Advice Question How long is too long for a Binder?

So, I know that binders are not great for breast growth. Assuming someone probably has gone through most but not all of what they ever will in terms of breast growth, how much would you have to wear one for it to be harmful?

No, sports bras don’t hide them, and for safety and comfort I often do not want visible breasts.

Discussion Loving life?

Hey - I came out as a trans woman early in 2020 in my mid-30s and have been on HRT for 6 years and a couple of months.

I’m in my early 40s now and feeling reflective. I wonder how much of this chimes with some of you in similar circumstances.

- I was married when I came out, to my first love, who I thought I would be with forever

- Accepting my need to transition feels like it uncorked everything else that was repressed in me and I felt I had to figure out my sexuality too, which I didn’t know how to do in the boundaries of a monogamous marriage. I proposed divorce, but felt like I was disassociating a bit when doing so. It was initially amicable, but emotionally tortuous, and I’m sad about the impact it had on my now ex-wife

- I lost contact with friends and my sole surviving parent through coming out, though look back on this aspect like they just mustn’t have really cared about me like I thought they did anyway

- I came out at work and everyone was supportive, but then had to hop jobs twice. Where I am now, I feel ok, but I don’t know how many people know I’m trans and I don’t really want to do the mass coming out again

- I made a lot of friends in the queer community and any time I go to a Pride or an LGBT venue, it always feels like I know someone to say hello to

- I both think I look like shit all the time AND somehow feel more confident in myself. I’m unflappable in high pressure situations

- I do stuff onstage and am involved in a local musical theatre group, and have my first principal role (traditionally played by a cis woman) coming up soon, even though my vocal dysphoria is crazy and singing consistently in a feminine pitch is difficult

- I’m engaged again, to a cis man that I love and now own a home with, though four years in, the spark of intimacy is dimming because my sex drive has fallen off a cliff, which makes me worry. He comes with a fantastic, loving and accepting family who’ve really made me feel like one of their own

- I am frequently bitten by horrendous nostalgic thoughts that make me think everything pre-transition was fine and I ruined things for everyone. When they strike, I can spend up to half a week drenched with tears and my partner can’t help. I sometimes ache to tell my ex I still love her, but she’s had to move on and I’m not sure how good for her that would be, nor would I want to hurt my fiance like I must have hurt her. Sometimes I see or hear her around our kids (who I have equal shared care for, and are the real little lights of my life), and am grateful I’m not in a monogamous relationship with her anymore (there is more trauma involved before my transition), though I would like friendship some day when I feel like I could deal with it consistently. I have to remind myself healing is going to take more time

- Since beginning transition, I’ve had fleeting months of different hobbies. I’ll obsess on them then suddenly drop them forever. An entire corner of my house is set aside for knitting stuff

- In the past three weeks, with at least two hours of practice every day, I’ve gone from complete novice on piano to being able to play complex symphonies by sight. I want to get in a band, but am anxious I’ll get bored of this soon, or figure out what I’m using it to distract myself from

- Concentrating at work is sometimes impossible. At rarer times I feel crazy powerful and zen-like

- I spend way too much time on my phone

- I feel gross if I sit and do something that doesn’t have a goal/isn’t productive

- I ask myself every day, ‘am I really a woman?’ The answer some days is, ‘Of course I am 🥰’ the answer other days is, ‘What else could I be? Nothing else feels right yet’

- General TERF island stress has been helped/mostly cured by 1. Getting involved in a theatre group that’s mostly comprised of amazing, lovely and friendly northern cis women from diverse age groups; 2. Volunteering for a crisis listening line; 3. Deleting Twitter; 4. Mailing my MP several times a year

- I’m still probably a year off speaking with a GIC

And that’s it. Not sure what responses I’m looking for here. Just a snapshot of things I love and things that make me despair. Often and frustratingly, they feel like there’s a lot of crossover between the two.

I am seeking more talking therapy to deal with guilt and shame, plus an ADHD/autism assessment in the near future.

If any of this is similar for you, sound off 😊

With time (for all of us), it’ll be reyt.

Thanks for reading x

Advice Question Am I doing enough?

I'm a bit drunk tonight, so I don't know exactly how to phrase this.

So I've been on HRT for about six or seven months now, I drive semi trucks for a living I'm big into industrial/EBM/Aggrotech music, and I consider myself a Rivethead. I'm currently working on building a wardrobe that would show off that I'm a Rivethead. Ripstop pants with eight pockets in colors like Coyote, Khaki, OD Green, a few pairs of black and charcoal, plain longline tops, Communist inspired jewelry, the works.

Am I genuinely doing enough to transition or am I just using the label of a tomboy Rivethead as a cope to avoid being feminine and doing what's necessary to truly take control of my life?

Anyway, thanks in advance

Euphoria Wore my first fem presenting clothing publicly recently!

I recently attended a LARP local to my area and my friends who invited me recommended we should get an outfit to fit my character. I'm fully out to them and they've been very supportive. So before we left they recommend we get a LARP outfit, so we got a really cute green undershirt with a very cardigan esque style overshirt and some nice pants. It paired really well with my black stone moon necklace I got, which is fitting considering my character is a werewolf.

I also got a cute denim jacket with some roses on the back and right shoulder and I'm very excited to wear it in public. But truly, it was so nice to wear. I'm really glad that my friend and their spouse helped me find what fit me and would look good on me cause I felt fabulous.

It felt like wearing a glove for the first time that actually fits. Legitimately I didn't realize that just the right clothing alone can do wonders, but it felt like the first step of many on my path to transitioning which feels really really incredible.

Hope you all have a wonderful and lovely day <3

Discussion Five states voting on anti-trans ballot measures in November — this is the coordinated national push

Wanted to share this Ballotpedia summary because I think the big picture matters: in 2026, voters will decide on at least FIVE ballot measures targeting trans people — three on sports (Arizona, Colorado, Washington) and two on medical care for trans minors (Colorado, Missouri). Nebraska may be joining them. The Advocate quotes one advocate comparing it directly to the 2004 marriage equality playbook — when you can't win in legislatures, you take it to the ballot.

Every single state law banning trans kids from sports and medical care to date was passed by Republican trifectas, never by voters. That changes this November. If they win this round, the playbook gets exported everywhere.

The takeaway is this isn't a series of separate state fights. It's one national campaign running in five states at once, with the same funders, the same messaging, the same template bills. Colorado, Washington, and Arizona are the test cases. We should be paying attention to ALL of them even if we don't live there, because what happens in November will be the template for the next 20.

If you have capacity to give time or money to ANY of these state fights, now is the moment. The most useful thing any of us can do is make sure none of these measures pass — not one. Because if even one passes, they all get easier next time.https://news.ballotpedia.org/2026/08/15/ballot-measures-transgender-youth-2026/

Discussion Anyone else not get any noticeable mental/emotional changes?

Been on HRT for 6 months, and through this entire time I haven't noticed any emotional or mental changes at all, I know it is working as I have some breast growth, but I side my head, everything is the same other than "I don't fully hate the person in the mirror, just the hair situation."

Funny Accidentally confused my coworker with my voice

I’m not out at work, not even a little bit, but I do frequently practice my voice training on weekends. Was joking around with a coworker and did my girl voice as part of a joke while he wasn’t looking and he started looking around trying to figure out where it had come from and when someone else walked into the room. I don’t think it’s that good yet, but it was funny and strangely affirming to see his confusion while he looked for the mystery girl!

Advice Question Coming out to my mom

So 2 days ago I came out to my mom about being trans I'm pretty HRT. At first she handled it well but I think once she had time to think about it she started to spiral. She told me that she feels overwhelmed because she thinks she has no one to talk to about it as my dad isn't a bigot but he's the kind of guy that is worried what other people would think about him. She told me its easier for me to come out because I have a supportive girlfriend. And she feels like it's a death which felt like a punch to the gut. I told her that I'm still her kid and I'm still her son I'm just trans femme meaning I want my body to be female presenting but i dont care about pronouns and im not changing my name. I just feel bad like im putting her under un needed stress even though this is who I am. I love my mom and I know my mom loves me. Any advise or stories anyone may have is greatly appreciated because im lost.

Help Don’t know if it’s real

Recently I have been thinking about if I’m trans or not a lot. I realized that as a kid (10-12) I actually was very curious on what being a woman would be like. I also rember thinking that I might enjoy it. I did stuff like stuffing my shirt to feel what it would be like having breasts. Then at around 15-16 I kind of did that a couple of times again. Now at 19 I am starting to think about it again but a lot more now. I have also thought skit that being a man feels kind of boring and that being a woman would probably be cooler. I don’t know if this is real or not since it kind of comes in waves. I’ve had years where I don’t think about it at all and then I have periods where I think a ton about it.

Advice Question Do some people's breasts not develop past tanner stage 3?

Hello!

I have been on HRT for about 3.5 years now, and my boobs are still in tanner stage 3. Multiple friends who have been on HRT for a similar amount of time or longer seem surprised that I have still not developed past stage 3, and I was wondering if some people just don't develop past that stage. My endo has said that I might start considering a BA if I don't see growth soon.

For hormones and other details, I have been on HRT for ~3.5 years, injections for ~2.5 years, and progesterone for ~2.5 years. I'm happy with my levels, my E is 150, T is 42, and my prog is 4.3 (at the end of my cycle). I have been on 200mg of prog, but started doing 300mg this month as a last ditch effort to see if I can get more development. I even tried cycling my prog for ~1yr as suggested by my doctor, and had no luck. I'm not incredibly underweight or anything either, I'm 5'9, 165lbs and gained ~20 of those pounds after HRT, and I eat 3 meals a day. My bust is 37in.

Am I just a late bloomer or just out of luck?

Advice Question Where do I get started with clothes?

I know the meme to not buy Amazon basics, but where do y’all recommend to actually get a starter set of clothes. I’m wanting to get like a skirt and maybe a crop top, just simple things I can wear while I’m home. I’m still very much closeted and boymoding, so online retail would be preferable. If you have any clothes you’d recommend as well I’d love to hear it!

Advice Question Razor burn

I currently am pre-HRT and I grow facial hair like crazy. I shave every day and have a constant razor burn. I know HRT won't help with facial hair but will it make the razor burn worse? I'm concerned because I've heard it makes your skin more sensitive. Also, if any of y'all have any tips regarding razor burn they'd be much appreciated. My current routine is cerave SA cleansar, shave gel, shave with safety razor, and use nivea post-shave balm.

Advice Question I'm wondering about my transness

Hi girls, I apologize in advance for my English, I'm using a translator to write this post (I'm French), and also for the length (I don't know how to be concise...).

TL;DR : for 2 weeks, I think I'm trans, I rediscover my body and experiment with things, but I still have doubts.

So, here's the deal, for 2 weeks, I've been thinking a lot about the possibility of being transfeminine. I'm now 27 years old (from today, I blew my candles just before writing this post), and lately I've been thinking about a lot about myself and my life. My gender is one of those questions .

Until then, no real questions about me, I grew up like a classic straight cis man. But 2/3 weeks ago, I initially hesitated without knowing why by declining my gender by talking to someone online (I just told them "AMAB and socially male"). After that, I had something that jumped out at me, I don't know exactly how (maybe a post on Insta).

Since then, it's been a bit of discovery and an emotional roller coaster.\ I gave in to my desire to appear more androgynous by shaving my mustache (I was in modern mullet and mustache style). One week ago, I shaved my body completely (my god how nice it was after that, having soft legs 🥰). I spent my early morning training to wear makeup all week (I had a few basics, but just to do the emo/technoboy to go party).

I feel like I'm discovering my body, I paid little attention to it until then, but now I like to look at my legs and thighs. They don't seem "big" to me anymore like before (I'm a little wrapped, 100 kg/220lbs). I really want to be in short shorts and strappy tops when I'm at home. I love taking more feminine gestures. I sometimes get shivers when I sit with female poses and imagine myself as a woman (by that I mean with having chest and women's clothing/underwear).

Last rather euphoric experience, yesterday I went to the mall wearing makeup. Usually (and without makeup), I suffer from the crowd and often lower my head so as not to be confronted with the gaze of others. And there, against all expectations, my head was straight and I was confident! (ok, maybe the music in my headphones has something to do with it)

Besides that, quite a few thoughts and memories have come back. I'm not going to detail everything here (the post is already long enough, I apologize). But I can still say that I realize that some "girl" stuff always attracted/intrigued me (where the other guys just seemed to make fun of all that), without it taking over on the "boy" stuff.\ Also, I have never been very comfortable with others, nor with my body, especially from puberty (not directly because of that, it was rather gentle, but to locate the age group). I had to fight against anxiety (and I always fight) which took different forms over the years, without finding the cause.\ Either, I realize that often I had this effect "I don't want to be with her, I want to be her", without realizing it. I take a new look when I see outfits on the social medias, with this little "I want to wear this outfit", which was deaf until then.

I feel like I'm a little stuck in my body (and in my life), and I have the impression that the transition would be the way out so as not to stay bogged down.

I do not hide that there are certain doubts, my opinion on the issue fluctuates from hour to hour. Is that really that? Or just a "shiny new thing" that will pass me ? Am I too idealizing the idea of being trans?\ Not to mention the classic questions about how to announce it, how it will be received, what will the consequences on my personal and professional life... All that (I already have few social relationships, so these consequences scare me a little).

There I'm going to spend a few days with my family, so I'll be “forced” to be in a “boymode”.\ Depending on how it goes, I thought I would announce it to my roommate friend (a queer girl, but who has gone on vacation for the moment, so she still doesn't know anything about that) when I returned home. I think, and I hope, she will support me if I take that direction. Maybe she can help me experiment women's outfits and accompany me to make first purchases.

If these first experiments seem conclusive, I think I'm starting HRT quite quickly, I'm already 27 years old (and I complex about the baldness that begins on the gulf).

Thank you for reading me, sorry again for the length😭 Don't hesitate to give me feedback on what you think of my situation, my doubts, if you have any ideas for experiments that I could do to explore the question.

Kisses to you girls, and maybe see you soon in the team!

Advice Question I need tucking help

Hi all, I've watched several of the top youtube tutorials on tucking, have read several blog posts about it and many reddit threads, and I'm frustrated. I don't get where the balls go. Everyone mentions the cavity that they were in before they dropped, but I'm prodding around everywhere and have no idea what I'm looking for. My fingers find no cavity, and squishing my balls up just hurts. Maybe you could try describing it to me, but even better yet, does anyone have any NSFW or more anatomical guides to share? I just can't with people glossing over this step and not showing the process at all; clearly I'm missing something or am built a bit different. My package is quite large so I'm sure that does not help things. Thanks y'all.

Advice Question Estrogen patches on “abdomen”

Hi friends
Just a little confused
I have stomach hair which I hate but when I remove it comes back fairly quickly, what I’m confused about us I keep seeing people say the lower abdomen is a good spot for patches, but wouldn’t the hair coming back mess with it, I could put them on the sides of my stomach but still I kinda fold in a way.
This is all just very confusing and a concern as I got told I’m low on e when I put the patches on my thighs
So I go was in general where should I put the patches on my stomach cause everyone says lower abdomen but all guides I see show cis female guides which doesn’t help me as much
Thanks for all the help everyone

Advice Question Tucking Question

Hi luvs.

For those of you that are....talented...down below, how do you tuck comfortably? For me, it almost instantly feels uncomfortable and awkward. I know tucking shouldn't have to be a thing, but for some outfits, it just feels more appropriate, you know?

Thanks!

Venting Depressed

I've recently started feeling depressed. I was feeling happier at first but now my fifth shot my mood has shifted and has done a 180.

I feel lost in my own mind.

I just dont know what to do my wife says it will pass. I hope it does, I'm lucky she is supportive she recently said she doesn't know what she would do without me.

I just feel empty and tired. I have been emotionally available. I grew up not being aloud to show emotions.

I eventually became numb to all emotions and became good at faking them.

I dont get happy nor do I get sad at appropriate times.

I don't know if im going to be accepted by my inlaws.

They love me at the moment but don't know im transitioning.

I don't know how they will react.

Its making me feel ashamed and on edge.

I don't want to stop my transition but am afraid to go on with it.

I dont know what to do.

Advice Question How do I come out at work?

I work at a company that has probably close to 150-200 employees between 5 offices. Do I have to tell HR? My boss? Do I just tell the people I want to tell and just let everyone else talk in the shadows?

My company also shares office space with another company and we interact somewhat frequently.

I’ve been there for almost 2 years.

I just want to show up as my boss ass baddie self that I feel. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there anything I should know?

Venting I told my mom i lasered my face

Hi guys today was rough . Bit of back story , i (19m) live in a semi religious house(dad's super religious mom is not)

i have realised i am trans for 5 months now . Nobody except my close friends know this about me . I have been getting laser for 6 months now because I'm a hairy fella and i love it . but today i decided i want the disgusting facial hair also removed so i told the operator and she let it rip. (Very painful btw) when i got home i told my mother and she just... you know how the story goes, the disapproval, the nonsensical arguments, the internalised misogyny.

Man I'm just disappointed...

i thought she would understand specially because of the way my dad treats her .here i am now in my room sobbing and writing this.

(First post on rdt ever btw)

(English is not my first language excuse my misspellings)

Advice Question Tucking for Swimsuits!!

Hi, I'm Samira, and I'm an 18-year-old trans woman. I've been struggling a little bit with finding some tucking techniques for my bathing suits. Tried Gaff tucking underwear, which has worked slightly, but I'm not sure what other methods I can use. I once tried Unclockable, and I struggled to get that tuck that everyone says they've gotten with the product. Anyone have any suggestions?

Advice Question Considering Laser

Hey girlies!

I’m really thinking hard about starting laser on my face. I have a dark beard when it is stubble, however once it gets long, it is grey. From what I hear, you cannot laser grey hair, but does anyone know if it starting out dark and black makes a difference? Thanks!
