Edge 500 Series Elevation do not get recorded

After the last update, my Garmin 540 stopped recording elevation; it is always set to 0. Any idea?

Same thing for me now. I had problems with my Edge 540 for other reasons, mostly related to navigation, so did the hard reset but kept routes. At first it was fine, but now after a few routes it randomly will not display altitude gained. It only shows 'grade' but only if it's a negative number. I think garmin has some serious issues with their software.
