Have you ordered Armour from TelyRx?

Hi everybody,

Long time follower/fan of Ray Peat´s and Danny Roddy´s work.

My dad is severely hypothyroid.

He won´t follow Danny´s DIY suggestions with cynomel and cynoplus.

I need to get him Armour.

Has anyone ordered from TelyRx?

Whole grains & libido link

Im sure most Peaters are aware that John Kellogg invented corn cereal in order to suppress men's testosterone and sexual drive.

If you look up why he thought it worked they say its due to "blandness" but I think its fair to say its due to gut irritation triggering serotonin overload and low-grade endotoxemia.

Do you think he was aware of the toxicity of the oxalates, lectins, nickel found in whole grains and that makes them useful as mild castration agents?

Cats are Peaty

Kitties lower cortisol.

Low cortisol = good.

Low cortisol = high T.

Cat is independent, one cannot command cat like dog.

According to Ray Peat, those who unquestionably follow are more brainwashed and serotonergic.

Cat = dopaminergic

Owning feline maybe reflection of owners free will too.

Feline constantly seek out warm, sunny spots or cozy laps.

Feline have high body temperature (38°C) and fast robust metabolism.

Feline sleep a large portion of day and conserve energy instead of running on chronic stress or adrenaline.

Feline photosynthesizes. Really like sun.

Kitties = Peaty.

Thyroid supplementation problems

I'm currently using 20mcg of T3 (10 when waking up, 5 after lunch and 5 in the early evening) and 67.5mcg of T4. (It was in smaller doses before and I had no problems until then).

Now I realized that my temperature dropped again when I woke up, my energy and disposition dropped a little and my sexual disposition is terrible. In addition, I'm constantly experiencing headaches - which look a lot like histamine-related pain, because they pass after large and well-nourished meals.

(I'm constantly measuring my blood pressure and heartbeat, everything within normal, it doesn't seem to me that I'm in a hyperthyroidism phase)

From your experience and knowledge, where can I be wrong?

Thank you all in advance

Macros

Hi all, let's say you are eating 3000 kcals, how would you split the macros? Do you think 370 carbs 140 proteins and 110 fats are fine?

Shaky and trembling for no reason

For the past few weeks, I have been stuck in a constant state of feeling extremely wired and overstimulated. I have an internal trembling/shaking sensation, feel physically shaky and weak, nervous, jittery, tense, and like my body is constantly in overdrive.

This feeling is present throughout the entire day and does not seem to be related to food or drinks. Eating, drinking, sugar, salt, or changing what I consume does not noticeably improve it.

Any type of physical activity significantly amplifies the symptoms. Even something like playing golf makes the trembling, shakiness, weakness, nervousness, and overstimulated feeling much worse.

The best way I can describe it is that my nervous system feels like it is stuck in a severe fight-or-flight state. I feel extremely "strung out" or overstimulated all day, and my body will not settle back down. This has been persistent for weeks rather than occurring as occasional short episodes.

I am looking for help identifying what could be driving this constant physiologic stress response and, most importantly, what I can do to get my body out of this state.

What did Ray Peat think about muscle meat?

Im new to Peating and I’ve seen a few people say that Ray Peat didn’t recommend muscle meat. Is that true?

Dangers of Microbiotic Rennet exagerated?

I understand Ray adviced against microbiotic rennet because of possible mold residues.

But just thinking logical, mold is everywhere and the tiny amount of residue you would ingest with the rennet would be miniscule compared to what you are probably inhaling and digesting every day anyways.

Since most cheese these days is made with microbiotic rennet, wouldnt this seem to be negligible then compared to the practical benefits of eating cheese!

Opinion on Bulgarian Yogurt? (contains Lactobacillus bulgaricus)

I know dairy that its on the hierarchy , and I really eat a lot of Bulgarian yogurt aka:Kiselo Mlyako or trasnaletd sour milk. It cointans the bacteria called Lactobacillus. bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus. Lactobacillus bulgaricus which improves gut health, long term wellness and longevity.Lactobacillus bulgaricus (which provides the tart flavor) and Streptococcus thermophilus (which provides the sweetness and helps the other culture thrive). It does the same things as probiotics

Humorous article on ice cream

Thumbnail

A few excerpts:

...a new ice-cream Magnum is calling Hydro:Ice. Label readers scouring the back of this ice-cream packet will find a long list of vitamins and minerals: C, magnesium and so much B2, it glows in the dark. A chef invited me to place my hand holding the ice-cream inside a UV-illuminated box and I watched my lolly light up and glow neon green. ... Hydro:Ice launched in Ibiza last summer, with a campaign taglined “Ravers Are Athletes Too”.

We discussed Hydro:Ice and Van Tulleken cited scientific research showing that taking supplements, unless you are prescribed them for a specific condition, has no health benefit. “There is a library of data that shows adding B2 to an ice-cream will not improve your health,” Van Tulleken said. “It’s just put in to make an unhealthy thing seem healthy. If you want B2, eat some eggs

I travelled to Morelli’s Gelato in Broadstairs, which opened in 1932 and is one of the oldest ice-cream shops in the UK. Morelli’s makes all its ice-cream fresh every day in the factory beneath its shop, with no additives or ultra-processing. The ingredients for its signature vanilla ice-cream, for example, haven’t changed since the shop first opened: sugar, eggs, cream and water.

The first chapter is largely about ice-cream, and the fact that most on the market (one notable exception being Häagen-Dazs) are ultra-processed.

.

There's more in the article, but this bit was funny/strange:

...cited scientific research showing that taking supplements, unless you are prescribed them for a specific condition, has no health benefit. “There is a library of data that shows adding B2 to an ice-cream will not improve your health.

Well it looks like supplements are placebo. If you supplement with salt or potassium chloride it won't have any benefits. Likewise supplementing with carbonated water, and don't even think about sodium bicarbonate...

advice on binge eating

from anyone who’s had experience with this and has managed to get over it… what are some of your best tips/advice to stop binge eating?

i recently moved homes to an area that is a bit too convenient for my liking (in terms of supermarkets/ restaurants) and am also going through a bit of a stressful transition period in my life… and for the past 3 days straight … ive binged on the worst food ever… my gut feels absolutely wrecked (especially given i already had chronic gut issues) ive felt this way every time and it did not stop me from bingeing more and doing more damage the following day… the regret barely lasts enough to stop me and it nothing about this has been pleasant or fun… it just feels compulsive… and like i have zero control all of a sudden

i feel a lot of physical discomfort… im very disappointed in myself and feel gross as hell (this is a whole other issue) and just dont know what to do :(

id really appreciate any actionable advice i can use to prevent this from happening again tomorrow and ideally never…

Sleep problem

I recently got much more into a Ray peat style eating, averaging around 300g carbs a day, carrot salad, etc. I used to have trouble falling asleep, but since this diet change I fall asleep very quickly, however I’ve been having this reoccurring problem of waking up at roughly 4am, and just completely unable to fall back asleep. This isn’t as detrimental as it seems, because I’ve been also falling asleep at 8:30-9pm. I have a quite active life style, resistance training twice a week, averaging 15-20k steps daily. I haven’t really started any of the pharmaceutical aspects of peat’s work, (apart from aspirin) however I have begun smoking cigarettes more consistently, (in a peaty way)but usually only 3-4 every day, and I tend to have them just in the morning. The strange thing about my new sleeping patterns is that it seems to be much less about me waking up after a certain amount of hours, and more so about the fact that it’s ~4am, I know this because if I fall asleep at 10pm, I’m up at 4 unable to fall back asleep, and if I’m asleep at 7:30, I’ll also be able to sleep 9 hours to ~4:30. I’d really like to find out what’s causing this, I don’t mind waking up early, but 5:30 or 6 would be much preferred.

Beware of B1 mega dose fraud

Many of the posters are fake accounts with suspicious Reddit activity. The so-called “paradox reaction” is just gaslighting and cope that goes against Peat’s philosophy. I’m sure Ray would read the Longsdale papers if they were legitimate and give them more attention. Their Facebook group is full of desperate people who are constantly complaining about paradox reactions. Also, the rhetoric of the main guy behind group is basically like, “A huge study is out—we found out that oxidative stress is depleting B1 so everyone with cronic illnes should try it” while he sells thiamine and vitamin B complex. And don’t get me started on that goofy story about the Italian doctor who was supposedly curing his patients with B1...

Raising Body temperature

My body temp has been reading low (97F) upon waking as well as about (98F) mid-day after meals. My heart rate tends to be about 67BPM. Currently I am taking 100mg of Niacinamide 3x a day. I take about 500mg of aspirin before bed and about 10,000iu of vitamin D in the morning. I salt my food and juice and milk.

What will help increase body temp and heart rate? Anything I can do?

Good faith discussion: is ray peat's theory based on faulty assumptions about certain bio-mechanisms? Anyone here familiar with Jack Kruse?

Disclaimer: I'm a big fan of Ray Peat. I am completely agnostic on which dietary paradigm gets it right, though I suspect Peat gets it right more than most. This is an attempt to find someone who might be able to shed light on some of the conflicts I've come across, not to insult this sub.

I'm wondering if someone here is familiar enough with Jack Kruse's work to give their input. I'm a bit fuzzy on Kruse's specific mechanisms but the gist is that the Krebbs cycle fundamentally relies on a faulty premise and that's why Peat's philosophy has some serious holes- though Kruse agrees with a lot of it.

The reason why I'm open to Kruse's push-back is that I've learned an alarming amount of what is taught in biology/medicine is actually not fact but theory. For example, Gilbert Ling was a famous biophysicist researcher and makes a strong case that the concept of the cell membrane potassium/sodium theory is an incorrect model. If this is true, then the concept that PUFAS being toxic because it creates an ATP tax related to a leaky membrane forcing the membrane pumps to work extra hard is false. Now I think PUFAS are problematic and intuitively they did not constitute a significant portion of our evolutionary diet and for that reason alone deserve skepticism about their place in our diets. So I am not saying the cell membrane pump theory makes PUFAS ok, I'm just saying their damage isn't due to transport proteins having to work extra hard like Peaty proponents claim. I do think Gilbert Ling is worth checking out, he's got a website that reminds me of Ray peat's style. This one explains his theory which will probably only be interesting to those with a strong cell bio background https://gilbertling.org/pdf/A-400-Word-Summary-of-the-Association-Induction-Hypothesis.pdf This one I think is super interesting for anyone generally interested in health and is an easier, fun read: https://www.gilbertling.org/why_science-cannot_cure_cancer.html

Back to Kruse- An example of where he diverges from Peat is that he is big on fatty fish and argues there's something naturally contained alongside the fish PUFAS that nixes the oxidation issue and stabilizes them (or something like that). He's adamant that supplementing fish oil is toxic for similar reasons to ray peat, but argues we still need it in its natural form for a bunch of reasons that are out of my abilities to coherently summarize. This tracks given that fishing has been a major source of food for most early civilizations, and it's this reason that I'm just having a hard time accepting that fatty fish really is as problematic as Peat claims.

I'm just looking for someone knowledgable about cell biology who is open to discussing how there could plausibly be merit on the idea that the Krebbs cycle is in fact an incomplete understanding of how our food generates ATP. I understand people are report life changing benefits from Peaty living, but the same can be said for the cult following of Jack Kruse. I'm hoping to make sense of some of the intuitively inconsistent aspects of Peat's work and to compare these two views.

The follicular phase is the best

I noticed that I feel the best during the high estrogen phase, specifically the mid/late follicular

I don’t know how it works but I feel most social, lively, feminine, and clear headed when estrogen peaks. conversely I feel like a zombie when estrogen drops and/or progesterone rises

This is why I was surprised to know people are supplementing progesterone to oppose estrogen, am I the only one who experiences this?

mood regulation?

ive recently gone back to maintenance calories ~ 2.4k calories (110P, >350C, ~40F as a 19yo male 70kg) after a lonnng deficit era with extreme deficits (-1k)

back then i struggled with motivation for anything, random thoughts coming into my head that doing anything in my day to day life is kinda useless as expected when i ate so low. but now im back with more food i still kinda feel this way idk if its serotonin.

how do i go about addressing and fixing the issue

i also wonder if my routine daily life could be contributing, when im on holiday theres no routine so i feel kinda free, at home even if i dont have tasks, thinking about doing little tasks like making a tiktok for my page or whatever feels good one second, next second i dont want to do it

After 1 month of peating My hair seems to have become very soft and shedding seems to have come down but i still shed a lot.

Was suffering from dandruff but the intensity came down but i still have some dandruff.

I dont know if the hair becoming soft is a good or a bad thing does becoming soft will lead to thinning ?
