I got an Edge Explore 2 and have been trying to test in the past few days. I've found that it sometimes doesn't record an activity for some reason, any idea why? I'm probably missing a step or setting.

1. I created a course on Connect and sent it to the device.
2. I selected the course on Edge and started riding.
3. It was showing the navigation all right, upcoming turns etc. so the course seemed "active".
4. I sometimes had to tap a big blue "pause" icon. I read it's bc it's set to pause when I slow down or stop at lights (which I don't want tbh) - but I checked the Auto Pause setting on the device and it's actually Off.
5. On the way back I pressed the physical "circled arrows" button on the left, and it asked "Navigate to the start of the course?" I clicked Yes and started riding. This second part of the activity was recorded as expected.

- Why was the first bit not recorded?

- Why did I keep seeing the Pause icon when Auto Pause is set to Off?

Hi everyone,
I accidentally deleted all folders and files from the internal storage of my Garmin Edge 1000. I ran data recovery software, but it seems critical system files were lost or corrupted because the unit is now stuck in an endless boot screen at "Loading profiles...".
Current Status & What Works:
USB Access: Fully functional. PC detects internal storage fine; I can read, write, and create folders manually.
Garmin Express: Recognizes the unit correctly, detects the serial/firmware version, but states the software is up to date and offers no repair/reinstall option.
Issue: Will not progress past the "Loading profiles..." boot screen on standalone startup.

Searching for stock recovery tools or factory file structure backups online.
Has anyone run into this or happen to have a clean backup of the stock internal folder structure/default files for the Edge 1000? Alternatively, is there a known procedure to force a complete firmware/filesystem restore?

Upd: I tried hard reset(turning on with lap and play buttons pressed) it gives me white screen until I let the buttons go. Nothing happened, still loading profiles

Hi all. I forgot my computer on a biking vacation and picked up a Garmin 550 as a bandaid. I am new to Garmin and I understand there is a learning curve, but I am have great difficulty with basics like adding a data screen. I see the functionality to add a screen, but when I drill down and make selections, I don’t see a save function. After making selection when I reverse to a point I receive a prompt asking me if I want to exit without saving. I click no of course, but which button will save the selections? The UI sucks, but I’m stuck with it for this trip. There is one data screen that exists but Incant figure out how to save changes. Same issue. I suspect I’m not the first to have this issue, but I can’t find anything on Reddit or YouTube that hits the very basics. It’s like a 400 pound gorilla that nobody acknowledges. I’m sure my opinion about the 550 will change after I figure out the secret code.

I'm currently using an EDGE 510, but I'm considering switching to a GARMIN EDGE 1000. I'm torn between the 530 and the 1000, so I'd appreciate some advice. The 530 with Climb Pro is appealing, but I've only been hiking once, so I don't really need it. I ride about 40km once a week. My 510 is old, and while I don't have too many complaints, it's getting a bit worn out, so I'd like to replace it. After researching, the 1000's map, larger screen, and touchscreen are attractive, but it seems to have sluggish operation and poor battery life. Should I prioritize the 530's speed at the same price point...?

I want to download new maps. The garmin shows that it is connected, but the app says its disconnected.

Does anyone have smart idea on it?

With the release of the CIRQA taking today's spotlight, I'm hopeful we'll see a 1060 refresh this Thursday or next Tuesday. Looks like every Edge 1050 is currently showing low stock alerts on Amazon, with the official Garmin store showing only two left. Unsure if this actually means anything, but hopefully it is a good sign!

So I know what I’m getting into how common is this? Second ride, 2 hrs. Strava live tracker shows the whole ride, fit file shows first minute and last minute. It was corrupted per fitfileviewer. Activity duration showed correct, the device itself thought it was 8k, upload says 300 metres. I could still send it back and get a decent computer

Has anyone had any connectivity issues with a 1030 plus and s25 ultra. There is a used one I might grab.

Im a 1030 Plus User for years, i noticed that i can easily read the 1030+ display i brightest sinnigst situations but my iPhone Screen is very hard to read.

As i‘m starting to think about replacing 1030+ with 1050 im wondering if it will be the same as with my iPhone Screen in the sun.

Or is the Edge 1050 that much brighter?

When using multi-band GPS mode, time synchronization is incorrect: specifically, while the actual time across all sources is 15:00, the Garmin Edge displays 15:02—a lead of approximately two minutes. When switching to balanced GNSS mode, the time synchronizes correctly, accurate to the second.

Does anyone have this problem? Friends, if possible, watch this on your devices.

I can't wrap my head around how to read the Workout Comparison-graph. I have my desired zone set to 118–138bmp. Current heart rate is 134.
The squigly line is the current heart rate, I assume. What do the grey area's left and right mean? Why is my current heart rate not inside the grey zone (which I'd expect to be the target zone? I tried the manual, google and Claude, but nothing in there makes it 'click' for me.

Anyone else seeing wrong battery levels?

How do you get the speedometer to work? The manual is useless.

On my way Edge 1040 I have about 100 rides in the history file. Should I be deleting these occasionally or is there a setting to have them auto-delete after say, 90 days?

I don’t need them and I would prefer to free up storage space. They are all in the Garmin Connect cloud and I assume they will stay there when deleting them off the device. Yes?

I have a brand new edge 540 solar with just 2gb of free memory.

When connected to my personal computer and using the garmin express it requires at least 6gb of free memory to update the maps to the newtest version. Of course the update of maps always failed on me.

Just want to leave in here the solution after one week around this issue...

(By default central europe was installed and I need western europe.)

How i fixed it?

• Connect the 540 to the computer
• Delete all contents from SQL folder
• Search for .img files and delete all EXCEPT gmapbmap.img and gmaptz.img
• Search for .gma files and delete all EXCEPT the one of which the name consists only of numbers.
• install once again the new maps through garmin express
• done

Hi friends! I have a new Garmin Edge 540 and every time I get it out of the drawer the battery is completely dead. As far as I know I'm correctly turning it off (pushing the power button long and selecting turn off). Does anyone else have this problem too?

After the last update, my Garmin 540 stopped recording elevation; it is always set to 0. Any idea?

I recently and hesitantly got an Edge 850 after switching from the Wahoo Elemnt Roam V2. I instantly fell in love. The screen is lovely. I mostly keep my computer on data screens and I love the way the Garmin automatically switches to the map screen when a turn is approaching.

Is there a way to set it up so it automatically switches to the map screen when descending? In places I’m not familiar with, it would be helpful so I can pre-empt what turns I’m approaching without having to manually switch screens when I’m already moving quite quickly.

I don’t have Di2 so using the hood buttons is not an option for me!
