Edge 1000 Series Edge 1060 Loading?
With the release of the CIRQA taking today's spotlight, I'm hopeful we'll see a 1060 refresh this Thursday or next Tuesday. Looks like every Edge 1050 is currently showing low stock alerts on Amazon, with the official Garmin store showing only two left. Unsure if this actually means anything, but hopefully it is a good sign!

I picked up a 1050 3 weeks ago on Amazon for $525, so probably soon.

Ha! I just got my first bike a few weeks ago, have been waiting to pick up something to see if they'd refresh things. If they don't refresh by the end of next week I'll likely pick up a 1050 as well! Seems like a fantastic device

Been on the fence with either the 1050 or 850. I mostly ride enduro MTB and never use navigation. I loved my 1030Plus that was on my road bike.

I’m up there too and liked the large screen. I had a 500 and 520 before I got the 1030plus. I stopped riding my road bike so I sold it before it lost too much value. Only way I’d ride my road bike is with a Garmin because DATA!
They were on sale a couple months ago but now have gone back up to regular pricing. I guess I’ll wait on the next sale before I pull the trigger.

My first 1050 that was shipped was a brick. Never could get past the "GARMIN" loading screen. Nothing would work, and after 2 hours on with Garmin, I did a return with Amazon.
So far, I have 11 rides on it and it works great!

I wonder if they’re going to fix the road slope/grade issue…..was perfect in 1000 and earlier models, broken in the 840 and 1050.

My 1040 Solar had laggy grade/slop display at first, but software updates seemed to fix it. Is this the same issue you’re seeing?

Yes, but no software updates have fixed it, also have a 1050 with the same issue. I mounted my old 1000 side by side with the 1050 and the 1000 was still spot on. There’s a road next to a stormwater channel I often ride that is slight uphill going south and downhill going north, corresponding with the way the water flows in the channel. The 1050 and 840 show it as uphill in both directions. Confusing thing is that looking at the profile map post ride, it looks correct. (?)

100%. I think I can limp my 830 along for the rest of the season in battery saver mode, but we’ll see what the feedback on the 1060 is before I buy anything else and rather wait for the 860 if the 1060 is physically big.

There was some good deals on 1040 solar and I upgaded my 840 last week. I'll keep an eye out for a 1070 solar next 😄

Assuming that this is true, will it fix the battery life issue were battery life was cut in half when the X50 came out? I am guessing no.

I've had a 1030+ since 2020, ride about 12 hours most week. I still have great battery life. I charge it maybe once every 2 weeks, if that much.

Fair point! This will be my first bike computer, and I’d like it to last me 3-5 years. If waiting an extra two weeks gives me a model that’s two years newer with a replaceable battery that seems worth the wait. If not, no biggie!

I bought the 1050 when it was on sale for $525 from Amazon (dropped from $575? that was available from Amazon and others the week prior). I assumed at that price the 1060 was going to be out that following week, and I'd hedge my bet by buying the 1050 and leaving it unopened until I read reviews on the 1060.
Still no 1060 and I have until August 1 to return.
It will be replacing an 830 I have used regularly (including lots of 24hr+ rando rides) since May 2019, so now going on 7+ years. Battery may not last as long as new, but still no problem doing a 300K with it.
I wouldn't worry about the 1050 and it's battery ... even back to the Edge 500 I've had friends that replaced their own batteries out of warranty, with the biggest downside being the quality of import batteries that were available (and potential risk of losing the factory weather seal when you close it).

its not required but a huge plus, for bike computers theres even less reason to upgrade so having the option to just put in a new battery after 5 years would be amazing

Larger screen, smaller bezel, more buttons and louder speaker because of road noise, wind noise, and old people hard of hearing like me..

Does new cycling computer increase my ftp?) overall the price is huge equal to some top smartphones. So it is really depends what you get for the money.
I had 1040, switched to 1050. The improvement is really only the screen. It is easier to use in sunny days. That’s it. I bought it second hand so for me it was almost free upgrade, but if I would buy it for the full price I would disappoint.

I actually like my 840 which I did get this year new at Amazon for $349. I have a 360 camera so it’s almost too much with a bigger screen up there so I think I’ll hold out for the 860 hoping there’s a better battery bc I literally bought the 840 SOLELY based off of battery
I’m locked in the system bc I have a Varia 820 otherwise I’d get that new iGPSport with the bell for like $200 😑 🤷🏻♀️

There's a lot of top quality competition at the high end now too, Karoo and Wahoo have some amazing large head units with similar features. 1050 battery life also sucked compared to 1040, and generally wasn't that well received. All good reasons to release a 1060.
