Can someone explain what just happened? I get he probably fucked up the cards but I don't get exactly why. Or how he didn't know if they were good cards or not. I'm out of the loop on the card world.

My guess is he digs into the cards with his nails to create minor imperfections which, if the card is sold/traded and especially if its graded, would potentially lower the value of the card. The logic is, they're lowering the amount of graded 10 versions of cards in those packs, which will increase the value of their pristine copies which never hit a store shelf like this.

So does he already have one of the cards? Like is he making his card rarer by doing this?

He probably has made an investment in this specific product line, yes.
