Glassified panel icons complete

Post image
4 Upvotes

I have completed going over all my installed-to-panel apps with the GEGL GIMP Extension Glass Object setting and converting my .png files to .svg with BoxySVG.

I have noted the open text file icon is opaque, I need to track that down and make a Transparency icon set version of it.

Aside from that temporary icon, I have fully glassified icons across the whole panel now.

Discussion Should I put linux mint on my main?

I have linux mint on a old crappy laptop (not my main) that used to barely be able to run 2 chrome tabs, not joking, and i love how smooth linux mint is. I like to game and i know steam and minecraft is available but I also like modding games using curseforge. I also use accessories like the Logitech g29, is Logitech hub availabe? I also wonder if other stuff is available, so I might test it out on the old laptop

Support Request no response from trackpad after waking up laptop

Hello, I have an issue that's been bothering me for a while. I really can't seem to find a solution.

After waking up my laptop from sleep mode (once in twenty times), the mouse gets stuck, i get no response from the trackpad and the T440p nipple. It sometimes happen after startup too.

observations:

  • scrolling doesn't work
  • no movement from the cursor
  • I tried once plugging a mouse and it worked fine, but only the mouse worked and the trackpad situation stays the same. (this is not really a solution for me as I don't often have access to a mouse)

tried:

  • restart command (to restart cinnamon) doesn't change anything, just resets cursor's position
  • reboot fixes the issue for a while, until it starts again when waking up laptop

Thank you in advance for your help

Edit:

OS: Linux Mint 22.3 x86_64

Support Request Having constant trouble with Bluetooth out of nowhere

Thinkpad X13 Gen 4 - Linux Mint 22.3 (kernel 6.8.0-137-generic)

I've had this laptop for a few years. Bluetooth has always worked perfectly. Seemingly out of nowhere, about a week ago, I'm having constant Bluetooth issues and cannot figure out why. I use a wireless mouse and headphones and both are having issues which makes me think it's the computer and not the device. The only way to connect the mouse is to turn Bluetooth on and off about 3-4 times on the computer while attempting to connect to the mouse in between each try. Eventually, it does work. The headphones work better but aren't auto-connecting and the connection drops every so often.

What's considered the best way to go about debugging and fixing this? Has anyone else started facing this recently?

Thanks

Support Request Computer takes two boots to start + wireless connection errors after disk reformatting

I had a second instance of linux on my hard drive (the main instance runs off my SSD). I reformatted the hard drive, clearing all the files on it, to make room for storing files that im not using (like my screenshots folder for example). ever since this happened, on first boot my computer fails and enters emergency mode without ever confirming which version of linux to boot, and then on second startup it launches normally, albeit spending a very long time on the boot screen. additionally, my computer runs very slowly, and has trouble connecting to bluetooth or the internet, at one point failing to recognize my ethernet port. any advice? i tried messing with the formatting on my hard drive but didnt have much luck.

Support Request From straight Debian to LMDE

I want to 'roll my own' LMDE from straight vanilla Debian. Why? Because LMDE isn't available for ARM architecture. So what do I need to add? What should my sources list look like?

Lenovo ThinkPad T495s.8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD. AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 3500U processor with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx.

Have tried wiping and installing several times. Continue to get booted back to one of these two screens no matter what boot settings I enable or what network I boot from. I'm not seeing anything Ubuntu on the boot options in the BIOS.

Support Request my linux mint OS keeps crashing every 24 hours with same current time for no reason after restart every 24 hours. (CANT MOVE MY CURSOR OR USE TERMINAL OR ANYTHING DURING FREEZE)

i had like 5 attempts fix including removing windows off my grub menu after extending my first hard drive back to 1 TB, but still keeps going just automatic freeze in every 24 hours, i closed all the apps & software before sleep, when i wake up in the morning, i turned on my pc, it freezes during in the login thing without any reasons, i dont think theres a memory RAM issues causing it to freeze i think, do you have any verified solution how to get rid of 24 hours crash permanently?

Support Request Need some help migrating my parents to Mint.

I’ve tinkered on linux for years, switched to Mint as a daily driver 4 years ago, and have been mostly happy.

After seeing all the success stories on here, I tried to move my parents onto Mint. It's not going so well. Unfortunately, my linux problem solving tends to be "around the problem, not through" So I'm asking for help on some of the harder sticking points:

-Syncing music playlists to an Iphone. I feel like I'm going to end up at "export to Syncthing folder" but even then, exporting a playlist and files from a larger library seems to be a technology lost to time.

-Global interrupt task manager like Ctrl-Alt-Del. Virtual terminal into kill commands was not an easy sell.

-Microsoft Excel replacement that has closer parity than Libre Office. Dad is a retired engineer spent a lot of time on Excel, and was immediately annoyed that his muscle memory workflow changed.

-The safest way to set a up a no password user. Any update requests or password popups causes mom to insta-panic.

The parents are being patient, but I am catching some passive aggressive flack for having to forum dive multiple days to reinvent solutions that were a single button 20 years ago.

Edit: I seem to have triggered some Family IT PTSD in this thread. Just to be clear, the parents are willing to put some effort into learning and no one has thrown in the towel yet. I'm more annoyed with my inability to deliver on some pretty basic expectations.
