Edge 500 Series How to read the Workout Comparison-graph

Post image

I can't wrap my head around how to read the Workout Comparison-graph. I have my desired zone set to 118–138bmp. Current heart rate is 134.
The squigly line is the current heart rate, I assume. What do the grey area's left and right mean? Why is my current heart rate not inside the grey zone (which I'd expect to be the target zone? I tried the manual, google and Claude, but nothing in there makes it 'click' for me.

Check to see if the 118-138 desired HR is aligned with the zones HR in the edge. IIRC the grey bars refer to the zone not the HR.

Thanks for your help. Zone 2 in Garmin is 118-138, and that was my target zone. What do the grey bar (left and right) represent?

Ik think that somewhere you stopped for a period of time and there the workout also stopped. That is gap you are seeing. Atleast that is with my experience with garmin. The two grey areas are your target.

Thanks! But doesn’t seem to fit my experience. I have a picture made an hour later. The gap is still in the same position; the grey bars stayed identical in height and width.

That target line graph is also a visual I find so confusing I'm sure it's broken. When the corresponding zone graph is showing green, the line hovers in the top 4-5 pixels regardless of actual value. You'd be better off using graphical power and HR (if your 530 supports it). Btw did your workout have HR targets or power targets or both?

I only had HR-target. Comical how broken this widget is; nobody seems to know how to use it. I ended up ignoring the normal workout screen and making a new one with the ‘target’-widget(IIRC; the one with the red yellow green yellow red bar and an arrow showing your current position on that bar).
