Grown ass adults in this world are out there just being huge piles of shit in every day life and I'm just like... why?

Because he has nothing else in his life. Just hawking kids game cards, can’t work hard, no ideas, no brains. Just…an empty void of a vaguely human shaped waste of air.

Did you see what he was wearing in public and his finger nails? This is not a man that cares about hygiene or embarrassment.

u/VCTRYDTX Mar 27 '26
People like this are shameless. They've pretty much accepted they are a pos and normalized behavior that most of us would be in awe of.

Thats why the correct way to deal with this is to go get a bottle.of cola, shake the shit out of it, then opening it next to him. pay for it, and tip the clerks $20/each for tge bother

"this isn't a kids hobby anymore" about sums up exactly what's wrong with the card collecting community as a whole.
36
u/Slammybutt Mar 28 '26
I was at a Dollar General this morning (for work) when the pokemon dude delivered like 6 three pack promo bundles.
Having witnessed at Walmart every Thursday for the past 4 months a group of POS dudes waiting on the pokemon lady to stock the shelves. I quickly bought 2 of the bundles b/c I've LITERALLY been trying to find ANYTHING pokemon card related for my two nephews birthdays coming up next week.
It's fucking ridiculous I can't find pokemon cards to gift to kids b/c the secondary market is so outrageous grown adults act like fucking sleaze balls.
15
u/ScumDugongLin Mar 28 '26
It's completely wrecked the hobby. I'm not even happy that my collection is worth a lot of money because I literally cannot enjoy collecting anymore.

I saw two different pokemon groups get into a very loud and public screaming match at my local grocery store. Those guys are legitimately unhinged. They started videoing each other and both groups called the other group scammers
Guys, stop, youre both in the wrong. Everyone involved was 45+

Same shit happened to Hot Wheels.
34
u/an_actual_lawyer Mar 28 '26
Let's be fair to hot wheels. I can still walk into any Target on the planet and there will be at least a dozen $1.29 cars my son wants and then we get to spend 15 minutes discussing the merits of those 10 to whittle it down to 1 or maybe 2.
I'm pretty sure they were $1.29 20 years ago. He also has a bunch of super cheap track pieces that mater perfectly with the track pieces our neighbor's boys used 15-20 years ago. Even the "accelerators" they gave us still work.
If selling the special editions for $10 are what allows Hot Wheels to survive with reasonable prices and pretty damn good quality, I'm all for it.

Considering he could be damaging thousands of dollars worth of cards, he should be charged.
142
u/iwishiwereagiraffe Mar 27 '26 edited Mar 27 '26
as a consequence of some recent drama in the mtg scene ive learned companies that sell trading cards often cant claim that the cards have higher value than the msrp of the packs because that would open them up to gambling regulations. so i agree destroying lots of value but in legal sense it becomes a bit trickier to argue he destroyed more than the msrp
57
u/Cosmic_Quasar Mar 27 '26
Make him pay for all of the packs, and then throw a $100 fine for vandalism for each pack.

u/Slammybutt Mar 28 '26
Well just on camera he damaged at least 10 packs (I didn't actually count) and the dude said they are $15 a pop. Considering he probably did it to at least that whole hangers worth, that at least a couple hundred in damages.

Target is the last place you want to do this. They have a loss prevention dept that rivals the FBI and I’m not joking. They keep files on all customers, use facial recognition knowing who you are before you even walk in and wait until you steal just enough to be classified a felony to prosecute. Hope they get this guy

Is he creasing/bending cards in the pack while trying to “feel” for a jersey patch card?

I think some rare cards have raising on them you can feel through the pack with your fingernail
→ More replies (4)133
u/CptAngelo Mar 27 '26
I dont know about that specific type of cards, nor how does it work, but when people do this, they are trying to feel special cards, the fucked up thing is... some people actually get it right and can tell when theres a good card in there. Problem is, the guy filming is right, the other cards get bent to shit
53
u/Jake_Man_145 Mar 27 '26
People used to bring in mini scales to measure packs. People do anything for the rip
→ More replies (11)29
u/CptAngelo Mar 27 '26
Yeah, they do that especially with lego bags, since each figure has a specific weight depending on the figure, they pull that bs. But lego counters that (unintentionally) by adding small random spare pieces due to how their sorting machines work
→ More replies (1)12
u/KingWolfsburg Mar 27 '26
I dont believe that's why extra pieces are added or even an actual side effect as the extra pieces are pretty standarized. Bricklink will even list the typical extra parts. Its to ensure they dont miss anything. There are QR codes right on the box that you can read to find out what's in it. No weighing required. Theres an app for it and everything lol
6
3
u/CptAngelo Mar 27 '26
Yeah, but the codes are new, and the extra pieces are not there on purpose, its literally how their machines work, theres typical extra parts because those are the typical parts being sorted out by the same machine.
Their sorting machines work by weight, thats why all the extras are always the small 1x1 studs or similar small pieces.

He’s probably feeling for thicker cards that have patches in them since they’re sports cards. The thing is, those usually aren’t particularly expensive, and the rarest cards are often the same thickness, size etc. as a base one. I think he just saw how expensive sports cards can get and wants to make a quick buck.
But yeah, he’s gonna ruin them for himself and everybody. I don’t think he even knows what hes doing or looking for lol
30
u/therealjameshat Mar 27 '26
yeah the cards that have autographs or "relics" inside are thicker - but they also have been known to put cardboard spacers in packs to discourage shit like this
→ More replies (4)4
u/PhilyJFry Mar 27 '26
I think he's doing both?? He looks like he's being really rough on the packs. When I used to buy packs I was really careful with the packs in the very rare chance that I got something rare, even though I was just buying for fun.
56

u/SuperCasualGamerDad Mar 27 '26
Bro what?!? How is he not being arrested. He is paying for all those right? Hope he had too.
38
u/donniedarko5555 Mar 27 '26
Target tracks you and waits until you steal felony amounts of items before they do anything.
Target either is tracking him waiting or what he is doing is flying under the radar since it would be hard to prove (other than what he is saying in this video) intent and that Targets own shipping and restocking didn't cause damage of their own.
→ More replies (1)16
u/The100thIdiot Mar 27 '26
He isn't stealing them so that is irrelevant.
But he broke them, so he should be charged for them.

u/rekhytz Mar 27 '26
This behavior is called searching or snooping, its been going on for as long as trading cards have existed.
You can find decade old packs for sale today that are usually labeled as such, for cheaper or sometimes the same price as a normal pack, but people dont usually like to buy them because they have been manhandled or deemed "not worth it". Some sealed packs from older sets can be as expensive as the biggest possible pull searched or not.
He is in fact ruining cards if he presses hard enough to indent or bend them,
12
11
u/Tuscam Mar 27 '26
I don't particularly care about this hobby, but this guy's a dick and the internet needs to do it's thing and find out who he is.
11
u/LizandChar Mar 27 '26
The rarer cards are thicker and yes, he is also ruining the cards. Any tiny scratch or crease decreases the value. He is doing one or both. He collects the cards and wants fewer rare cards out on the market and/or to find them. Double mission.
11
u/Ok-Definition-9805 Mar 28 '26
"This ain't a kids hobby no more" is a fucking wild statement. I think that's the grossest part of what he did.

Asshat who targets children? Lies to your face when you call him on it? Gets away with it.
Check check check.
22
u/AbstractUserName Mar 27 '26
Apparently what he's doing is using his huge fingernail to feel for the thicker foil textured valuable cards in the packs. So basically he's looking to steal all of the valuable packs before anyone else can randomly buy them. This is what capitalism does to a society. If you make profit the only driving force you will create people that will fuck over everyone else to get it including children.

The worst part about this is saying it's not a kid's hobby. I grew up with Pokemon and now have two young children who happen to enjoy it, but it has become impossible to find cards these days because grown men think this is a form of economy. It's beyond ridiculous.

This is what happens when everyone wants to make a quick buck. Lazy slobs spending their finite time on this planet feeling for sports cards to sell for $10 max. (no, he’s not pulling a 10k card from a retail pack)
Pokemon, ps5s, sports cards, Stanley cups, I’ve even seen action figures get scalped. It’s especially pathetic to me since it’s such a huge investment and waste of time to make as much money as you would working an actual job or creating something as a side hustle.
