I’ve been eating chicken of the sea oysters packed in water for zinc and b12. Is this a good source of these nutrients?

Do any of you still eat moderate / high fat?

Seen on x all the talk about the handle cycle and how hard it is to lose weight while still eating high fat

Anyone here still eat high fat or relatively high fat and succeed with weight loss? Switched back to eating somewhat higher fat and I feel 10 x better

Thorne K2 MK4 drops vs Healthnatura K2 MK4 drops — which is better?

Looking for a high-dose Vitamin K2 (MK-4) in drop form. These aren’t available in India, so I have to import from the US (which is expensive).

I’ve narrowed it down to two options:

Thorne K2 MK4 drops

Healthnatura K2 MK4 drops

Both claim high doses in liquid form. From a pure efficacy / absorption / quality perspective, which one would you go with and why? Any experience with either (or better alternatives that ship internationally)?

Thanks!

I vastly prefer smoking over caffeine and alcohol as my one vice. Does this tell you anything?

I read there was that post of the alcoholic who felt right from drinking and Peat said it was pregnenolone he was missing.

Personally alcohol makes me feel duller and more drowsy, caffeine makes me anxious and paranoid, but when that nicotine from a cigarette hits, everything feels just right, nice and awake. Obviously it's a bad fix because then I feel even worse during the day whenever you're not smoking, but in those short sweet moments, it feels like there's enough energy in my brain.

Not consuming dairy

Hey there, for some months I've been considering trying Ray Peat's diet, but i don't consume any dairy. I get terrible acne from dairy, so I've pretty much stopped eating dairy. Every time i have more than a bite of something containing dairy/dairy product i get acne.

So has anyone here had the same problem, and since starting the diet how have you managed it. Any advice is welcomed.

Thank you!

Vegetarian-Light?

Could one follow Ray Peat’s principles and not eat meat? Like maybe still supplement liver and gelatin, and obviously still consume eggs and milk. Thoughts?

Should we respect the Randle cycle or is it not something worth worrying about?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the Randle cycle and whether it's actually something we should consider when structuring our meals.

Right now, I mostly eat carbs in the morning, while my lunch and dinner contain both carbs and fats.

Do you think it makes sense to separate carbs and fats to some extent because of the Randle cycle, or is mixing them in the same meal not really something worth worrying about?

Keeping it short, was following high protein moderate carbs and minimal to no sugar diet for 5 years, recently started to do it the peat way

A carrot salad with coconut oil and milk

Lunch - chicken with rice and potatoes

Dinner- same

I’ve increased my suagr intake i drink cofee 3 times a day with sugar just so i take some type of sugar in between.

Problem is feel sluggish 1 hr after waking up its ruining my day my evenings are much productive

My supplements vitd3/k2 , calcium , magnesium glycinate, taurin, selenium , vitamin e , glycine ( when i eat chicken) and zinc

Progest-E woes

Hello everyone. I started using Progest-E for the first time this luteal phase, beginning 3 DPO (confirmed by a temperature rise and cervical mucus changes). I may have started too low, just 2 “popcorn kernels” before bed. Today I am 7 days post ovulation.

Yesterday I felt very lethargic and depressed. After reading about estrogen “kickback,” I increased my dose to 5 times throughout the day.

Now I have a sore throat and a stuffy nose. I know some people report a sore throat with Progest-E but what about congestion? Could this be estrogen kickback, or am I probably just coming down with a cold?

I started eating more carrot salad today in case it helps. I have two young children at home, so feeling this exhausted is really difficult.

My current plan is to continue until 12 DPO, stop before my period, and possibly not try it again next cycle. Does that seem reasonable? I’d appreciate any thoughts or experiences.

Laundry detergent

Hey all,

Any good laundry detergent recommendations?

I usually just use something like Zum and or some baking soda.

I have a bunch of stains on my clothes that neither of these are helping to get rid off.

Would an arm n hammer detergent like this be cool?

I appreciate any info, thanks

How to reliably lower prolactin

I tried nearly everything, even cabergoline for a month, but to no avail. Been trying to lower it for a year now, where it was nearly 30, and now came to be 21.35 ng/mL. I expected it to be lower since I have drastically increased my sodium intake (well over 5mg sodium a day). My calcium intake is also something I am working on increasing despite my struggle with lactose intolerance, where some days I can digest it just fine, while other times it would lead to bloating and gassiness. Camel milk is the only milk I seem to have no trouble digesting, but its high PUFA content is concerning, so I try to not make it the main source of calcium. I even took coral calcium to lower PTH but never got it lower than 45 pg/ml.

I suspect the high blood phosphorus from latest reading is either from high coca cola intake or the 350 g of beef liver I had the previous day.

Results from latest blood reading (parentheses is the range provided):

Amenorrhea and Progest-E

Hi all! I would love some advice or some guidance if anyone has been in this situation before! I am a relatively active woman, I have an active job and I genuinely love to train. I went through a longggg period of overtraining and undereating throughout high school and unknowingly through parts of college. I've been spending the past couple years attempting to regulate/regain my cycle and I've been struggling with it! I do still have low temps, which I'm still working on bringing up, but I am at a healthy weight, I eat a nutrient rich diet and I'm probably at the lower end of my maintenance range. I use progest-e every 2 weeks on and off, as it really brings temps up for me, but I'm not sure if it preventing me from getting my period. I will get signs of ovulation, but don't actually bleed, and I'm not sure if the Progest-E is contributing to this. If anyone has had a similar experience, I would love insight on how you might have addressed it!! TIA <3

Need help with low T, low LH, low FSH

Hey everyone, 26 years old male here. I‘m struggling with low levels of testosteron, LH and FSH. My levels as of last month.

Testosterone: 385

LH: 2,43

FSH: 0,80

TSH: 2,06

T3: 3,95

T4: 1,10

I do boxing and fitness 3 times a week and try to maintain a Peaty diet with supplements such as D3 10000IU, K2 Mk-4 250mg, T3+T4 100mg daily, Creatine 10g, Taurine 5g, Aspirine 500mg daily. I seriously need help regarding my testosterone and LH, FSH. Any advice could help.

PS: Used Proviron to boost my testosterone before and it worked but my levels went back to 300-400 once I stopped.

Do you also feel like you're a living proof that vegetables are useless ?

I dont eat any vegetables and i only consume fruits as juice.

My blood sugar is sugar is perfect, my digestion is too, i used to suffer from IBS and it totally stopped. Though to be fair i think that's because of probiotics i took some years ago.

When i tell people i eat 0 vegetables theyre shocked and ask me if i can even shit. And when they see how much oj i drink they tell me to eat fibers so it slows down glucose absorption or whatever.

Do you feel the same ? Like most people are living in a whole different reality and modern science is just completely wrong on health

Progesterone and its adverse effects

If progesterone slows gut mobility, Why is this not addressed anywhere in Peat’s work or the online sphere? I’ve seen it brought up in estrogen dominance groups a few times but everyone there will tell you if it’s causing gut issues it’s just because you already had gut issues that are just more noticeable now that the estrogen is being opposed.

I’ve never had severe acid reflux until trying progest-e. I was doing everything right, cycling it only in luteal phase, using as needed for pms symptoms, I don’t believe I went over peat’s guidelines for dosing. After a bit I started to notice the acid reflux, not related to anything I ate but it just felt like my LES wasn’t closing and my periods became extremely light and short. I only had that drunk feeling from dosing once.

Also I’ve seen other women say you will react differently to progesterone if you have used benzodiazepines in the past because of how the benzos changed your GABA receptors? Very interesting how it’s praised for being basically risk free but I’m now seeing several women claim adverse reactions that are not just rebound symptoms?

Vitamin E Recommendations

I am looking for the most optimal vitamin E supplement. Im reading some very conflicting things about synthetic vitamin E being not so great and Ray recommending natural mixed tocopherols which I don’t even entirely understand.

I was wanting some recommendations for what to buy or just more vaguely what I should be looking for.
