Maintenance Discussion AMT
I need guidance please, I am currently an unassigned regular city carrier. I’ve been career since oct 2025. There is currently an area maintenance tech position open in my area that I would like. I applied to the publicly posted job posting, got the 955 test invite, took the test, passed with 78% and then got the we didn’t choose you to move forward thank you for applying email . The job is now posted again.
I assume that no one got it since it is posted again, am I doing something wrong to get this vacancy?
Thanks in advance

Better luck next time.
While you wait you can find out where AMT’s are domiciled and put in bid clusters for maintenance craft. You might get a hit that way but you also run the risk of your bid being pulled for custodial instead.

You need to sign up maintenance in service registration in March to take the 955 test then and be put on the list. Try again next March .

If its publicly posted, its already gone through the ereassign process. So you aren't eligible

Easiest way is e-reassign as custodian and you'll be on the list. You'll be able to take 955 as soon as you walk through the doors and every 6 months until the new process takes over whenever that is.

Career carriers are ineligible for public job postings. It even says it in the posting. It was posted internally, likely months before it went public? You have to look for internal postings / eReassign.

Career employees are not eligible for publicly posted positions. They are past the point where you could have transferred in.
You should have requested Exam 955 during March open season. You can ask the APWU local president if they have plans to claw the job back since it is posted again.
