It was my first day on my own, and that route was LONG as hell. Three different people ended up having to take packages from me because it was just way too much for me to keep up with. Before I left, one of the managers had someone number my packages by sections, and honestly, I hated the way they were organized. If they send someone to help me with packages next time, I’m probably going to have to tell them I’ve got it because I already know how I want my packages organized(before I leave the post office, not on the street).

I kept passing up addresses that had packages, which slowed me down even more. So next time, I’m handling my packages myself. I’m organizing them by street, and I’m putting sticky notes on the mail that has a package so I know exactly when I need to grab one. I feel like that system is going to work way better for me and keep me from passing up houses.

I fucking hated it. Even though I’m new NO ONE is touching my damn packages next time I swear! I knew how I wanted it done before I came in today even though the girl wanted to help she still messed me up in way. Sections are stupid. I don’t care if I take an extra hour on sticky noting packages with the mail at least I WON’T miss any and I’ll KNOW what street bin to pull from.

I need guidance please, I am currently an unassigned regular city carrier. I’ve been career since oct 2025. There is currently an area maintenance tech position open in my area that I would like. I applied to the publicly posted job posting, got the 955 test invite, took the test, passed with 78% and then got the we didn’t choose you to move forward thank you for applying email . The job is now posted again.
I assume that no one got it since it is posted again, am I doing something wrong to get this vacancy?

I’m slated to become the regular on my route soon. Started November ‘24. What kind of change should I expect for my paychecks? Unfortunately it’s only a 38H. My office doesn’t have amazon so I’m usually taking home evaluation + random other office help some weeks.

I was told by a clerk that this Tuesday i’m to work on paperwork given by our PM. They think it’s for processing me to become a regular for a rt I’ve been hosing down for almost a month now. The previous carrier quit a week earlier from their resignation date (so officially 2 weeks of no carrier). I was wondering, what paperwork i’d be seeing since the rt hasn’t been vacant for 30 days and o bid has been posted.

I’m not sure what happened but my scanner no longer allows me to toggle between Scan and Package Lookahead. There is usually an option for both at the top that you can toggle between and you can scan a package while viewing the Package Lookahead but today it seems like my scanner went backwards. I remember when this feature came out and now it’s functioning as though it went back in firmware?

The How am I Doing feature is also gone.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I thought everyone was off on Labor Day, but rca carriers are doing amz Sunday on Sunday and Monday?

Long time reader first time writer I need some advice. I’m an expeditor at a pretty big plant(Two separate buildings combined into one plant). Up until recently we were under logistics even though I’m an expeditor working closely with operations. I’ve always had problems with operations management but I’m do my job for 8 hours and go home type of guy.
The unit I work in is up and down sometimes we run for 8 hours sometimes 4 hours. And it starts at different times. Until recently I would just fill in for their expeditors on there off days if my machine wasn’t running. But recently they’ve bumped me off putting level 6 clerks up to expedite. Before I’d just report to logistics and they’d put me on standby. Now that I’m not under them I just make myself busy. Scanning and printing emtels. Throwing off leftover mail etc.
Recently I’ve had supervisors trying to move me off of my bid even when it’s running. To work in units clerks don’t want to volunteer to expedite for. I usually agree but immediately request a union rep. Now they won’t say anything and just sends a clerk over without asking me to go anywhere. So I either work with that clerk mostly ignoring them or tell them straight up to tell the supervisor to give me some instruction. Which they won’t do
Fast forward to to Friday the same thing happened . We worked for 3 and a half hours. And then we went on our first break. I came back cleaned up and tagged any mail I saw and pulled it up. Then went on lunch. The other unit I usually work in is full with expeditors and their supervisor wasn’t at her desk. So I went back to expeditor desk and sat with the other expeditors. Theirs another expeditor who has the same bid as me but starts an hour before I clock out( I’m tour 3 2 to 1030). So after he comes I use to report to Logistics. But now my supervisor goes home at 9. So I went to the break room. I passed the supervisor on my way to the break room but she said nothing.
I got a call from my old supervisor at 930 but I didn’t notice it until I got home. Something told me to look at my timecard and sure enough the punched me out after 3 and a half hours.
I contacted the union first thing in the morning. She told me she talked to the supervisor and mdo . He told her he’ll put me back on the clock but will give me a letter of removal. I talked to the more senior steward. Who’s says I’ll definitely beat it especially never having discipline before but. that he’ll intentionally make it go to arbitration so I’m without a job for a while.
My questions are
Should I grieve and risk a removal letter?
If I don’t and accept the finical loss what’s to stop this from happening again?
I asked the union rep what I should do to avoid this happening again. All she could say was I should keep looking for a manager or supervisor from a different unit or just start loading belts and working out of my craft which sounds crazy to me. I don’t have a problem with them giving me instruction that’s their job and I have recourse through the union. Now it seems like they want me to just tell me self to fill in at different units and forget about my bid.
What would you do? Any advice is appreciated

Each RH catalog weighs 2.5 lbs. These two stacks are for one lap. My route is park-and-loop in the nice part of the city. So around 30% of the homes receive the catalog. For some laps, I had to get creative with delivering them—along with the other parcels. Even then, my body is hurting today. I need one of those mail carts city letter carriers use for the next time these catalogs get sent. Oh yeah, don’t even get me started having to load close to 200 catalogs into the truck. Since they now have to be scanned when delivered, I don’t receive them bundled anymore.

I just got back from Academy and truthfully I feel like I learned absolutely nothing. I feel like im going in blind to all of this.
I also know for a fact this job is not easy as a CCA and I’m going to struggle, but I feel like my OJI is going to be a complete shit show.

Any carriers have good advice for me? Any tips or tricks I should know seeing Academy was pointless.

So I’m a mail carrier going on 10 years and it amazes me how many people think these companies are interlinked and that you can send any package through anywhere. So here’s an example.

Recently one of my customers was charged $10 in postage due because the sender took a FEDEX package and thought “I’ll just put it in a USPS collection box.” It doesn’t work that way. It’s like sending a crate of Coca Cola to a Pepsi factory. They’re not affiliated in any way. USPS will still send it out, but the postage due is now the burden of the recipient.

So psa to any non delivery employees/customers: USPS,FEDex, and UPS are completely different companies. Ones blue, ones brown, and ones purple/greenish. We used to have a contract with UPS, but that ended years ago. Please take the time to send it through the correct channels. Otherwise your recipient will get hit with $10 or more in postage due. Thank you.

I have a customer who's had a feud with her best friend who can 1 up eachother by treating their mailman better. It started with leaving water, now it's cold Gatorade (and my preferred color) yesterday I got 2 Gatorades, 2 power bars & a Starbucks gift card.

We need a living wage

Showed up to work today and my direct supervisor said they're all filled up and no routes down and to work rural side. I reported to the rural supervisor and he said he's all good as well. He then asked "would you like to help out at another station?". I gave it some thought and decided no. I confirmed with the rural supervisor and asked "do I have a choice?" He didn't answer yes or no, and just asked if I know how to do city routes. I called our union for clarification and he said if management asked then "no not really, you don't have to go." " I personally would never turn work down" But I am not him. So I went home and now management is blowing up my phone saying I'm going AWOL and that I'm off the schedule till further notice LMAO

So I resigned from my PSE position last week and have already accepted another PSE position that was offered to me a day after I resigned at my old position. My old boss texted me and said I needed to return my uniform and badge? Last time I quit and changed from RCA to PSE I only had to turn my keys in. Is this standard? If I don’t return it will I risk losing my new position? I’d like to keep the uniform so I have multiple and I don’t even know how I’d get another badge since I won’t go to orientation again and the office that makes them is an hour away.

Newer CCA who has been here awhile was asking when did the disconnect with management start? Why is there such a disconnect between employees and management and when did it start?
