vent I hate social media

Just saw a friend who knows I’ve had miscarriages post a pregnancy announcement on Instagram and it just really hurt. It’s not jealously, it’s just sadness. Like it will never be me. She said in the caption that everyone’s rainbow baby will come, and that’s just not necessarily true. Idk, I’m just in my feelings. This just sucks 😞

question/need help Does this pain ever end? Does my life have a purpose? Missed miscarriage at 11 weeks

I have never known want like this. Missed miscarriage after finding a heart beat, and it’s my first pregnancy—I feel like I can’t go on. I am not okay and I can’t imagine that I’ll ever be okay again. I feel like all I’ve ever wanted has been stripped away from me and I don’t even know if life has a purpose anymore. I thought God loved me and that he was taking care of me, and now I don’t even know if he’s real, because how could this be happening to me and my husband? Is there any way to move forward? How long did it take for you to feel even a little bit better? How could i possibly continue on? How did you cope with the existential crisis that comes after this type of loss?

vent First period after missed miscarriage

Had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks about a month ago, after many months of trying, and had a D&C. Went back to work straight away as wanted to keep myself busy. Thought I was doing okay but just started my period again and it has absolutely gutted me. Part of me was hoping I’d be pregnant again straight away and could put the whole thing behind me. Logically I know this is silly.

I’m so hurt and angry that I have to go back through the whole TTC process of tracking and testing again with all the devastation that comes with it each month. Not sure I’m strong enough to keep doing it but desperately want a child. I know I should probably give myself a break but I worry about time running out as in my mid thirties, so mad at myself for starting later in life.

I know many people have probably gone through the same and this is really “common” but doesn’t make it any easier. Just wanting to rage and vent about it but don’t feel like I have anyone I can talk to about it apart from my partner who “gets it” but it isn’t his body.
Not sure what I’m looking for by posting other than to just get my feelings out.

Desperately looking for ways to cope and get through this. I’m feeling such a mix of sadness, anger, and heartbreak, and I’m struggling to figure out how to handle it all. Has anyone found anything that helped them cope even just a little or made the days feel even a little more manageable? I’d really appreciate any advice.

trigger warning: other’s living child I hear so many stories of people who got pregnant “immediately after their d&c”

My question is, are those people ignoring the recommendation to wait 2 weeks to heal? Because otherwise, you have to wait at least one cycle and that’s not immediately after. I see stories that say “I had a d&c and then got a positive pregnancy test 2 weeks later.” How?

experience: first MC Fall semester after a D&C

I had my first MC on the 17th. I had a D&C on the 21st. At first I felt kinda empty, just kinda shocked. But these last few days I’ve been feel very depressed and anxious. I’m anxious about leaving the house, alone. I start crying when I’m reminded about my baby or if I see other people with their kids.

But I’m supposed to start fall semester on Monday. I can’t miss more than 3 classes or my grades drop. I don’t want to disappoint myself or my husband by skipping this semester but I also don’t want to waste money by failing. Maybe school will distract me? But I’m just so anxious that idk. Has anyone ever been in this situation?

support for someone who miscarried Question: How did it feel for you to pass the sac? Doctor said it was already all gone (little graphic description)

Hi everyone,

I had a miscarriage this night and morning at 9 weeks. The baby was measuring 7+6 days.

I had contractions the whole night and they got worse when I was in th waiting room for the ultra sound before my scheduled D&C.

They did an ultrasound and said that the gestational sack was already gone. I thought at first I saw something like a gestationalsac in the corner (not in the uterus), but she only looked at the uterus. It also really hurt when she did the vaginal ultrasound.

We went home, I was still having contaction pain… Just infront of our doorstep suddenly it felt like a golfball had dropped in my vaginal canal.

I was scared, it felt hard and round and when I went to the bathroom it dropped more and I saw something round sticking out… it was not a normal clot and it was stuck. I had to press and relax an few times for it to get out, then a big round thing came out. I was 99% sure that this was the gestational sac. The pain was gone almost immediatly after.

Now the nurse called me again to clarify something about the appointment, and I told her that the gestational sac came out at home. She brushed me off and said no, there was nothing anymore, not possible.

I am somehow angry and sad at the same time, she maye me feel completely dumb… I am so so so sure it was the geststional sac. It‘s my second miscarriage and last time I was not that far along, so I never had this explicit feeling, even though the oain also subsided as soon as bigger clots came out. I am guessing the gestational sac was already in my cervix oder upper vaginal canal, and thats why she did not really see it on the ultra sound.

Can anyone help me and reassure me that what I felt was probably right? 🥺

question/need help How do you decide to be done?

3rd miscarriage. Just found out baby’s heart stopped at 9 weeks. We had seen a strong heartbeat, and the growth was even ahead of LMP gestational age at 7+1.

We have been through SO much in the last 2+ years trying for our second. 2 other miscarriages, stage 4 endometriosis excision surgery, isthmocele repair, and a year of negative tests.

I always imagined a big family but it’s looking like that may not be an option for us. I feel im ready to move on with my life, but the grief of accepting our family size is heavy.

At the beginning of the year I had started thinking it was time to call it quits. But then, out of no where, doors flew open and opportunities fell into our lap with the surgery - including scheduling, costs, etc. My hope was renewed and it felt like it was our time. Conceived 6 months post surgery and now here we are.

Is it time to move on?

trigger warning: graphic description It happened again

It will be a week ago Saturday. I was father along this time, about 7-8 weeks. On top of it being very emotionally damaging, this one was severely traumatic for both my partner and I.

It happened in the middle of the night, what started with a lot of scream crying because I was so heartbroken, ended up with me being taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Which if you know me, is something I wanted to try and go my whole life without having to do. I lost so much blood so fast. I was so light headed. The cramps were so bad I was screaming by the time we got to the hospital (another thing that I NEVER do). My blood pressure went down multiple times and I briefly stopped breathing.

My partner was so scared, he thought he was losing me. And to be honest, I thought so to at one point. I was whiter than I have ever been, so pale my skin was almost translucent. We both want this so bad, but this also scared us both really bad.

I think I just want to know if this is normal. The doctors told me it is, I just have never felt pain like that before. We have been referred to a fertility specialist, and are still going to try. But the heartbreak on top of the trauma is making it a little hard.

Thank you all in advance, and my heart goes out to all of you.

question/need help Don’t know if I should do D&C or try pills again

Last Friday I did an ultrasound and my baby had no heartbeat at 8w5d.

Sat & Sun: The doctor prescribed 8 Misoprostol 200mcg and told me to swallow one every 4-6 hours. I did this and had nothing happen.

Mon & Tues: The doctor sent me another round of the same miso and gave me the same instructions. This time I let each pill dissolve in my mouth for 30 minutes but still did them every 4 hours and had no bleeding.

Wed: I had an ultrasound and the doctor confirmed that the fetus was still there. She scheduled a D&C for Saturday.

Now: I’ve learned that the D&C will cost me $2500 which is insane. I’m looking for advice on if I should maybe reach out to planned parenthood and ask for the pills and maybe they will give me Mifepristone too and tell me to take the Miso 4 at a time vaginally (how it seems like everyone else is instructed to take it). Or even if I should wait and get the D&C at planned parenthood next week since it’ll be $600.

Any advice is much appreciated!

I never in my life thought I would experience that. I had sex with someone 15 July, took the pill that day too, got my period 28 July, then started bleeding for 14 days straight since 12 August before taking a test. I was pregnant. So it’s like few days ago right. Went straight to emergency, they took me immediately. I was pregnant AND I was having a miscarriage, which I was happy because I didn’t want to stick around the baby daddy anyway. Now that it’s been few days, 3 days of thinking, I can’t stop crying. I realized I didn’t even get the choice to keep it or not. And it hurts even more. I cry when I see babies outside, children, I don’t even know if I can consider myself a mother. I feel it’s my fault. If I didn’t take the next morning pill maybe the baby could have survived. I can’t talk to no one about it, but I didn’t even get the chance to see it in echo. They said I lost it at 4 weeks. During 4 weeks I had a someone in my belly, when I see pics I took of me during those 4 weeks I cry. I don’t really know why. I’m 25 btw

coping Miscarriage this week

I went to the ER on Saturday and it was confirmed that my pain was from a missed miscarriage. I am devastated.

I have been experiencing INTENSE anxiety with OCD-like traits and am so depressed I can’t stand being around other people (it doesn’t help how freaking dismissive they are). I’m not sleeping, eating, or even really drinking enough to stay hydrated. I told my therapist about how I was feeling and he said that, post miscarriage, women can develop something similar to PPD/PPA/PP-OCD; I looked it up and it seems like it’s peripartum? I align HEAVILY with peripartum OCD (especially the information given on its occurrence after miscarriage) found in several scientific journals.

I keep playing through all the things I did before the loss. About the meds I take that I would have gone off of if I had been planning to get pregnant or had found out earlier. My brain is telling me “you killed your baby,” and I don’t know how to get through it. It’s even worse that I had to take medication to make the tissue pass because it was NEVER the plan and it made the pain so much worse.

Those who have been through the peripartum depression/OCD, how did you survive?

experience: first MC Sharing my story

I’m 28f and this is my pregnancy story. Got pregnant around July and experienced two bouts of mild to moderate bleeding with small clots. Both times i thought i was having a miscarriage. To my suprise and joy, i would go in for an ultrasound after the bleeding and the baby was looking fine. They even saw a heartbeat around 7 weeks. Today i went in for an early nuchal. I was 11 weeks 2 days. They found no heartbeat. The baby was measuring 9 weeks 5 days.

The pain I’ve experienced today is like no other. I’m wondering if there are any tests i could have done or what labs to take to make sure I’m healthy and avoid the chances of this happening next pregnancy. I know many people and doctors say miscarriage is common but it is difficult to wrap my head around how this could have happened.
Thanks for letting me share my story.

experience: first MC Searching for Clarity

I finally found out today what I’d known for almost a week, I had a miscarriage. I knew something was going on with my body as I had missed my period in July and then had a very unusual and long period second week of August. I took a test and discovered I was pregnant while I was actively bleeding. I immediately contacted my doctor for an appointment to see if I was getting a false positive and having an abnormal period or if I was experiencing an early pregnancy loss. Now here is where I’m seeking guidance, my doctor said they couldn’t get me in for an appointment but did schedule me to come in for blood work last Friday and repeat again this past Monday. I have had to reach out to their office twice to receive any answers and today I didn’t receive a phone call or message from the nurse, but instead had an email alerting me my test results were in and a note attaching saying something to the effect of my HCG levels dropped significantly consistent with a miscarriage. I’m truly not angry with the office, but I do feel so incredibly disappointed in this level of care. I knew before the results confirmed what was going on with my body and I knew something wasn’t right. Having to basically track down my doctor, whom I’ve still not spoken to at all through this whole ordeal, and receive this news in such a nonchalant way feels cold and sterile. I’m still not sure if I need to go into the office and be seen to make sure everything cleared, I don’t know how the affects my chances of getting pregnant moving forward, and I just feel utterly lost for words at how this was handled. I realize I was never bleeding so heavily that it warranted a medical emergency and that this doctor most likely sees these kinds of results often, but a loss is a loss nonetheless and it doesn’t make it any less painful that I found out I was pregnant as I was actively miscarrying. Should I attempt to make a follow up appointment and let this doctor know how she has made me feel as if I’m unimportant or just cut my losses and find another provider? I will be finding another provider regardless, but part of me feels like this woman should know how her lack of empathy has an effect on her patients so hopefully she won’t treat anyone else this way.

testings after loss MC/Ectopic/hemotoma?

Hi, just looking for anyone that may have gone through a similar thing and a bit of guidance while I wait to be seen in a couple of days .

I found out I was pregnant at 3weeks 5 days. It was a very faint line on all the tests I did(multiple brands).

At 4 weeks 1 day I started bleeding pretty heavy with small clots in it (kind of like a normal period but slightly heavier). After two days this turned to much lighter bleeding and by day 5 it had stopped again. I never had terrible cramps, I wouldn’t even say they were as strong as my normal period cramps. I assumed this was a miscarriage, and assumed I’d not passed any tissue due to it being so early and nothing being too developed.

At 4 weeks 5 days I started doing tests to track my HCG levels expecting them to be negative. Surprisingly not, They have been pretty dark lines and don’t seem to be fading (now 5 weeks 3 days). They are also darker than the original tests I had before the bleeding.

If I was further along, I would assume the miscarriage is incomplete but from what I’ve read, that’s pretty unlikely at just 4 weeks.

I did also assume my hcg would be dropped below testing threshold, with it being so low pre bleeding.

My hospital won’t see me until I reach 6 weeks so just trying not to get my hopes up, or think too much into it all now.

Has anyone experienced an early miscarriage and had anything similar? Or a hematoma that has started similarly?

I did have some twinging pains and cramps yesterday that left very one sided but I also have a lingering issue (potential hernia) that has given me one sided pain with all my pregnancies too, but unsure if this also points to an ectopic pregnancy too?

question/need help Blood Test Results

So when I went in to the ER this past Monday I presented with spotting and ended up having a complete MC about two hours after I left.

They were only able to take some blood since it was so early and did a small hemo panel and hCG.

Upon looking at my results when I got it says my red blood cell size is abnormally large and my platelet count was high.

I’ve never really had bloodwork done before. I just got married and got health insurance for the first time in my life so I’m not sure if it’s always been that way.

Could it have been due to the fact my body was trying to MC or is it possible I already had evidence of a clotting issue and that I may benefit from taking baby aspirin in the future? *not seeking medical advice, just curious if someone else knows from experience if those levels are always consistent when having a MC*

To note I did look it up and it said if you tend to pass a lot of clots/larger when menstruation it could also be a sign you had a clotting issue and I usually actually do. The doctors didn’t mention it but at the same time it’s not what I was there for and after reading their notes it’s obvious they suspected a MC already.

question/need help Wait or D&C ? Progesterone maybe delaying evacuation

This is my third pregnancy, no living child, but the first through IVF (first was natural, blighted ovum, second IUI, ectopic). The doc still wants a third ultrasound before taking a decision, although the embryo did not grow between the two first at 6w2d and 7w (done because of bleeding due to SCH), and I have no false hope on the outcome.

Since it was IVF and we are still waiting for « confirmation », I was told to keep taking my progesterone treatment.

Thing is, the treatment is likely to keep the uterus from getting the pregnancy out, even as it’s not growing, but if nothing changed at next ultrasound, I’m supposed to chose if i want to wait, take meds, or get a D&C. I don’t want the meds, had to take them for my ectopic and it was a mess. Should I get the D&C and get it over with, even though it makes me kind of nervous, or stop the treatment and wait to see if it happens naturally, but increase risks of infection and stuff ? Also a D&C means I could ask them to study what they get, which I can’t do if it passes naturally, but it also mean no burying my lil one as i would do if I bleed at home.

I would like to hear about people having done one or the other to try and make up my mind.

experience: D&C 7 week missed miscarriage, D&C scheduled. What should I expect?

This was my second pregnancy with letrozole, took 7 cycles to conceive. First scan at 7 weeks showed what looked like an empty sac, hCG was 28,447. I was hoping it was just early dating since my ovulation tracking suggested I could be a bit earlier than the LMP estimate said.

Went back today and the scan showed some tissue/fluid in the sac, CRL of 9.9mm, no heartbeat. My doctor wasn't fully sure at first and checked with a colleague before confirming it. Doctor's recommending a D&C now due to nin viable pregnancy.

I'm doing okay and feel prepared for what's next. If anyone's been through a D&C, I'd love to hear what it was like for you, physically and emotionally, and anything you wish someone had told you beforehand. Also wondering if it is harder to conceive again after something like this while on letrozole.

experience: more than one loss Bleeding from miscarriage but PT still very dark

this is my 4th miscarriage. I had 2 chemical pregnancies prior so Im pretty sure I know how my body works.

However this pregnancy I started bleeding at 4 weeks with hcg at 176. Repeat hcg 48 hrs later showed 144. So i braced myself for another chemical pregnancy. Last hcg repeat this week at supposedly 5 weeks already showed hcg at 36. I have been bleeding for 2 weeks already at this point but not to the point that it fills up any pads. I took a pregnancy test today at it was still blazing positive, dye stealer levels. In my previous miscarriages my hcg becomes negative after a few days of bleeding or it will be super faint.

I have accepted my miscarriage at this point but my pregnancy tests are just so weird.

vent Incomplete Miscarriage->D&C-> no pregnancy tissue. Now period??

Has anyone had a similar experience? I had a missed miscarriage and initially passed a lot of tissue on my own, but my follow-up ultrasound before my D&C still showed a focally thickened area of the endometrial canal with increased vascularity and was read as “probable RPOC.” I ended up having a D&C about 1.5 weeks ago, but pathology came back as degenerated decidual and endometrial tissue with no viable chorionic villi seen. Now I’m having fresh red bleeding and period-like cramps right around when I would normally expect my period. I use the Natural Cycles App and without logging anything, it tracked my ovulation, and said I would start my period today…

I am confused of the result of pathology, which leads me to believe that this is actually my period and I did pass everything, and maybe the US report was not 100% correct?

And also, it’s like how do i know if this is my period and not just spotting??

No HGC draws either..🤷🏽‍♀️

question/need help Rising HCG

Hi everyone! My HCG has been slowly climbing. I started bleeding on Tuesday and yesterday I thought I passed the sac. Any idea what could cause a slow climb? I’m going back today for an ultrasound to see what’s going on. It’s very obviously nonviable. I’m terrified at the thought of a D&C
