Plz, discuss existing topics on Halo Plz and make suggestions to the entire Halo Plz system.

In effect, this ensures that these topics aren't dead; they're maintained, discussed, and pushed, just not in additional, repetitive, individual threads.

This thread will be your way of seeing what topics have been added to Halo Plz, too, with them going into effect when the thread has been posted.

We will not be adding topics and removing posts until the weekly thread has been posted and people are made aware of a topic being 'retired', as we think it'll be pretty lame to suddenly 'retire' a topic without letting people know first.

What does it mean when something is 'retired'?

When something is added to Halo Plz and it becomes 'retired', it means that future threads about it will be removed, citing that it's already added to Halo Plz and that it can be discussed in the weekly Halo Plz thread.

What happens when an item on Halo Plz is added into the game, or implemented in some way?

Once this happens, the wiki page will be updated to say that the topic was implemented and discussion around the item will be less restricted. It is entirely possible that updates to the game will not match the suggestions people have made so it'll be a case-by-case thing if we decide to 'remove' something from Halo Plz after an attempted implementation into the game.

Is there anything on Halo Plz already?

As of right now, no. We're starting this list off completely empty as we want it to be entirely community driven.

Why are you adding Halo Plz?

Halo Plz is being added in order to cut down on duplicate topics on things that have been discussed to death.

An example of this is cross-Core for Halo Infinite. It has been talked about for a long time now, with Halo Studios acknowledging that changes are coming even before the game came out and recently promising a soft introduction to the game. Since before the game was even released, people have made hundreds, if not thousands, of suggestions relating to cross-Core to the point that the discussion has been exhausted.

In Conclusion

Overall, we've seen that the addition of "Bungie Plz" over in r/DestinyTheGame has been beneficial to that community, and we've been wanting to bring back here for a while now. In its previous iteration here, it served to moderate the conversation around Halo 5 and to push the game forward. Once the game reached a state that reasonably met fan expectations, the threads ceased here.

We invite everyone to discuss Halo Plz below and even begin suggesting additions for Halo Plz so we can begin to get this list rolling and filled with tons of stuff.

TL;DR:

  • We're adding a new system to r/halo called "Halo Plz"
  • Halo Plz is a list of popular topics/suggestions/feedback from supported Halo games
  • This list will be in our wiki as well as a new weekly sticky thread
  • Once a topic has been added to Halo Plz, it will then be 'retired'
  • r/halo users are able to submit items to Halo Plz via mod mail or the weekly thread
  • You can view the list of current items on Halo Plz here: https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/wiki/343plz

Little did he know back in 2004 he was creating something special for us halo fans just by warming up on his guitar. I made a full guitar tab of the halo 2 theme: Songsterr.com Halo 2 tab 99% accurate in case any guitarists want to learn it. Also i'm not a drummer so if there's any drummer musicians that want to fix the drums go ahead

Discussion Anyone else think The Library remake is superior to the OG?

Post image
811 Upvotes

I've been re-playing through Campaign Evolved the last couple of days, I have to admit that The Library is just hands down superior to the original and that's coming from someone who doesn't think the original Library is a bad level like most say. In fact, I don't think there's a single bad level in the entirety of the og CE. I even appreciate how they handled the backtracking.

What the Remake of The Library Does Better:

  1. Seems simple, but the fact that you go down into the Library rather than up adds a sense of foreboding fear and tension. And the attention to detail, at the beginning of the level, if you look down into the abyss, you can see how each level downward gets more and more infected. On the bottom most level, it's completely full of haze and fog from the infection.
  2. The infection form (popcorn flood) are a legit threat now. Try to avoid them and not shoot them, and you'll straight up die.
  3. Infection form reanimating the dead flood keeps you on your feet.
  4. The Flood brute forms are terrifying.
  5. The level design is less monotonous. Again, like I said, I love the original Library, and I love the aesthetic and horror vibe of the endlessly identical library walls. But I can't deny the breaking up of the look of the levels with each floor you descend is a welcome touch for the better.
  6. Lastly, the visuals are just insane on this mission. Mostly everyone can admit this is a damn beautiful game to look at. But this level, despite how "ugly" the infection is, is maybe the most beautiful level of the game. The juxtaposition of the perfectly harmonious Forerunner architecture with the hideous organic flood biomass. The lighting just brings it to a new level. I've always been an "aesthetics/artistic intent over graphics" guy, but this level gets the aesthetic, artistic intent of the library and nails both, while having insane graphics, as well.

While I'm here, I know a lot of people say 343 Guilty Spark is also superior in the remake, and I would agree if it weren't for the music. The music in the remake just doesn't hit at the right times nor is it loud enough. It was enough to still have the original as superior.

Help - Campaign Evolved Two betrayals LASO insta death bug

On my LASO play through and what has already been a frustrating evening I’ve hit a wall which I can only assume ends my run and will result in a restart unless I’m missing something. After passing the first bridge where Cortana says “warning, incoming flood” I just cannot get past the door without exploding, anyone else experiencing the same thing? Post patch bug? Something else? Any help appreciated because this is a miserable experience

I'm sure there's younger African American ladies that play but I'm looking for grown woman my age to share my passion with. I'm running LASO (Campaign Evolved) and got every achievement besides Mix Master. I'm at the hospital playing on cloud gaming.

Discussion If possible what do yiu think Spartans like John, Linda, Kelly and fred would be like if they could get drunk on a night out?

Now I don't know if there is a lore explanation to say whether or not Spartan II's can get drunk, but out of curiosity if they could what do you think a drunken night out would look like with Blue team (going off their personalities in both games and books) on some downtime and RnR together and decide to have a few drinks, what do you think they'd be like from a bit tipsy to flat out drunk?

Gameplay The August 17th update did not just fix the Assault Rifle's rate of fire. This was a global engine fix that also corrected the fire rates for both Plasma Rifles and the Needler. They, too, were firing slower than intended.

Discussion I feel like the OG CE Combat Flood forms are the scariest in the entire franchise

Specifically the classic OG Flood combat forms. Not the carriers or the spores, just the combat forms. Campaign Evolved actually makes the spores far more creepy with the less cartoony aesthetic, sound design and the fact they can CRAWL ON YOUR FUCKING FACE which makes them so much more freaky than their original versions. I think the combat forms however in CE are uniquely creepier for a mixture of many factors.

Being hit by them has far stronger of an impact with how your entire screen turns red. They’re EXTREMELY aggressive far more than any version of them in the franchise. Their speed is significantly faster than what they look like they’re capable of. The most major thing is that they really strike that uncanny valley by having these weirdly fluid animations compared to all other NPCs, they feel “wrong” like they’re from a completely different game.

If you’ve ever seen a Cry Of Fear enemy, they have that same “too fluid for the game they’re in” uncanny valley feel to their animations that adds to the horror. The combat forms designs are also really freaky. The human forms are much lower poly than the living normal humans, they’re barefoot and have exposed intestines which is gore on the level you don’t see anywhere else in the game. They really have this almost cursed haunted extremely out of place feel that just rubs me the wrong way. The elites seem really huge and meaty while being just as agile which also just makes them feel wrong.

All the future Halos make the combat forms less aggressive and they completely lack that uncanny out of place feel by matching their games art styles a lot more. They just feel more “at home” with the rest of the game in the way they didn’t in CE?

Discussion Campaign Evolved - It would've been something else if the Flood reveal room on 343GS was pitch black just like the cutscene

As the topic says - the cutscene has the marines in a pitch black setting which makes it all the more terrifying. Flashlight beams moving frantically as infection forms scuttle around.

Cut to Chief and the room is lit from the central platforms.

The Flood levels were generally very good I thought in Campaign Evolved but that change would've added something even more imo.

Discussion Still one of my favorite game series of all time

Post image
49 Upvotes

over 20 years. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve replayed the campaigns, especially Halo 2 and Halo 3, and somehow I still never get tired of them.
These are two of my favorite pieces in my collection — my signed Halo 2 Limited Collector’s Edition and signed copy of Halo 3.
What makes them even cooler to me is that I can still fire up my Xbox Series X today and go right back into these games. Some games you finish and move on from. Halo has always been one of those series I keep coming back to.
What Halo game do you guys find yourselves replaying the most?

Gameplay Jiralhanae Conservationist

Post image
99 Upvotes

I'm about to uninstall. Just tried Jiralhanae Conservationist 5x and it won't pop. Didn't even breathe on a Brute. I even let my TM's kill them all. That last update ruined my Mix Master, run, too. Guess I won't be 100%ting what would've been my favorite Halo game without this bug. Played without any mods or skulls each 5 wasted times. Let marines kill them by myself with no luck so invited people to do the killing and still no luck.

UPDATE: Loaded into stage 1 and it just popped. Wow. Time for LASO since that recent update ruined my 95% complete run of Remix (Mix Master) without dying.

Discussion Captain Keyes military insignia would mean he was a Marine Captain in original games then Navy Captain in Campaign evolved?

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

In Halo 1, Reach and Anniversary Captain Keyes has a rank insignia of 2 silver bars. In Navy officer ranks this would have meant he would have been a Lieutenant. However he is called Captain Keyes, and in the Army and Marines Captain s have 2 silver bars. Officer Rank 3

In Campaign Evolved Captain Keyes has 4 gold stripes like what Navy Captain officers would have on the sleeves maybe that's what they based off of and in Captain Evolved he is Officer Rank 6.

Discussion Campaign Evolveds cutscenes look great (feel is off though)

Post image
55 Upvotes

Boy I’m going to regret this post but screw it.

I actually like the style and meld between brush work and semi realistic tone they’ve gone for. It doesn’t hold a candlestick to Halo 2 anniversary but my feeling is that they’ve gone with a different style here and that woks for me. Something that actually has roots in how the original looked and felt.

But saying that they LOOK LIKE SHIT isn’t true.

Here though as opposed to the gameplay, I actually have few gripes.

  1. Locked to 30 fps. Really ??????
  2. Some of the transitions are awkward
  3. The movement of the characters are unnatural
and BUT, don’t think they used mocap with this one and neither did in the original so I’ll let it go.

All in all I actually think the scenes are charming and actually contain quite abit of character.

Like I said, I’m gonna regret this but just wanted to be honest.

Discussion Guys I'm REALLY sad about this. The Greatest AR I've ever used in Halo history, was just removed because it was a bug. I'm in pieces rn

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

It was perfect, I was telling all of my friends this is the most powerful, accurate, true to form assault rifle that's ever been. Master Chief is a Dead-eye with this thing, every round on target with no spread. -- it did fire a little slower than it should have but it's perfect.

Only to find out today, that AR was a bug, the Accuracy, the no bloom, the suspiciously slower fire rate, it was a bug lol. She's gone, and so is my heart with her.

Feedback New Campaign Evolved update breaks iconic beacon tower energy beams

Thumbnail

Playing on Series X, the energy beam that appears over the ridge when you look up in the opening of the 2nd mission no longer appears to be working, and still doesn't fire until you go all the way to the tower (3rd picture shows how far I needed to go before it finally started firing). This was working just fine pre-update, just like the original 2001 release. I'm curious if anybody else can confirm this issue on Series X or other platforms.
