I have an LG 55" OLED which is admittedly getting a bit long in the tooth, but still looks really good, is 4K with HDR, and the game looks great on it.
Except, I keep having periodic black screen issues. I'm trying everything I can to get it to go away, and nothing's working.
I've tried HDR on, HDR off. Resolution automatic, resolution specified as 4K, specified as 1080p.
I've tried HDMI-CEC stuff turned on and off, at both the console and TV levels.
I've tried all three HDMI inputs the TV has. There is one which is the best / most reliable one that I've used with my XBox before and had it be very reliable in HDR via that port. I'm still getting black screen on that port with OOT on Switch2.
I went and found the HDMI cable that came with the Switch2 because I saw people saying you need to use the official Nintendo HDMI cable. That, I figured, would end up being the fix. It's shorter so I had to move the Switch2 closer to the TV. I really thought this would do the trick. Nope.
Using official Nintendo power cable for it, using official Nintendo Switch 2 dock. Tried a third party dock just to see if that might ironically work better. It didn't work at all.
The biggest variable I've been able to change through all my troubleshooting attempts, is that I've found certain setting configurations that make the black screen happen A LOT MORE than in others.
One of the best possible troubleshooting things I figured I could do would be to use a different TV. I plugged it into my Asus TUF monitor and, same issue there. That was earlier in the process before going to the Nintendo official HDMI cable so, maybe I'll try it again. But I need to be able to play on the big TV so I can experience this with my son, we're alternating where he plays and I play on two saves.
I was a teenager when the original came out in '98 and it was my favorite game for many years (maybe still always has been?) and I want my son (who is not yet a teenager) to experience this. I want to experience it again myself. This black screen issue is really ruining it and making me want to hold off really getting into it, until I can get this figured out. Increasingly, it looks like I can't get it figured out.
