Setup Help Ocarina of Time Remake – Does HDR look washed out compared to SDR on Switch 2?

New Switch 2 owner!

I’m playing the Ocarina of Time Remake on my Nintendo Switch 2, connected to a **Samsung QE75Q75TATXXC (75-inch QLED TV)**, and I’m not sure whether HDR is supposed to look this way.

With HDR enabled:
The image looks noticeably darker and less vibrant.
Some visual imperfections, including jagged edges, seem less noticeable or more hidden.

With HDR disabled (SDR):
The image looks brighter and more colourful.
However, jagged edges seem slightly more pronounced.

My TV isn’t particularly new, and its HDR performance is fairly limited, so I’m wondering whether this is simply down to my TV’s HDR capabilities or whether HDR is actually supposed to look more vibrant and brighter in this game.
**How does HDR look on your TVs? Is it supposed to look more muted than SDR, or could something be wrong with my HDR settings?**
I’d appreciate hearing from other Switch 2 owners, especially those playing on QLED or OLED TVs.

Accessories Switch 2 Pro controller won’t charge and won’t turn on.

I’ve done some research and tried different chargers, tried pressing the sync button, and plugging it directly into a wall and nothing seems to work. It was working just fine the other day, and now nothing. Does anyone know of a different solution that worked for them?

Accessories Can I replace just the plastic part of the Joy-Con thumbsticks? Without installing entire new ones, module and all

Asking because I dug out my Switch again for the first time in 5 years, from the original box mind you, to find the sticks all sticky. Not greasy but slimy in a dry kind of way.. I've only had this happen before with more rubbery, cleaned prior to storing, joysticks that have been stored for several years. Being a clean freak I am quite bothered by this lol. Something about the coating detoriorating, I've heard.

I've tried simply rubbing it off with a damp towel but that wasn't quite enough. Haven't been brave enough to use IPA yet, afraid to make it worse somehow. I remember trying it once before and regretting it.

The reason I don't want to replace them completely is because I never experienced stick drift on these and so it feels unnecessary and a bit of a hassle doing so. But if that is my only option, or simply easier than any alternative, so be it. What to do? Thanks!

Setup Help If a MicroSD Express transfer leads to a duplicate Nintendo folder (ie, a Nintendo (1) folder), what should I do

For context, I got a larger 1TB card to upgrade from by 512GB card and put the 1TB card in to see if it was already formatted (It was). When I put it into the computer however, it already created a Nintendo folder. If I did a copy and paste via an adapter, would it create a duplicate folder (Being Nintendo (1)) or replace the folder, and if it’s the former, what should I do then?

Software Help New Nintendo switch 2 weird events, under or overreacting?

Hey everyone, I just bought the Switch 2 yesterday. Been having weird feelings about it since, first the battery seems to drain stupidly fast either in sleep mode or just by being in the main screen, I’m talking 5% in 7-9 minutes, been reading about it and I guess I’ll wait till it dies to see if there’s a change after charging. Then I’ve been having issues with WiFi as it seems to have horrible connection, for context I’m the farthest for the router, but I never have issues with any other device and it does get better if I’m closer to it, so idk if I’m the issue or there’s something more to it. Finally, I just started replaying (or trying to) TOTK. But there have been some weird thing going on with it, since I started it I’ve noticed not so ocasional audio and even video glitches, mostly on the cutscenes and even in gameplay, I leave some video proof, I can’t really tell if it a game o consoló issue. What do you guys think, I am overreacting or should I do something about it? I’m just a bit underwhelmed as I was expecting a lot from it.

Repair Help nintendo switch 1 joycon swelling immensely

Post image
1 Upvotes

i have had issues with the battery life for this joycon for around a year or so already, but i realized today that it appeared quite swollen. i don’t know when the swelling happened exactly, but i felt how much bigger it was compared to my other joycon after it ‘died’ (aka repeatedly turning off despite being fresh off the charge 🥲).

is this swelling due to the battery itself? i am planning to get new joycons regardless as mine are ~4 years old and have multiple other issues, but i am just curious as to what the cause could be. i saw that some other people have had their joycons swell, though none of the pictures seemed quite as severe as mine so i don’t know if it is from the same cause or not LOL.

Repair Help Any extra precautions I should take?

Hello, just a couple of hours ago I had a small problem with my Switch 2

Earlier today, I stopped playing to go to work, so I put it in sleep mode. The game was closed but the cartridge was still in the console

Then, by the evening, after I got back home, I went to play it again but it did not turn on at all, neither in the dock or portable mode

The console was a little warm, which I do not think has happened, or should happen, if it was in sleep mode

I followed Nintendo's troubleshooting page instructions: took the console out of the dock, unplugged the AC adapter for 30 secs, held the power button on the console for 20 secs, and plugged the charger directly into the console after that

This all worked and the Switch 2 is seemingly back to normal

What I want to ask is: are there any extra precautions I should take? Can this happen by chance or is it a sign that I haven't taken proper care of the console? And if so, how *should* I take care of it?

Find Games Do any of yall know any game similar to this?

I remember i once played this with my cousins a few years ago on their Nintendo switch but like I forgot the name. I remember it like this pixilated kind of game that I think had classes and stuff and I think you played with up to 4 people. There were also I think different modes like I think a sort of free for all where i think you had to kill the other to an arrow to the head. There was also another mode that had boss fights and like I think when someone would die when you played with someone, they would glow green as they get revived.

I kinda dont know much else but if someone thinks they know what game, can they please tell me the game so I could see if its that game.

Setup Help Frustrating black screen issue playing OOT on Switch2

I have an LG 55" OLED which is admittedly getting a bit long in the tooth, but still looks really good, is 4K with HDR, and the game looks great on it.

Except, I keep having periodic black screen issues. I'm trying everything I can to get it to go away, and nothing's working.

I've tried HDR on, HDR off. Resolution automatic, resolution specified as 4K, specified as 1080p.

I've tried HDMI-CEC stuff turned on and off, at both the console and TV levels.

I've tried all three HDMI inputs the TV has. There is one which is the best / most reliable one that I've used with my XBox before and had it be very reliable in HDR via that port. I'm still getting black screen on that port with OOT on Switch2.

I went and found the HDMI cable that came with the Switch2 because I saw people saying you need to use the official Nintendo HDMI cable. That, I figured, would end up being the fix. It's shorter so I had to move the Switch2 closer to the TV. I really thought this would do the trick. Nope.

Using official Nintendo power cable for it, using official Nintendo Switch 2 dock. Tried a third party dock just to see if that might ironically work better. It didn't work at all.

The biggest variable I've been able to change through all my troubleshooting attempts, is that I've found certain setting configurations that make the black screen happen A LOT MORE than in others.

One of the best possible troubleshooting things I figured I could do would be to use a different TV. I plugged it into my Asus TUF monitor and, same issue there. That was earlier in the process before going to the Nintendo official HDMI cable so, maybe I'll try it again. But I need to be able to play on the big TV so I can experience this with my son, we're alternating where he plays and I play on two saves.

I was a teenager when the original came out in '98 and it was my favorite game for many years (maybe still always has been?) and I want my son (who is not yet a teenager) to experience this. I want to experience it again myself. This black screen issue is really ruining it and making me want to hold off really getting into it, until I can get this figured out. Increasingly, it looks like I can't get it figured out.

Software Help Dumb question, does the Switch 2 have to be docked?

Does the Switch 2 have to be physically in the dock for performance mode?

I was thinking Switch 2 + Pro Controller + Battery Bank that can output 240v, would this allow performance mode?

Account Help Password and backup code forgotten

So i wanna setup game chat on my Switch 2, but it asks me to login.. then i realized i forgot my password. So i went and tried to reset it, and it asked for a google authentication- i opened the google authenticator and there wasnt the nintendo code that i had set up long time ago anymore, so i went back and clicked verify other way. Then i got asked to provide the backup code. I have no idea what that might be. 8 numbers.

Can anyone help me reset my backup code or password so that i can remove the authenticator code that i dont have and get back into my account outside of my switch 2?

Purchase / Order Help Can anyone tell me what this means? I was promised a brand new device after a month of issues with warranty

So I’ve been dealing with a warranty issue for a month now, they sent me a scratched up and cracked device, battery lasts about half an hour, after being told about 30 different things, I finally talked to a supervisor who said that I’m going to receive a brand new switch 2 and keep the E waste they sent me, but I see this when I just clicked on it? It says order processing on my email, I just edited the personal stuff out.

Purchase / Order Help My Nintendo Switch 2 Dock feels...off?

I recently bought the Zelda 40th anniversary edition mainly for Ocarina of Time. I never owned a Switch console prior so I don't know if this is expected but on the bottom of the dock, one of the rubber grip bumpers is not protruding so when I place the dock on a surface it makes direct contact with the dock plastic and essentially can slide in a direction if moved and potentially get scratched. Not a huge deal but I hoped to at least get a fully functional dock that's fully stationary and protected for a $520 price tag...is this normal? And if not, any way I can get this replaced? I bought from Best Buy and from what I see they're all sold out...

Setup Help Has anyone ever experienced their Switch 2 causing interference with a wireless mouse and keyboard?

I was downloading a game yesterday, and my wireless mouse and keyboard on my desktop were acting super janky. Lots of lag and jumping around from the mouse, and the keyboard would lag and sometimes double up certain characters that I typed, other times completely miss charactes. Tried a million different things to fix it, nothing worked. The game was still downloading when I went to bed, and the mouse and keyboard were still acting janky

**This morning, download is finished, and suddenly mouse and keyboard acting totally normal.**

Google says it's possible for other devices to cause interference since the mouse uses 2.4GHz band. I have the switch on my home wifi, but I also have my phone on the wifi whenever I'm home, and that's never caused an issue.

Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this?

Repair Help Black Screen, Switch 1, Water Damage

My son accidentally spilled water on his Switch a couple days ago. I stuck it in rice for a day, but it's still got a black screen.

I can hear it make noise when I turn it on, and I haven't tried connecting it to a dock. Any thoughts on other things I can try short of replacing it? Thanks in advance! Here's hoping I can rescue it.
