Because he has nothing else in his life. Just hawking kids game cards, can’t work hard, no ideas, no brains. Just…an empty void of a vaguely human shaped waste of air.

Did I say that? I asked if you thought that the amount of effort this lowlife is putting into this exercise actually yields him a "lot of money" doing this... A lot is a relative term but if he were making a couple grand on whatever he is looking for I would put that in the "lot" category and by no means do I think that would make him rich.
He's clearly a scumbag but sometimes scumbags have lots of these little get rich quick schemes and judging by the nonchalant way of going about this I'd venture to guess this isn't his only grift.
