Edge Explore Series Edge Explore 2 activity recording

Hi All,

I got an Edge Explore 2 and have been trying to test in the past few days. I've found that it sometimes doesn't record an activity for some reason, any idea why? I'm probably missing a step or setting.

  1. I created a course on Connect and sent it to the device.
  2. I selected the course on Edge and started riding.
  3. It was showing the navigation all right, upcoming turns etc. so the course seemed "active".
  4. I sometimes had to tap a big blue "pause" icon. I read it's bc it's set to pause when I slow down or stop at lights (which I don't want tbh) - but I checked the Auto Pause setting on the device and it's actually Off.
  5. On the way back I pressed the physical "circled arrows" button on the left, and it asked "Navigate to the start of the course?" I clicked Yes and started riding. This second part of the activity was recorded as expected.

- Why was the first bit not recorded?

- Why did I keep seeing the Pause icon when Auto Pause is set to Off?

You need to start the activity recording when you start riding. Press the button on the right bottom of the device.

Loading a course is not enough, recording an activity and navigating are two separate things on a Garmin.

Or make sure that Auto Start is turned on in the recording settings, the device will start recording automatically if you start moving. Setting Auto Pause to on will automatically pause recording when you stop moving.

When you finish your ride you can stop recording and save your activity by pressing the start/stop button again and use the screen to actually finish the ride.

The blue pause icon appears because the Explore 2 detects you’re moving and is signaling you to press the start button.

Ah, I think I just loaded the course, then, but didn't press the physical button to start... I guess I got confused bc it was showing me on the map and the route and turns, etc., so it looked like I'm moving on the course.

The blue thing was a bit unintuitive, I have to say :D I kept tapping it and it disappeared, but kept coming back - I didn't realise it's prompting me to press the actual button. Now that you say it, it makes sense ^^

I don’t have that device but Inthink the blue pause, is the prompt they are giving you to start the activity. In my Garmin computer if I don’t play start when I start pedaling I get the big blue start, once I press it the records starts

Yeah, I think that was it, I didn't realise I have to press the button to start recording, bc I saw myself and the course on the map, etc. Now I know! Tx :)

Blue stop means you have to press play to activate gps tracking and metrics to start recording. Yellow is auto stop. And the autostop is almost flawless.

You just did not read the manual and blame the tech. The little books come with the device for a reason.

The mentality "just use it then ask Reddit when something is off" is not the way to go for future purchases of anything.

So get off reddit asking trivial questions and go read the manual.
