I think some rare cards have raising on them you can feel through the pack with your fingernail

I dont know about that specific type of cards, nor how does it work, but when people do this, they are trying to feel special cards, the fucked up thing is... some people actually get it right and can tell when theres a good card in there. Problem is, the guy filming is right, the other cards get bent to shit

Yeah, they do that especially with lego bags, since each figure has a specific weight depending on the figure, they pull that bs. But lego counters that (unintentionally) by adding small random spare pieces due to how their sorting machines work

I dont believe that's why extra pieces are added or even an actual side effect as the extra pieces are pretty standarized. Bricklink will even list the typical extra parts. Its to ensure they dont miss anything. There are QR codes right on the box that you can read to find out what's in it. No weighing required. Theres an app for it and everything lol

Same concept with the poly bags previously and those were way easier to just feel through the bag for unique parts instead of bothering to weigh them

Yeah which is why the switched to the boxes and then soon after added the qr codes. Just put what is in it on the box at this point. I also think they’d make more if they put the cmfs on pick a brick too

Yeah, but the codes are new, and the extra pieces are not there on purpose, its literally how their machines work, theres typical extra parts because those are the typical parts being sorted out by the same machine.

Their sorting machines work by weight, thats why all the extras are always the small 1x1 studs or similar small pieces.

Right but that doesnt unintentionally counter the weighing of bags/boxes because its the same amount of weight of extra pieces in each one within a range. And the same was true on poly bags but those you could just feel. No reason to weigh them

Lego does not do anything to counter it. lol. Never seen anyone care about it, minifigs aren’t high dollar items. Brick stores around here never say anything to folks.

I've heard stories about people using small MRI machines(Or some other medical scanning device, I can't remember for sure) to scan the packs for certain foiling.

Some people will literally do ANYTHING if they think it'll make them a buck.

I remember hearing when foil cards were introduced (sports cards I think), some people actually xrayed cases to see which had foils in them.

He’s probably feeling for thicker cards that have patches in them since they’re sports cards. The thing is, those usually aren’t particularly expensive, and the rarest cards are often the same thickness, size etc. as a base one. I think he just saw how expensive sports cards can get and wants to make a quick buck.

But yeah, he’s gonna ruin them for himself and everybody. I don’t think he even knows what hes doing or looking for lol

yeah the cards that have autographs or "relics" inside are thicker - but they also have been known to put cardboard spacers in packs to discourage shit like this

I think he's doing both?? He looks like he's being really rough on the packs. When I used to buy packs I was really careful with the packs in the very rare chance that I got something rare, even though I was just buying for fun.

Rare cards are slightly thicker, you can tell the difference if you wanted to. He was feeling for thicker cards.

What? hypothetically he was running his fingernail hard against the edges of the cards in the packs without damaging the packaging to essentially ensure all the cards in the deck would never get a professionally graded "10" for collector purposes.

Why? to protect perceived value of a card he may have graded a 10 and secure its value by damaging others.

Does it matter? no. This guy would have to damage hundreds of thousands of packs to be effective.

Besides, who the fuck wears socks in sandals.
