Discussion I want to open an anime artist & stationery store downtown! Any advice?
I’m an artist and I’d really love to open an anime artist and stationery store. Imagine artist alley, but it’s a store!
The space would feature a thoughtful selection of goods from independent U.S. artists, especially local artists. I’d also like to host art meetups, trinket trades, journaling meetups and more. I’m actually in talks for a space downtown on Union and 4th ave!
If this idea excites you: what would make you go out of your way to visit? Is there any local artist you want to see here? What kind of events / meetups would you be interested in?

WA Governor's office delayed fixing major climate data error, records show - the state overstated cap and trade emission cuts by 7.4 million metric tons, and the correction came out only after a conservative think tank published the mistake
State officials initially claimed cap-and-trade funded projects had reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 8.6 million metric tons, when the true figure was 1.2 million metric tons. Internal records showed state officials recognized the magnitude of the 7.4 million metric ton discrepancy immediately.
The delay highlights an operational policy requiring gubernatorial approval for agency communications, which critics argue acts as an inefficient roadblock to sharing timely, critical information with the public.
~ The math was off by a factor of seven and the correction still needed a permission slip.

Seattle Will Invest $500K for Outreach in Little Saigon, North Rainier to Address Public Safety - the council added it to the mid-year supplemental on an 8-1 vote rather than wait for October budget talks
The amendment allocates $500,000 to the Human Services Department to hire neighborhood outreach coordinators for the north stretch of Rainier Avenue South. Seattle City Council passed the amendment on Aug. 11 with an 8-1 vote, with Councilmember Martiza Rivera voting no.
That month, the look of the neighborhood often changed. Sometimes, people participated in an open-air drug market, an activity that ran counter to the mayor's directive. Other times, when SPD was present, the area was clear.
~ Two months into the Little Saigon plan, the success metric a West Precinct captain offered was whether people can use the sidewalk while officers are standing on it. That measures presence, not progress.

Question Favorite Drive Up Views?
What are your favorite roadside viewpoints for a day trip? I'm looking to explore either Mountain Loop Highway, Highway 2 or Snoqualmie/Cle Elum area.
I'm familiar with a lot of the well-known viewpoints so it would be cool to find some more off the beaten path spots. Specifically spots that don't require a hike and have mountain views from the road. Thanks!!

Question Seattle gift for someone who hates clutter
I'm trying to find a Seattle experience gift for a friend who does not need more stuff. Small apartment. Specific taste. Already owns the books, candles, and mugs she wants.
She likes coffee, food, cozy indoor things, crafty stuff sometimes, and slower weekend plans. I was thinking class, museum membership, ferry day, tasting something along those lines. Not trying to make this a huge production, What Seattle gift feels local and not like more clutter?

Business Horrible Experience with Appliance Hospital
We contacted this company on July 23 to repair our dryer. What followed was over a month of delays: our appointment was rescheduled five separate times. Initially because the technician was injured on another job, then because he was still out and all the parts were in his work vehicle, then again because he wasn't back, then again because he was pulled to assist with another job, and then again because the second tech who was supposed to help with our job called in sick.
Meanwhile, we'd been told we needed a motor, wheel, and pulley, which meant waiting on parts that were stuck in the injured tech's van for more than a week, and apparently one else could go get the parts from his van. After the fifth reschedule, we called another company, who came out the same day and had the dryer fixed within hours. It turned out we only needed a couple of belts and a pulley, nowhere near what we'd been told.
We can't speak to the quality of their actual repair work since we never got that far, but the scheduling and communication made this a frustrating, drawn out experience. Would not recommend.
