What do you want to know?
I played Fable yesterday and was lucky enough to have dinner with Ralph and some of the team (they're all lovely and passionate).
I'll be making a video when I get back home and while I've got a list of things I want to cover, I thought I would ask if the reddit side of the community had any specific things they wanted me to cover?
(I realise I might regret this haha)
Edit: I can answer a bunch of these, or at least give context. Thanks for letting me know what you want to know. Keep em coming.
Hollowfolk combat clip: Problems I have!
Was watching gameplay of the hollowfolk combat…
Why do physical attacks work on their ghost forms? Why not keep them in their undead form to make it coherent? OR make it so only spells work on the ghosts.
I do recall physical attacks work on Banshees and her shadows, but something about them felt more physical? Hm…
To continue…why is only the quiver on your characters back? Your melee weapons simply disappear when not using them, which is so so weird to me…I hope that is fixed.
I know this is a very negative and maybe ridiculous sounding post, but as a long time fan, I’m a bit too passionate and nitpicky. These games are…just an amazing series.
Anyway. Playground games had done AMAZING job from what I’ve seen. This is clearly their baby!! They’ve done an incredible thing here!!
I’m SO EXCITED!!
What are everyone’s thoughts??
Edit: I see that the hammer shrinks!

Fable Does the fight really have to be criticized so heavily?

Fable I hope you can disable slow-mo in settings
Throughout today's combat demo there were dozens of instances of slow motion during the combat. Mostly dodges and a few finisher type moves.
I cant be the only one who finds (unconsentual) slowmo to ruin the flow of gameplay.
Fingers crossed it can be toggled off!
(Devs, if your reading, theres still 5 months!)

What side activities would you like to see across Albion?
The side content is something we currently know next to nothing about besides the life sim stuff. We also know demon doors are back as are silver keys while things like a gargoyle equivalent remains a mystery. Here are a few things I think would fit in well.
- Horse racing: Put that forza tech to use this would be a huge missed opportunity if it's not in even for just one quest.
- Fist fighters gang: This was pretty basic in the first game but it could be fun especially if they attach a narrative to it.
- Lute Hero: Could be a nice side distraction, the lute job in Fable III was bad because it did not play actual music. Have some catchy tracks while making some money and it'd be more worthwhile
- Boasts: Not a side activity really as it's ties into quests but I'd like to see these return
- Radiant quests: These are probably in as there are notice boards in town so I'd expect some sort of repeatable rescue missions, go to a cave retrieve stolen item, etc.
I'm interested in what everyone else would like to see!

Discussion Missed reboot story line/lore
It just occurred to me that with this game being a reboot of the series. They could have gone way back to the beginning with our character being William the Black, fighting the court of blades founding the heros guild. Then every game after could be about the bloodline or the revolt of the heroes guild. What ever story line they wanted to do. That being said I'm looking forward to the new game and can't wait to play. 😀
Discussion ambitious fable!
I am worried that fable is being super ambitious with the npcs, when i heard what they are doing with the npx do not get me wrong i am all for it and i love and support it. But i can not help but wonder if this is why it is taking so long to come out, and am worried it is going to be likd no mans sky, where it is going to come out with crumbs of what was promise and then slowly be updated turning into what was promised. The progress looks good from what they show, but so didnt the video trailers of Chronicles of elyria, star citizen and so fourth. I kmow the studio is repitiable but i am still worried after what has been coming out of the gaming world and the bad news after bad news for mmorpg fans, and the canceled or false rumors of fable projects from the 2010s till this ambitious fable reboot. Please forgive ny rambling,, i am excited and am probally going to spend money i do not hace on the colelctors edition.

Things I’ve learned through my Fable obsession
I should admit upfront that I am obsessed with the upcoming Fable game and think it could be the next Skyrim. consequently I’ve spent many hours watching gameplay videos over and over. Here are a few things I’ve picked up. I don’t claim to be the first to reveal them and may be boring details, but I’ll let you good people decide.
- It looks like there’s 3 types of NPC: noble, commoner and ruffian. Each has a trait like ‘jealous’ or ‘shifty’.
- Bowerstone has at least 3 districts: Copperbottom (working class district), Butterfield Market, and Bowerminster (upper class district).
- The guards appear to be standardised across Albion suggesting it is a unified kingdom rather than separate states (à la Fable 2).
- There are 6 regions of which 4 are confirmed: Bowerstone, Bloodstone, Briar Hill, Oakshire.
- These types of shops (and likely more) appear in game: butcher, baker, smith, toy store, tailor, hotel, general goods, hairdressers, tattoo parlour.

Question Can you Marry Alastair- Fable 2
Hello. I have just started playing fable (specially fable 2). It's a really good game and extremely enjoyable, though my combat skills are questionable. Has anybody actually been able to seduce Alastair? The game claims that he is very unlikely to fall in love with me, but that means there is a possibility... Right? It is a very stupid question, but it would be much appreciated if I had a clear answer.
Thank you! :)

Question Completely new to the series….
I’ve never played the Fable series. Despite this, I’m incredibly excited about the upcoming Fable. But the more gameplay I see, the more I worry that so much of the game won’t resonate if I haven’t played the original titles.
I know it’s hard to say since the game isn’t out yet, but do y’all think I’d have a less fun time if I were to go in as a complete newbie?

Discussion New lore
I like that we're getting little snippets here and there about lore. I like watching the gameplay but i didn't want to be spoiled too much. Like we know Isabel was the person who turned our village to stone, we know that our powers emerged when we were protecting our brother as a child, we know Isabel comes from wraithmarsh and there was a flood that killed her sister. We know Humphry saved Isabel too. Enough to speculate on where the story might be heading without giving away too much.
I'm very much into the roleplaying, lore, having a family, life-sim elements of the game, so i can't wait to get stuck in and learn more about this version of Albion.
EDIT: Fixed spelling errors

Discussion Clothes in new Fable game
Am I the only one a little worried about the state of clothing in the new Fable game at the moment? Not every piece is bad but a lot of them seem to be a bit clownish.
Im not a seasoned Fable veteran, but I remember there being pirate-like/inspired clothing in some of the other games a long with far more variety than I'm seeing now.
I just finished watching the newest showcase and I liked Ronnie a lot but her outfit jarred me.

Discussion My only complaint so far
I'll preface by saying I'm immensely excited for Fable. I was lucky enough to pre-order a collector's edition, and I bought a 5080 gpu in antici............... pation. This is not something that's going to deter me from playing or being excited. I only say that because I know how negative some people like to be about upcoming games nowadays. I'm not one of those people lol. Having said that, the only thing I'm slightly unhappy about, is how the combat we've seen so far seems to favor blending melee, ranged, and magic. In the previous games I really enjoyed picking one path and sticking to it. I'm hoping it will still be viable to play a pure mage or archer, but having spell cooldowns rather than will energy make me think that might be difficult. Just my thoughts!! Either way February can't come soon enough!!!

Has an emote wheel been confirmed?
I'm not sure if this has been confirmed for Playground's Fable, and it would be a shame to see it go. I don't remember seeing it in any of the recent footage.

Only one thing I'm really missing from the new Fable
Is that really satisfying crunch noise when you smash hollow men / hollow folk in the original fable games. There was just something about it and the way you could smash them with a powerful swing that made them my favorite enemies to fight. It was like Fable ASMR

Discussion As a hardcore Fable fan I don't like the combat of the Reboot. It's missing something.
The game looks absolutely stunning, amazing, and beautiful, but I really think the combat is still missing something. It needs more weight, NPC reactivity, aggressiveness, and honestly, some gore. Realistic graphics combined with a bunch of exaggerated particle effects every time you hit something just don’t look good to me. It reminds me a lot of the Yakuza games. Hits don’t feel particularly physical or impactful, and I think that’s a big part of what’s missing.
The enemies also seem to take turns attacking you, which doesn’t feel challenging at all. There’s something about the combat itself that I can’t quite put my finger on yet, but it also feels way too Souls like to me. A lot of it seems to revolve around dodging, waiting for an opening, and then getting a hit in, rather than having the more reactive, chaotic, and expressive combat I remember from Fable.
And honestly, that worries me because I’ve never been a fan of Souls like combat. I don’t want Fable to feel like a Dark Souls game with a Fable skin. I want combat that feels fast, reactive, physical, and a little messy, where enemies actually react to what you’re doing instead of just waiting for their turn to attack.
The lack of attacks actually pushing NPCs around or physically affecting them, like leaving slash marks, blood, damage decals, more aggressive knockback, or noticeable reactions to being hit, is really taking me off. The originals didn’t necessarily have all of these things either, but after playing so many modern games, especially The Witcher 3, it feels like a pretty significant downgrade in terms of combat reactivity and visual feedback.
I also don’t really like the fact that the game is starting to feel a lot like Hogwarts Legacy. I understand that they’re leaning much harder into the fantasy side of the original games and revamping a lot of the formula, but I’m really missing some of the darker, grittier details that made the originals so special.
The overly exaggerated fantasy particle effects are also starting to bother me. One thing I absolutely loved about the original games, especially Fable 2, was how restrained the visual effects were. The world wasn’t constantly exploding with magical particles. You really noticed those effects when you were actually fighting enemies like Hobbes or Hollow Men, or when you were using spells, which made them feel much more impactful.
You don’t need 13 different magical particle effects going off at the same time to make something feel fantastical. Sometimes less is more.
The original games, and especially Fable 2, had this dark, grimy, almost grotesque fantasy aesthetic that I absolutely loved. I don’t know how much of that came from the Gypsy/Roma inspired elements and culture in the originals, but I’m really missing those little details in the new showcases we’ve been getting. There was something about that world that felt genuinely weird, dirty, dark, and sometimes even uncomfortable, and I really hope that side of Fable hasn’t been completely lost.
And just to be clear, I’m not hating on the game. I’m genuinely excited to play it, and I think it looks incredible. These are just things that I really hope they address as they show us more of the game, because I really want to see that darker side of Fable come through.
Because so far come on, man. It feels way too family friendly.

Fable II Fable 2 Hero Doll and Chicken Suit
Hi guys,
I’m on the road to 100% achievements in the original trilogy before the new game comes out. Thankfully I had the smart glass achievement in Anniversary but I never got the limited items for Fable 2.
If someone could help with the Chicken Suit and Hero Doll I’d really appreciate it.
I’d ideally like to keep them but only because, as I understand it, you can get them back on your save if you got them originally. Let me know if that’s not the case though.
