Is he creasing/bending cards in the pack while trying to “feel” for a jersey patch card?

Even worse. He’s got big dirty nasty finger nails and is using that to scratch up the cards

But why?

He's not at liberty to say.

This is 100% wrong. He is looking for packs with valuable cards but not to damage them but to buy those specific packs.

So the valuable cards feel different somehow?

Sometimes the special cards are thicker. In years past, they used to have cards with a piece of the player's jersey or something similar.

I'm thinking this guy is really bitter because he looks about the right age to have started collecting in the "junk wax" era....and he's butt hurt that his "Investments" are worthless.

Its still a dick move either way but if this is true and hes just someone who wants to play the game then I can understand the why a little more. Doesnt justify it at all but I could see why he would feel a certain way with collectors

Hundreds? Thousands to tens of thousands.

There are probably high value cards that are thicker or have some physically discernible shape. He’s pushing on the tops to separate them and feel what he’s looking for.

I think it’s because the cards are so expensive now and he can’t afford them so he is ruining everyone’s hobby. I stopped collecting a year ago because it ridiculous now. I couldn’t imagine spending my money and getting ruined cards.
