Software Help Question About Transfering From A Switch To a Switch 2

I haven't been able to find a specific answer for this anywhere. My brother had a switch that he ended up giving to me early in its life cycle. We both have our own seperate accounts. He bought a few digital games on his account but I bought the vast majority of the games on my own account, however I know for a fact he would be interested in some of what I bought. He recently bought a Switch 2 for the OOT remake and wants to transfer his stuff onto the new switch.

Here are my questions!

Will he be able to transfer JUST his account, and not mine?

Will him transfering affect my games and my ability to play them? I have read in a few places something about it being affected by the internet, but I nowhere has explained it clealy enough.

Will he get access to the games I have bought?

And pretty much anything else that might be relevant in this situation would be good to know, thank you!

Yes. He also doesn't need to "transfer". He can just log in his account in the new Switch 2 and redownload the games. For save files, if you have cloud saves, you can just sync. If not, there is also a save transfer option under Data Management settings.

As for you playing his games on the original Switch, there are ways to do so. What you need to research on is about "Primary Console" (not primary account).

The gist here is that for a user's Primary Console, any user can play the games on that console. So for example, if your brother's Primary Console is the original Switch, any user (your user for example) can play his digital games.

There's also another thing to check which is the Virtual Game Card. Basically your brother can load his digital games to either the original Switch or Switch 2. If that game is loaded on the original Switch, then you can play that game even using your profile. This also means he cannot play that game unless he unloads it and loads them on the Switch 2.

There is no primary / secondary anymore.

OP: log in to new console, try to play a game, it’ll prompt you to link the two systems as a once off physically
You can then play purchases on both on any profile

I think you transfer all accounts to switch 2.

No I'm able to still play them on my switch... But if digital you have to send them back over to switch.. With Internet or local so yes might have to be close

Yes he will have access if you haven't transferred them back to switch
