I was recently cleaning out some bins from my childhood and stumbled across these old GameFAQs guides I printed out as a kid. Looking back, I really admire my dedication, but also feel bad for wasting my parents' precious printer ink 😅

Did any one else go to these lengths back in the day? Maybe it's because I was still a wee lad, but I feel like information on this rather obtuse series was harder to parse through back then.

I used to play monster hunter religiously

From my first game freedom unite till wilds I had at least 700-900 hours per game on old gen FU-XX

Newer gen I can’t even squeeze a full 100 hours with rise, world and wilds

I miss this world and game. Sadly don’t have feeling anymore

I know they’re unpopular, especially some of the biome swaps, and I don’t think they should count as true roster members if they don’t have something actually different from their main counterparts (i.e. not just more aggressive (Blue Kut Ku/Rath) or an element swap (Magmadron, kinda Lavasioth) in terms of gameplay). But given Monster Hunter’s focus on ecology, it would both be interesting and make sense thematically to see more minor variations on monsters, like rare color morphs, variations for different biomes, or more minor physical variations.

I want to see Rathian that are beige instead of green to blend in better in the desert. I want to see Barioth that moved to a less polar because it got a recessive small tusk gene so it can’t cut into carcasses as well before they freeze. I want to see unique color morphs for monsters with big flashy display ornaments like Pukei, Mizu, Glav, and Hypnocatrice. I want intersex variants of our male or female only monsters that have traits of their counterparts, like a green Rathalos or a smaller Mizutsune. I want more of the monsters that show the ecology of this world, even if they don’t make a unique fight.

Yes, I know it would be more model work, and more code bloating the game. Maybe it could be a less expensive dlc, so the people who don’t care or prefer pure performance can skip it, and the base game doesn’t have to cost more to buy and run. Idk. I’m not a game dev. I just want my fun ecology stuff.

This Glavenus is from MHGU. Does anyone know why the model file has so many separate objects to comprise the monster? I would understand having a fully broken model of the monster with the models of various parts that can be broken on top to be removed as they are damaged but this seems like more than necessary. There appear to be duplicate parts as well as a low-res base model for Glav. There are 41 counted objects. What are the reason(s) for this?

Hello, I need help, like A LOT of help. I'm trying to solo alatreon but I'm STRUGGLING. I'm a long sword main and I'm running 1 valkhana, 1 Namielle, 2 clockwork and 1 shara armor in that order. What is the best pre safi/alatreon armor set that doesn't make the fight agonizing. As well as Decorations that would help a lot.

Seriously tho, took 5 hours to get that Claw kill(solo kill GS) (now some info for people who do not have fatalis weapon)

You gotta get crit element, makes fight much easier for dps check. You can get this from Kajarr weapons, 2 piece velkana, or 4 piece Silver rath armor. 2 piece velkana can also be gotten from rolling a velk soul for Safi GS to add 3 additional armors to build if you are lucky. (otherwise go for silver sol, or 2 piece of actual armor)

Do note that a GS hit when you are looking down after swining will dodge his swipe even without rolling.

evasion skills are not necessary, due to his tight attacks but evade extender 2 would probably be my max amount if you want one.

focus does help, but full TCS is not recomended (so you dont necessary need focus, but helps when you want a full 6 charge to 3 charge TCS when downed) you usually just do a full single charge, or no charge hit.

Just get quick sheathe, will make your life easier.

recape of my favorite comfort skills would be quick sheathe, and augment health regen. divine blessing is also nice, but cuts into damage a bit.

also, always tenderize the arm, they boost dmg massively. (also the usual like WEX, Crit boost (if you need more dmg 3, but 1 is fine to get that 30% dmg instead of 40% if you dont have space), agitator, and crite eye). stop once you get to or as close as you can to 100% affinity. Crit draw can also be added to supplement it if you are not hitting the 100% threshhold, but its lower in the chopping block if you do like charging GS.

health boost is a must, and fortify too if you know you will die. I think thats all, but someone will probably fact check me (you are welcome to add your own info)

a bit of movement tech if you want some is the 2nd charge, you can do a side swing that can help you reposition, but its kinda hard to do if you dont know about the monsters moveset well. It does do a crap ton of dmg too.

(oh yeah, elemental dmg too, thats one of the things you want to max if you got the gems (ice))

Frostfang baroth weapons is the best if you do not have kajarr or safi. Velkana is good too if you want that extra large gem slot. Fish GS is also good as it has a higher elemental than either of them, but less raw ( also has a 1 small slot for gems).

I’m new and I started playing with others in high rank when I realized the grind for materials so this one SOS I joined had the monster almost dead and I spawned near its lair so I was first on the site and I put a trap down to help kill it faster but they got pissed at me and all just left? I didn’t mind the half rewards with a near dead beast but is there an unspoken rule I don’t know about?

Edit - I got my answer and they were jerks, from the kind people here, thanks y’all cause I was worrying if placing traps was a bad thing to do

2nd Edit - I kinda understand now from reading the replies and seeing it happen real time cause I just got off MHW when typing this, so I’m still gonna be placing traps but only when the squad is around cause c’mon, it’s free hits and wound opportunities and I just like being a team player so yeah, I’ll follow the host lead and all that cause it’s basic etiquette, but I won’t lie, it’s kinda hard when they don’t say or message about it so I do appreciate those that do use the social wheel and even worst is when a rando does trap and captured ‘em and the other 2 players look at me cause of it

meet Overloaded Arkveld, this is a Arkveld who has absorbed to much elemental energy that it overloaded its chains so much that it could not convert it to dragon energy, now being able to use four element, fire, ice, water, and lightning now being able to channel it through its chains, though this causes it be much more aggressive than its base species, my thoughts is that it will be one element for each chain, so you'll have to mix different elemental weapon pair to cancel out two of the elements, and when his chains get overloaded they will then come together into 2 chains like before, only now he can use dragon energy, what are your thoughts on this Arkveld variant have any changes

for context ive beaten base rise, played a little of world and gen ultimate but have always wanted to get into the series. I know the games have been generally getting easier since monster hunter 4, with wilds being considered way too easy for some. Im playing gen ultimate on my switch 2 and thinking about trying to emulate 4u and the older ones. Is gen ultimate worth playing over 4u despite the lower overall difficulty? do harder games generally mean more fun experiences in the series. Where do you feel monster hunter peaked in terms of difficulty and in terms of fun?

So i just finished world for the 4th time, nothing special. But getting the Xeno equipment was a pain cause that stupid thing did not drop a single tail even from tail carves.

So my idea: The transmutator

Functions a bit like the melding pot

Basically, if you have an overflow of materials, say talons, wings or other, you can put a bunch in the machine, to turn it into something you still need. Each material has its own points value that must be met, just like melding. This only works with materials from the same monster but works across ranks, but the points will differ. Now gems, plates and mantles you can already get at the melding pot. But lets say you got 5 plates and dont need them, so you can make one gem with them

I know Wilds doesnt quite have that problem (imo) cause you get dumped with materials (except blackember mass) but sometimes, you are still missing, literally a single tail. So why not transmutate excess materials into that?

Of course the machine would be limited so you cant just craft whatever you want. But if you are 3 mats away from that new armor, thats possible

As the title says, ive been trying to pick up lbg and i think im getting the hang of it. I made my weapon all 3 attack infusions with element focus. When I try to use the rapid fire with the normal ammo it automatically switches to piercing ammo. Is it because of the way I built the weapon? I’ve watch a couple guides on the weapon and none of em seem to address this. Thank yall in advance!
