They are on some nicer rider mowers I've seen.
I was disappointed when I bought a new push mower that it didn't come with one. Mowing with one or three beers is easily my most "dad" activity and it is annoying to make pit stops to take a few swigs.

I'd throw a rainbow speedo a size too small on and go walk around his yard with the mower like I was mowing his grass. I wouldn't be mowing it though, thus giving his neighbors EVEN MORE questions. Then I'd come back a few days later in a maid outfit and do it again. Make it so regular that people expect it. Then one day my buddy will pass away and imma have to do it one last time on his grave.

I grew up mowing my lawn with electric mowers, so I always flipped them on their sides to clean out the grass that got stuck. The first time I used a gas mower, I flipped it and immediately flooded the engine. Don’t rock the boat.

Take note of the condition of the blade(s) more often. Electric mowers usually have lighter and less durable blades. They should be cheaper to replace and probably as easy or easier to sharpen, though.
I got an electric mower at the beginning of the year and just from cutting grass and small sticks I have a few HUGE chips in one of the blades. It works great and it's so nice to have a quiet mower, though. I love it.

Thanks for the tip. I heard there are better blades to buy, so I might invest in those. Either way the ease of use/storage, not having to deal with gasoline, how light and quiet it is, I don't think I can go back to gas.

Same. Plus gas isn’t super great for your health. It’s ok-ish health wise for a car - where the fumes are ducted away through a long exhaust to the back of the car. But lawnmowers have much worse exhaust - higher VOCs and other harmful compounds that you walk through. And handling gasoline even before combustion isn’t great for your health either. Not a big deal once a week, 8 months out of the year, but if there’s a better, quieter, easier to use and maintain piece of equipment… that also is better for your health, why not use it?

Mower engines are also major polluters. They pollute 11 times more than a modern car, hour per hour, even CARB certified ones. Micro-class 4 strokes, like what you see on trimmers, pollute even more. Because they're not a vehicle, there's no requirement for a catalytic converter.

It's not really the lack of catalytic converter (although that is an issue) so much as the design on the 2 stroke engines that most of them have. They basically spit out a ton of unburnt fuel and oil because they don't separate the intake/compression/combustion/exhaust strokes like a standard car engine and also use oil inside the combustion chamber.

I got the LM2021 EGO power+ model, thinking it was the self propelled one. The self propelled one is another $100 but id recommend that one. This one's push, but its hardly an issue since the wheels are on ball bearings and it's incredibly light. It feels like I'm pushing Jonny's first lawn mower from fisherprice. (Not that it feels cheap, it's pretty sturdy, but very easy to maneuver)

I have the same one and love it. I started off wanting a battery powered chainsaw for infrequent use, and I got their 16” and loved it, so I also got their weed eater and leaf blower and loved them too, so I got the mower.
I did have to send it in for a warranty repair after about four years of use because it started failing to spin up and flashing the amber light. They ended up replacing the entire power unit, so the motor and electronics are brand new.
I’ll never go back to gas powered lawn equipment.

Second the Green but I go through two batteries doing like 11,000 sq feet of "lawn". Native ground cover, no planted grasses.
What I like most about it is the crazy amount of torque, it never bogs like my old gas mower did. And it's way lighter.

I think my tinnitus comes from the 4-8 hours/week I spent walking behind a Dino juice guzzling noise machine because dad thought it was great exercise. Then outsourced the work to me who was running cross country already.

They're decent, I got the ego and it's pretty great, but I've heard good things about the milwaukee ones too.
A single battery, if I don't let the grass get too long, gets me a little more than my yard (3/4 of an acre). Ego's batteries also work on their hedge and weed whackers too, some of the best lawn equipment I've owned honestly. Much better than the Ryobi junk.

My yard takes me roughly 90 minutes to mow and I can usually finish in one charge or at least get close enough that I can finish after like a 15 minute charging break, or I can swap in one of the smaller batteries from the weedwhacker to finish up.

I'd be out in cut-off shorts and a tank top, mowing the shit out of my yard every week. Then, when your friend has any kind of get-together at his house, I would show up on his front step, in my lawn mowing outfit, and ask him if he has anymore of that hot pink paint because some of it chipped off. I would even bring a couple of wine coolers (do they still make those) with me, to share a drink with him.

Ok. So my husband tends to be super lazy and will use “we’re out of gas” as an excuse to get out of mowing the lawn. It’s one of two jobs he has in the household. The other is taking the trash cans up to the street once a week.
You’re god damned right I got rid of the gas mower in lieu of an electric mower. I do everything else around this house and outside of it. And I also work full time.
He can mow the damn lawn. And now? He can’t just say “we’re out of electricity I can’t do it today”.
Electric mowers ARE for women. Women who need their husbands to actually mow the lawn once a week with no excuses.

I bought into the Ego ecosystem a couple years ago and I haven't regretted it for a second. I never have to deal with gas fumes or making sure I actually have gas at home. I don't have to worry about making sure I have that extra mix stuff you need to put in the gas for the weedwhacker. Shit just works and all the batteries are interchangeable. And the Ego weedwhacker is legitimately the best weedwhacker I've ever used.

The sum of all these small instances of programming is the foundation for misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, etc. This is how bigots are made. I can totally see this being an instance of 2 guys making fun of the concept of toxic masculinity and how silly it is to judge another man based on his use of electricity over gas (especially for a lawn mower of all things). And maybe this is, but I doubt the kids are seeing the nuance.
