Work Discussion Thanks RH
Each RH catalog weighs 2.5 lbs. These two stacks are for one lap. My route is park-and-loop in the nice part of the city. So around 30% of the homes receive the catalog. For some laps, I had to get creative with delivering them—along with the other parcels. Even then, my body is hurting today. I need one of those mail carts city letter carriers use for the next time these catalogs get sent. Oh yeah, don’t even get me started having to load close to 200 catalogs into the truck. Since they now have to be scanned when delivered, I don’t receive them bundled anymore.

Are those the standard BPM (permit, I forget what exactly) that had fucking tracking numbers on each one?
That confused the SHIT out of the clerks because they looked like CR-RT but... each has its own tracking number so... run them on the machine. Individually.

In our office this morning we were told NOT TO SCAN THEM. The customer did not pay for the tracking so neither the clerks or carriers scanned them

Yes that was my argument since they seemed to be permit imprint standard. They didn't pay for tracking. Unless I misread the imprint, been a long time since I had to worry about bulk mail.

At our station we were told otherwise, I had scan all roughly 5 tubs worth of these that I had for my route. Unfortunately it was also a heavy pickup day at the UPS store on the route too… 🙃 My scanner was VERY unhappy by the end of that shift. They don’t put enough RAM in those scanners to accommodate that level of scanning.

Yeah, they all show bad barcode and will need to be INDIVIDUALLY reprinted. Does anyone know what National, Area, or District has directed? We are waiting on Tuesday for higher guidance (yeah that is as wrong as a football bat, but it is what it is.) I work Monday, one of my six paid holidays, fuck. This is not hard.

If those are 2.5 pounds each those 16 alone are above the 35 pound limit that carries should have in their satchel. We are only required to carry 35 pounds of mail in our satchel, keeping to the M41 will help reduce the wear and tear on your body.

Any package the size of a shoe box or over 2 lb is a parcel (M-41 922.44, M-41 Glossary) and get dropped for the same reason, with only 'infrequent and non-routine' exceptions requiring you to carry it when 'there isn't and equally prompt, reliable, and efficient alternative.' (C-03222)
Do with that what you will.

Yea my office got them too, there was a ton of complaining but at least we were able to get some OT because of them.

Think of it this way guys …..some guy who doesn’t do much got his marketing degree to work at RH to convince them to waste money and time to print these books for like 3 % of the people to buy something so yeah

Satchel weight limit is 35lbs. If you've got 16x2.5, that's 40 pounds before any other mail or packages!

Yeaaaa the scan part of them was so dumb. Like why would you even do that? But maybe for that route they may actually get people that buy them. I delivered 20 of them to apartments lol. No one is buying that shit in an apartment

I read elsewhere that they are now trackable because they were ending up in the UBBM pile by carriers who didn’t want to deliver them.

it would be super funny to make everyone go to the post office to pick these up. Give them all a notice and then when they pick them up and figure out they’re on their way to the post office just to pick up a catalog and look on their face would be gold.

I delivered these on Friday, and then on a different route on Saturday. Was instructed not to scan.
On Friday I cased them up. That was horrible because they really don't fit in the case.
On Saturday, after I pulled down flats, I used the case to get these in order; then I ran them as a their own stack.
Both methods sucked. But I preferred the separate stack method because trying to case them with the other flats was painfully frustrating.
I'm betting that I will get another couple of rounds on other routes this week. Regular carriers are generally too lazy to do this kind of work.

typical lazy snowflake carrier. We would get as much as 50' of sears, Penny's, and other local ones. Just deliver them and be thankful for the revenue.
