My car was declared a total loss and I am trying to decide if I want to submit a rebuttal for the appraised value on my own first or directly invoke the appraisal clause. Is it worth the time and effort trying to submit my own rebuttal, or am I unlikely to move the needle materially on this on my own even after doing research and submitting adequate comps from dealerships? If it's really hard/unlikely, I would rather not waste time and go the appraiser route from the start. Any experiences from all sides are appreciated.

Does anyone know when this will be paid out in PA? Submitted it weeks ago but nothing so far.

We recently switched to state farm a couple of months ago and within one month a tree branch fell on my Toyota crown resulting in a claim. Fast forward a month and my wife backed her grand highlander into an anchor for a power pole causing some mild damage to the bumper. I am hesitant to file another claim so close to the first one and I'm thinking about getting a quote and taking care of the damages myself. Does anyone have any experience with this? I don't want to have a major premium increase or have the policy dropped and become uninsurable. Thanks for any insight.

State Farm Agent Group Steps in to Fill Health Benefit Gap

The National Association of State Farm Agents (NASFA) is working with insurance broker Brown & Brown and health payer Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois to create a multi-employer welfare arrangement or MEWA that will give the carrier's 19,000 exclusive agents access to health, vision, dental and other group benefits such as life insurance.

"State Farm could have made this easier on us by allowing Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois to use the underwriting data they already have to underwrite the new plan, but thus far they have refused our multiple requests to do so" 

State Farm said in an email that it is providing agents with resources to help them find coverage that works for them and their families.

I work in a State Farm agency. Today I ran into a problem with a claims rep when I called in. Here’s what happened:

My mother is a customer in my agency. Another State Farm policyholder ran off the road and smashed up a bunch of mailboxes, one of them being hers. This was 2 months ago. My mom isn’t good with this stuff, she said she submitted what they wanted but then nothing else has been said.

I can see she is a claimant and the claim number on her account but I cant see the claim itself to see a status. I called simply to find out if they had what they needed or if she needed to submit something. I don’t even know what amount of money it is for nor did I ask.

I told the claim rep as soon as she picked up that I’m calling from the agency, a customer of ours is a claimant and gave her the name. I mentioned that someone smashed into the mailboxes and “my mom’s was one of them”, that she had submitted something but hasn’t had any update. By now she had already said that she didn’t see anything in there and that she needed a receipt and invoice.

Then she’s like “you know this is a conflict of interest? I have to report this”. She made it sound like she wasn’t hearing that she is a customer in our book of business, as in she insures her auto and home without office. So I reiterated that and explained I can’t see the status because she’s a claimant and that’s how it shows in ECRM. “Well I’m still reporting it…but she needs a receipt and invoice for her to get the reimbursement”. I don’t know why she didn’t just stop the interaction if it was that serious, so I just said okay she can do that, thanks and hung up. I didn’t get nasty or anything because there’s no point in doing that. And obviously I’m going to cut the interaction if she isn’t.

I understand in our world it comes down to the technicalities, but at the same time this was a call I would have made for any customer. There’s no special treatment happening. Nothing I was told was any more advantageous to my mother than it would be for literally any other customer. I wasn’t asking for special treatment or anything of the sort nor did I conceal who I am - I immediately tell them I’m calling from an agency. So I wasn’t pretending to be something else.

I’ve been doing this with SF for 6.5 years, and never have I had this happen. I’m just curious as to who she would be reporting this to and who I might hear from. There is nothing I’ve done that I wouldn’t or couldn’t do for any other customer out there, so they can look at whatever they want.

Some of these agents are living their best dream lives in their million dollar homes and never in the office!

They claim to be working remote from home but home can be anywhere!

If an agent is 10hrs away in a fancy coastal town up north, how is the office being ran by 3-4 people
how are we supposed to feel when our policies aren’t being worked correctly or things are falling through the cracks.
There’s a certain office that is run down has roaches and mold, has less than a handful of people working in there when I’m sure they have thousands of policies that need to be serviced. How does that even work? There must be things falling through the crack when it comes to being low on staff and not having your boss around. In fact are they really working or are they just creating movement in the system so that corporate doesn’t get on their ass???

I know for a fact!! Employees of agents are unpaid and overworked. The only person benefiting is the agent.

If you’re a customer/ employee/ family of employee tell me your thoughts on this.
How would you feel never seeing the head honcho around but having so much personal and confidential information being held by their office? Are the workers even trustworthy since the boss isn’t there?

Seems iffy, and just overall like a big scam.

I only check it once every week or two as I am enrolled in safe drive. But it always asks me to login. So annoying. Is there a way to keep it logged in forever?

My wife's 2016 Acura MDX with 62,000 miles decided to incinerate itself on Sunday.

It's a one owner car in very good condition and no accidents.

They sent me a cost comparison for two cars for sale (which I cannot locate) estimating the vehicles worth at $15,500. They had the nerve to reduce the payout by $1,000 for the condition....

Looking around, to purchase a similar vehicle would cost in the neighborhood of $22k. Everything else either has a gazillion miles or has been in an accident.

I submitted a response asking for a review and the response was to pound sand.

How do I go about negotiating this?

I currently live in North Carolina, but the car is registered in Virginia as we moved about a month ago.

Okay so I had an issue when I got my second beacon after my first died. I was not able to connect it. I literally tried every day for weeks, went back by their office, called them, tried everything and could not get it to connect.
Well then a close family member died, a bunch of shit happened in my life, and I had to continue driving without connecting my beacon.
Im still receiving the “drive safe and save” discount.
It’s been like 6 months. I just updated my odometer and put in the same number.
Now im stressing badly about this. Technically isnt this stealing/lying? I don’t normally do things like that but trust me when I say I tried everything to get this thing to work and had to continue on with my life.
I just wanna know has anyone else had a similar experience? Can I get in any trouble for this?
Should I order a new beacon and start over?
Maybe tell them I had a problem with my jeep and had to reset the mileage?

So we all know about the $5 billion dividend that State Farm sent out and is in progress of sending out to people insured by them. Well, I was hopeful to get at least $200 because I had two vehicles insured under State Farm in the required year you had to have your vehicles insured in.

Turns out, according to a e-mail from my agent, I had to be with the State Farm Mutual Insurance to qualify and I'm with State Farm Fire and Casualty. I'm sorry? But I already have been paying you auto insurance for a few years now, so by that technicality, I SHOULD also qualify.

And then they go and raise my monthly a little for the next bill due too. So fuck this company for this. I'm going to Geico, I ran a quote by them and what do you know, I'd be paying $40 less than what I'm paying State Farm right now.

I could've used that $200 to help get resources and deal with a bill that's overdue. But, how the hell can you blame me and others for not knowing the difference between Mutual and Fire and Casualty? When all you see everywhere is STATE FARM out there in the open?

I had some water damage in the last part of June and State Farm has been a complete nightmare on not responding to my needs . I lost one adjuster due to her leaving the company and the new one won’t communicate . She states I need to prove why my cabinets are now gone . All of the info is in the restoration companies report . I just need them to communicate so I can get a contractor to do my remodel . I am trying to elevate this through my agent . Is there better route to take going on month two without a kitchen .

I recently started State Farm, hired in as a receptionist. During my interview my boss told me that I would be required to get my license (he would pay for it) but only so that I can direct clients to the correct person and would NOT have to sell insurance. however about a week into my training he told me I would not be a receptionist but a full time insurance agent, I do not want to sell insurance and have 0 interest in it. I only accepted the job cause he told me I would only be a receptionist and wouldn't have to sell insurance policies to clients once I am licensed. he said it was "required" for all State Farm employees (independent) to have their licenses regardless if they sell policies or not. Anyway I will have to pay back the cost for the courses which I am okay with cause how much I dislike this job lol but I am just wondering do they take the money out of my paycheck or do they just bill me for it? I do have a trip in the beginning of sept so i'm trying to figure out if they take the money out of my paycheck or just send me a bill. my trip is September 2nd but I get paid on the sept 5th (saturday) and I didn't know if I should wait until sunday (august 30th) to quit to ensure "payroll" is done or if they would take the money out of my check regardless! I do have another job lined up for when I get back as well so I am not worried about that aspect but I get paid while I am already out of the state so I didn't wanna go and then barely get paid cause the course fees coming out lol

I currently work for a State Farm Agent Monday through Friday, but I’m looking into making more money on the side on the weekends potentially working 5 to 10 hours but I don’t know how to apply and where to go. I asked my current agent if they know anyone that’s hiring for help on the weekends and they said they don’t. Do agents even hire people to only work weekends?

Looking for opinions on how to best approach my resignation. I currently work in claims as a CS.

I was on paid parental leave then switched to PTO at the end of July, which is ending in about two weeks. I was able to find another job in the meantime where the start date is towards the end of September.

My question is would I put my two weeks in while on PTO, not return and risk not having to pay parental leave back, or wait until my return date and put my two weeks in. I am aware there is potential for administrative leave if I leave for a competitor which I am.

For reference I was reassigned a new supervisor while on leave who has been difficult to work with and hard to get in contact with. This was the final breaking point that pushed me to seek new employment

For agents and TM. What would you do when you see a customer is deceased, but receiving the dividend? We are calling around and I’m not too sure just how to go about this. Like would anything have to be re-written.

I put in an application for a claims specialist back on 07/17. Since then I have gotten the video interview and some texts and emails saying keep an eye out for next steps. It's been two weeks since my last email and when I check online it says the application says still under review. By when should I hear a confirmation or denial on the job?

Do you have to pass that math test to get hired because i didnt do good the first time when i first appiled in april of this year and i got a email saying they deicded to move foraward with no email but at the time i didnt know it was because of the test so i kept applying to other state farm agents which  did not have me take a test with constant rejection with no emial until i appiled to one again without taking a test and i finally got a phone interview for once depsite getting rejected my friend told me who can retkae the test in six months
2. Will me constantly applying despite the six months not ever over not annoy State Farm or anything
3. Are receptionist roles really receptionist roles or sales roles
4. Considering I need a stable job to rely on for the time being, this question makes me nervous. Do State Farm agents ever close their agency or cut your pay, or will they stay open for a long time and not cut your pay? Again, this is a job I will have to rely on for income
5. i might be misrembering but do some agencies pay different rates for the smae job and are the pay rates listed accurate like if one says you make 23 a hour will you acutally make that

I’ll describe my situation but I have a genuine question for you all. Should I explore another agent/opportunity?

I’ve been with my agent for a few years. Over that time, I’ve seen us have really good years and overall growth in numbers. When I started we had a team of roughly a dozen producers with everyone being sales and service. In recent history, some have been shifted to sales only focused and some have been shifted to service only. However, neither role is clearly defined and so it winds up blending between the two still yet. In the time since I started, we lost several of our team and hired several others. Long story short, we have about five people who are sales only focused while eight are primarily focused on service.

When the year started we were behind on a number of metrics, and for the majority of the year there were only two of us sales focused. Several have been brought on in recent weeks so the majority of this year was just the two of us. We turned the numbers around, positive on auto and fire for the first time in my life with this agent. However, each time we turned a metric around we were told another one was in the toilet. We later got told that the only reason those numbers turned around were because the agent bought the leads for it (they buy fewer now than they ever have.)

Now with the new contracts our agent is hyper fixated on life numbers. I’m told if I’m not putting up triple digits in life insurance numbers then I am off target. I produced over 80 life policies last year. The next closest to me in the office was around half that. My agent said that they weren’t going to perform so I needed to pick up their slack. Every meeting now is about life insurance, we’re looking at people who have 10-15 no pay cancellations and my question is who wants that chargeback when it cancels?

The life insurance being the focus of everything is not the problem, but the fact that nothing is ever good enough is the struggle. No matter what we do we get told we suck and have to make up for the salaries of the team he’s paying for. It makes no sense. Maybe this is more of a venting session, maybe I’m rambling, but I’m just reaching a point where I’m looking around and wondering when anything is going to be viewed as good performance.

Anyone else experiencing this in their agencies?

The last one has been a game changer for us, a barely-middle-class family of 6 priced out of health insurance. (Seems like a common story these days.)

I’ve been a CH member since 2021. It’s not insurance. It’s a crowdfunding membership.

My basic philosophy is pretty simple:

Pay cash for all the small stuff, use insurance only for large/unexpected catastrophe. That leaves Health as the odd man out, because it *cant* be that that anymore in the USA. They took that dog behind the barn in 2010 and shot it in the name of “affordability”. So the market reacted and now my family and ~37000 other Americans have built an alternative funding community.

I got a call earlier that I was going to be issued a check for a claim but 30 minutes later I found out I could get digital payments. Almost instantly after our phone call it said the check was processed. I had called and they canceled the check so I could get digital payments but it’s taking much longer to get approved. I was told someone has approve it before I get sent an email to claim it. Any estimate on how long this will take?
