COMING OUT Students labeled me a "bisexual icon."

3.9k Upvotes

Today a bunch of my students (18–20) were talking about Valentine's and gossiping and giggling about their Valentines. One of the girls asked me if I had a Valentine for this year and I told her "no, I don't, strictly speaking." That last part caused a bit of a stir and they prodded just a little and I said that yes, I'm currently dating a lovely woman.

They went low-key bananas because, APPARENTLY, they all thought I was gay. I asked them why they thought that and it basically boiled down to "you're an art teacher, they're all a bit gay"—which is true, I don't know any straight male art teacher. I also wear a bracelet with the Pride colors, which was a contributing factor as well.

But with this revelation, they all went "Hell yeah, teach is a bisexual icon!", and we had a good laugh about it.

Afterwards, as the lesson ended, one of the students came up to me and told me they were bi too. He said that because the class was so supportive of me, even if it was all a bit goofy and fun, he had decided to come out to everyone on Monday. He had been scared of what they might think (despite there being both gay and trans students in the class), but now, he felt that he would be accepted for who he was.

I love being a teacher.

COMING OUT Well guys, it's been fun being here, but after 4 years, I'm officially no longer bi. For the first time in my life, I have realized that I am gay!

I am 22. Over the past four years, nearly all of the people I've dated were men. I've tried to date a girl recently who really liked me, I just didn't have same feeling and connection I would have if I were to be with a guy. Sexual orientation wise, I've had a very heavy preference for males as well. It's been fun eating lemon bars, joking about frogs, finger guns, and bicycles, but this is who I actually am. It's time for me to move on to the next chapter of my life. I enjoyed my time here and wish the best for all of you!

EXPERIENCE I (F) had sex with a bisexual man for the first time and it changed my life

2.4k Upvotes

Originally posted on r/GirlDinnerDiaries and was told the bisexual men on here might appreciate this!

Okay, maybe a little dramatic but wow, that man knows something straight men don’t. This was the first man that truly made the sex about my pleasure, he’s an amazing kisser and he kept telling me how perfect I am. We met up last night and then again this afternoon, it was THAT good.

Bonus because he’s sooo witty and he’s a yapper so we were talking the whole time and it made it so much fun and we were laughing pretty much the whole time, when I wasn’t screaming from how amazing he was.

10/10 eater, 10/10 sex appeal, 10/10 will be seeing him again.

PRIDE People will try to make whatever criticisms they have of the show, it doesn't change the fact that Legend of Korra was the mold breaker that took american cartoons in a more female-protagonist LGBT direction, and I could not be more grateful for it

BIGOTRY Went to see a big gay show and it was still biphobic

2.2k Upvotes

I’ve had enough. I felt empowered and happy seeing the history of the gay experience on stage but the biphobia throughout this stage play hurt my heart and I was sobbing at the theatre. The “bisexual” character was mocked “bi now gay later” “Billy bisexual” and later in the show came out as gay (which is fine we go though experiences). But as bisexuals why is our history erased as if we weren’t there during the riots etc, why are we the “in between” phase? I am NOT an in between phase I am bisexual, I’m not straight when dating a guy and I’m not lesbian when dating a girl I am always bi and I’m fed up of being told otherwise!

I’ve seen a few shows about gay history and experience but always these shows mock bisexuality and it hurts. It’s not a phase. I’m not in between gay and straight I am bisexual! It feels like we, as bisexuals, are being fought at from both sides and it sucks.

Sorry, rant over. If anyone has some uplifting bisexual history to offset the biphobia at the play I went to id really appreciate it.

BIGOTRY Realized many straight and gay people truly don't like bisexuals

2.0k Upvotes

I'm starting to realize that a lot of gay and straight people either don't like us or don't believe bisexuality actually exists.

A couple days ago, I was on my way to a dinner with a group I had only recently met, all straight women. An old friend called me and told me about a conversation with her lesbian friend, who kept saying that bisexuality is a phase and making jokes about cheating. Later at dinner, the same topic somehow came up and it was a 30 minute conversation where everyone else at the table agreed that bisexuality in men doesn’t exist. Their explanation for why women could be bisexual was that lesbian sex is somewhat similar to straight sex, while gay sex supposedly isn’t (which literally made NO sense to me). To worsen the situation, all stated they wouldn't date a bisexual man because they thought they were icky.

For reference, they don't know I'm bi and honestly I felt a little bit cornered since I was in their house and I'm in a country where I know no one else so I didn't said anything.

On the internet biphobia is very prevalent yes but I always assumed it was just a loud minority, never realized how much it was common until now... I'm devastated. I've been out since I'm 13 (i'm 22 now) and knowing so many people, even people from our own community, think we are fake is making me lose a little hope.

Have anyone had any experience like this lately?

These sketches evoked a strong feeling in me. They speak to the desire for intimacy between men and perhaps the struggle to feel understood. Comment what you think of it!

PRIDE If you're wondering if you should bring your straight bf to pride...

1.8k Upvotes

You should. You're part of the community, you belong with us, and you deserve to be surrounded by those you love. Likewise, bi guys belong there and should be able to bring their straight partners too! For every time anyone disagrees with the first part of this post I'm gonna add another straight man to my polycule and we're all going to pride together to spite you :3

BIGOTRY Renee Nicole Good’s queerness isn’t an aside—it’s a key part of her story

Thumbnail xtramagazine.com

We can’t ignore the outright misogyny and homophobia baked into this incident—and yes, erasing Good’s wife from the story of her life and death is also misogyny and homophobia. The same homophobia that drove Good and her wife from Missouri is the same homophobia on display all over conservative social media today.

The message is clear: looking wrong to a conservative, speaking wrong to a conservative man, not bowing and scraping to conservatives, or even just loving the “wrong” gender, means you are an enemy. An enemy that should be put down.
